I was in the first place for the whole second race , but it turns out the finish point was next to the start so I probably never even left the spawn lol
ik i just commented on the first video of these saying how much i appreciate your edit but frl you edit perfectly. i love long videos of my favorite creators and i like vods but i get sooo bored when there’s a ton of silence or they redo a level over and over and over. it really takes me out of watching because i have to skip forward. your edits are peak for this kind of game, i love it. (yeah ik ive been watching 10 hours of your vids but im sick as hell and my cold medicine isn’t working)
Astro Bot is just a good game, the ad part doesn’t really factor in; my girlfriend doesn’t like or play video games but she really likes Astro Bot. Which both shows that the references aren’t important and that Astro Bot is so much better than most games that it can get non-gamers into gaming. Astro Bot executes on a classic concept better than anyone else has in the modern era. It’s just a hyper-polished game that puts fun first - it also uses the computational power of modern hardware better than any other game this year. It’s definitely game of the year for me and the only thing that could even be considered close is Balatro but I think Balatro is a less important game than Astro Bot for the industry.
At this rate, when the anime marble stream actually happens it's going to be an absolute cluster. 47:40, Poetic that the Witcher 3 video was delayed. 1:34:30, I realized an analogy that I think works. If McDonald's released a burger where they used real fresh ground beef like they slaughtered and ground the cow in the store, hand worked it with spices, grilled it to perfection, used good high quality fresh baked in the store buns, etc., Fresh ice-cream frosty, etc., etc. And they finished by branding the bun with their logo, and wrapping it with all their logo covered paper, put it in a big McDonald's branded bag. It'd still be a delicious masterpiece. You might think it's a little gimmicky with the branding (or maybe it's M shaped), but it'd still be delicious and real with lots of effort and passion put into making it. So you can look past the gimmick angles.
FRENCH show in my JAPANESE animation marble race!? Absolutely despicable! Woe how the Joe has fallen! Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm UNSUBSCRIBING, goodbye totally official Joseph Anderson account that uploads daily.
Only part of Astrobot that felt egregious to me is a certain ending sequence, but it was also very well done like the rest of the game so I found it easy to forgive. Surprised Joe likes it to much though, my only complaint is that almost every bot feels like a Mario Odyssey moon (just kinda sitting there with no additional challenge) and he seems to REALLY hate that about Odyssey.
I think the difference imo is that with Odyssey moon collecting feels a lot more like “the point” of the game, whereas much less so in Astro Bot. If you removed the moons in Odyssey you’d be left with a bunch of empty open zone levels and relatively uninteresting sequences compared to Mario games of the past. If you did the same for prior 3d mario titles I think most of the feeling of reward would still be intact, as each collectible in those older games is more individually demanding. I don’t think the moons being so important to the reward feeling of playing Odyssey is the problem, the problem is that without them the “challenges” required to get them feel hollow. With Astro, if you removed all the bots you’d still have a lot of pretty fun levels and the reward for beating levels being unlocking more levels. The bots are more comparable to something like the green stars from 3d world where they’re there to pace progression more than be “the point” in themselves. If you replaced the green stars with little figurines of Mario characters then you’d basically have Astro’s bots (pun intended).

Love the Joe streams where he doesn't play the game for 2 hours and calls it an "intro"

Man I'm sad that the normal stream times made it hard for me to watch this live. Would have loved to throw in a marble

@@grasshopper9220 That's a fair point, and would explain why Joe seemed to like the open-ended levels the least.
I was enjoying the Marble steam but lost interested with the Astro Bot intermission
