Excellent single that somehow missed out on the charts. Clodagh was a wonderful singer and fantastic when singing live. Miss this style of music. Takes me back to happier times. Love you Clodagh ❤ love that sultry look in her beautiful Irish eyes
She could have been so much bigger than she was. I could easly see her as a country star in Nashville or a member of Abba. Very talented lady, not to mention beautiful
One of life's great mysteries for me is just how this song wasn't a big hit for Clodagh. It was played a lot on the radio and I just assumed it must have been in the charts, but somehow it didn't make it. Clodagh looks and sounds absolutely fabulous here. I do hope the wonderful album 'Save Me' can get a CD release soon and perhaps sweep up the other Guy Fletcher / Doug Flett songs that were released as singles in this era?
@@IanBelsey I too have that album somewhere. Remember this wonderful lady singer well, from the late 1970's. Thank you for adding her to the RUclips community
A very beautiful lady with a very beautiful and relaxing voice. I LOVE THIS SONG Somehow Clodagh didn't reach the heights of fame that she surely deserved. She made some wonderful records. I must admit my favourite by Clodagh is "You Are My Music."
It surely should have. This song has been lurking in the back of my mind for years. Couldn't remember who sang it or title. By chance I heard it on the radio some time ago and bought it on itunes, so can now listen and sing along as often as I want. Love it, thankyou for replying. x
Absolutely love this song and only rediscovered it recently through a tv show (it was playing on the radio in the background. Clodagh Rodgers has true beauty. Thank you for posting this.
+Ian Belsey Just speaking the truth. in my younger days I envied her glowing complexion! She had true style and was ALWAYS smiling. Enjoy your friendship.
In Sweden an artist called Brian Chapman Is famous for a cover of this song. It's hard to find information about Brian, But I learned that he is from England, Came to Sweden and was an bar pianist at a hotel, Then he was discovered by Swedish music producer Bengt Palmers and got a contract with Swedish EMI. But anyway me and my brother have heard this song with Brian on the car radio when we were younger (In Sweden, Our home country) So because we have been searching to find information that barely exists on internet about Brian Chapman and who he really is i have also wondered about the original version of the song, So this is the first time hearing this version for me and I think it's actually great (I didn't thaugt it was a woman, Because since I read about Clodagh Rodgers i thaught it was a man). But it's great, She sings amazingly well.
Hace varios años la escuché por primera ves. Y no sabía quién la cantaba hasta hoy qué por casualidad la escuché en una playlist de spooty fy y aquí estoy escuchando los vídeos de esta maravillosa canción. Después de tantos años de buscarla. Gracias.
Watching this lovely performance reminds me how good she was and how much I enjoyed watching her in the late 60s and 70s. Glad I thought of her the other day and looked up some of her TV shows. A real class act and her personality shines through. Lovely!
I just looked up the Louse Mandrell version, and found a comment about Clodagh Rogers recording it first... I had to check it out... Very good.. But I like the line in the Mandrell version about while you slow dance they try to charm the pants off of you..... Co operation would avoid the charming.
@@stephenchandler6738 I did not know Helen Reddy recorded the song... Music is full of secrets and triva... Check out predivorce paranoia..21 songs i wrote on you tube...
Absolutely. There are other great versions too, but Clo's the original and best. It's a mystery why this didn't crack the top of the charts as it was constantly played on the radio.
Ian Belsey I guess it was because she was not seen as cool, the music had been changing, glam rock etc, she was probably too late, more aligned to the music of the early sixties rather than the mid 1970's, just prior to the emergence of punk, and she was too grown up to be able to compete with Slade and Grease etc.
Didn't crack the Top 75, not even for a week. Amazing. Maybe there was a backlash against 60s stars by then. Punk and Disco had become dominant by the time this came out and it's about as far removed from both as it's possible to be. When your face no longer fits sort of thing. Agreed though, this song probably sounds better in 2017 than it did forty years ago.

Who knew the Irish could make such great country music?
She could have been so much bigger than she was. I could easly see her as a country star in Nashville or a member of Abba. Very talented lady, not to mention beautiful
Some people think I've flipped my lid when I say "I like this song,a lot" but I do,it's brilliant. 70's CLASSIC !
Fabulous song,
I bet she's still as beautiful now. No one that good looking would ever lose it
Clodagh still looks great!
This is what a real singing star looks and sounds like. A vastly underrated singer, and I agree too sophisticated for the seventies.
Quelle magnifique interprétation et quelle silhouette.
Wish we could see Clodagh singing her hits on TV now for a TV special
So lovely and pure ⚘👗👱😇
Love this song. Should have been a hit. Let's have a Clodagh revival.
Wouldn't that be great! She'd think that was great fun!
Brilliant just brilliant fantastic 😀
I'm pretty certain that upstairs somewhere this 45 single is patiently waiting for me to bring it back to life.

I'd save her any old time...brilliant tune.
The only decent song she was ever given and she showed what she could do. Exelent job. She sqeazed the life out it. A class act. X
This song has saved me.
My partner says this what reminds her of our first date
Always loved this buitifull women, errrrrr and my dad did😁👌👌
Class at it's best, too good for most of us to appreciate at the time, better today than in it's day....but I ALWAYS liked her.
One of the mysteries of the modern world...why this was never a hit.
Well I remember it so yeah must’ve been!
Oh, yeah. I only knew the cover by Clout before. But i love this !!!
A cracking song, beautiful lady. Just love it, so thankful I have 'found' it again. Hope Clodagh is still singing x
Hi Amy. Clodagh is happily retired from show biz-has been for about twenty years. Glad you enjoyed Save Me, which should've been a huge hit!
It surely should have. This song has been lurking in the back of my mind for years. Couldn't remember who sang it or title. By chance I heard it on the radio some time ago and bought it on itunes, so can now listen and sing along as often as I want. Love it, thankyou for replying. x

Clodagh sounds like a 70's version of Laura Branigan on this song!
Thanks for bringing back so good memories.
ramon Macedo Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching Ramon!
sheer class good luck clodagh

Keith C I'm sure that's entirely right! Mind you, she had a good career and remains a happy lady!
Ian Belsey As we all should
good to know that Clodagh is still singing x
Louise Mandrell covered this in 1983. It was on the country charts in early 1983. Merilee Rush hit #54 pop with this in 1977.
Merci Madame.
stunning lady !!
she certainly was
Should have been a monster hit.

What has become of this fabulous singer?
Clodagh is happily retired and living in West Sussex. She's quite well a d enjoys her life away from show biz.
i thought it was a origenal song from Cloud thus not !
Why do they dim the band out? I like to see the orchestra playing.
mistofoles I quite agree!
