    Drummer Paul is the star here. I love seeing him in other roles. He could be a one man band if he wanted to. It's 2022 and Flaming Pie is still my favorite solo album that he's done.

      @xtc1957 Год назад +1

      Great record, as was "Band On the Run" and my personal favorite, "Tug of War," which is nothing short of a masterpiece, due in part to the inclusion of George Martin as producer.

      If Paul is on the stage, HE is the star, and the same could be said for George Harrison. Nowhere is this more apparent than the Bob Dylan 30th Tribute Concert where the hottest rock stars of the time sang a verse of "My Back Pages." Harrison was the standout, and the crowd applauded in thunder!

      I agree with you. Flaming pie and pipes of peace for me

    • @xtc1957
      @xtc1957 Год назад

      @@stevesteve2696 "Pipes of Peace" is a nice album. I always thought "So Bad" was such a heartfelt ballad... and this lavish harmonies that only Wings and bands like The Hudson Brothers could truly replicate. Do you remember their small hit song from 1973 called "So You are a Star?" I'll never forget how fast I grabbed my bicycle and drove to the department store to buy that one. I saw them on Mike Douglas, covering that grand song. I was floored. Mark Husdon wrote "Living ON the Age" with Steve Tyler and the two are very close. Go and listen here. What a song... Should have been #1 with a bullet! (But, not everyone appreciates power pop as some of us do.
      The song is song by Mark Hudson and the chorus and chord changes are solely. This was, I believe, a tribute to Wings, and Mark Hudson is a HUGE Beatles fan. Lovely voice on this guy... echoes of Badfinger and Macca.

      @@stevesteve2696 By the way, if you're not yet a fan of Big Star... be one. All you need is listen to is "The Ballad of El Goodo" and you'll be forever hooked. Big Star is nearly as tragic a story as Badfinger's was. Very sad, for business and personal reasons. There was a TV documentary called "Nothing Can Hurt Me." This will give you the insight needed. You WILL love Big Star. The song here was written in response to the draft imposed in the seventies. Alex Chilton (formerly of The Box Tops) was one of the best songwriters ever

    Flaming Pie was a good album. It came off of the heels of the Beatles Reunion and Free As A Bird and Real Love. However I think Paul's 2013 New album was his best. He sings more about the early days of his musical career. He has a new wife and is enjoying being a grandfather and a rejuvenated career. :)

    I have no other words to express that YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I'm a BIG fan of Paul, but let's face it. He's a total different one since Linda died. His songs lost brightness since then and you're very right on that. His songs turned to a different way, with much less quality of composition compared to his previous albums (From Flaming Pie to backwards). Decent is the right word. You totally own! I felt very identified with your comment and I also thought I was the only person able to see it.

    I didnt want to believe it, but its true. After Flaming Pie, paul has never been able to make a "great" album. We know what he can do...and we know his music before linda's death. But he couldnt make thing like that again.
