Paul McCartney - Listen to What the Man Said | Wogan | BBC1 20/11/1987

- Music now for this Bonfire Night and here's Paul and Linda performing a Wings classic 'live' on Wogan back in September 1987. Sounds very Ob-La-Di... to me! Was hoping it would encode to HTML5 but didn't for some reason.
No doubt it'll soon get 'blocked' by something ludicrous like Bollocks International Airlines Ltd etc but make the most of it whilst it's here!

I can never understand how this man could write the most corniest songs I've ever heard, but yet I love them so much they can't be denied!
Silly love songs...
Because he's honest in his expression, which is all anyone can ask. Tons of his Beatles songs are corny too. Michelle ain't exactly punk ya know.
It's the music, and how it relates to the melody. The song would be just as enjoyable if he were to sing it in Swahili!
His song 'Silly Love Songs' touches on that very thought,
i love a lot of his songs but like you said, many of them are quite corny. He actually recorded Mary Had A Little Lamb. I think "Bluebird" from Band On The Run is my favorite of his solo songs.
This was the first song from Paul that I heard at a barber shop with my dad.. I was 5 in 1976... I miss those days...
The man could cut diamonds with that voice!
I think Pauls voice was at his all time best in this era. It’s just so beautiful.
Beyond all shadows of doubt whatsoever, Paul McCartney is a once in a century, literally a one every hundred years instrumental and lyrical and vocal genius, i mean like musically beyond savant level for like sixty years now.
Once in a millennium talent!
"I just play the notes that are good friends with each other" the dude doesn't even sight read. Theory is useful, but this remark should make musicians rethink our approaches and priorities. We all have lots to learn from McCartney.
Ever see the video of Paul teaching piano in only 5 minutes? It's amazing how simple it seems to him. @@spicydaddy2526
Trivia: Bob Dylan said he was only in awe of one Beatle. Which one?
Once in a lifetime talent.
Love it ! We will not see the likes of him again
MCartney had hits every decade since, he is a genius!!!!
This songs reminds me of when I was employed as a private chef for a very rich and eccentric inventor that lived on a luxury yacht docked in Lake Erie in the summer of 1991. This song came on the radio one day and the inventor asked me "Who is the man in the song? Listen to what WHO is saying what?" I quickly replied "It's you. He's singing about you. YOU are the man in the song." He thought about it for a while and then let out a loud and hearty laugh. He eventually went to prison for fraud and I think he lost his fortune at some point.
Now he gets to listen to what the Man says every day in the big house!
Not will say too much know someone now doing time for fraud several yrs it catches up with them best clothes cars etc and was still saying hello to me as he got his free prescriptions at the Dr's for his son who has special needs
Great story 😂
That guy is so talented. He sings lead vocal as well as harmonies with the lovely Linda. All at the same time!
@Gerry Berry Ah yes me and the bois using backing tapes while raiding some romans
Paul is god
@@Yuglooc✅
Great song, Paul looking cool and the lovely Linda. Perfect
This takes me back.........Good song and there is the lovely Linda
He looked great then too. Before crazy Heather Mills and all the hair dyeing. Naturally aging. He was probably quite happy with Linda and his kids. Amazing entertainer. There will never be another Paul.
Paul always has a great sound to his songs.
I'm glad they found each other in this crazy world. I believe they truly loved, lived and laughed at life.
Paul in his solo prime. This song is like a scrapbook of that wonderful time in my life as a kid. The spirit of the song so represents the mood of the mid '70's. People were enjoying themselves.
This clip shows them at their BEST!
I have fond memories of listening to this song on my little portable radio when I was 13. This song still holds up well.
There ya go ❤
Wow that’s my story Lisa Gemini!! Venus and Mars was my very first LP
*God I miss Linda... you can't really measure how much she added to Paul's brilliance... she was his other great writing partner in his life... so do not discount her contributions... love her dearly*
I miss and her and Paul's voice😞
I was thinking the same thing!
💐LINDA ERA EL ALMA DE WINGS.. I LOVE HER PERSON.
LINDA WAS WING'SSOUL
AMO SU PERSONA..❤
Yes, a real woman of class! RIP
Have some class in your life and not always be on the dirty down low of fakery and filth! Just think of dear Linda, & all the other women who have class and act like a real lady with no underhanded dirty shatty kitty trash
Not like my trampy spam kid sista!
Yeah I miss her too.
This is one song from Venus and Mars that really takes me back in time . The best days of my life actually .
The Wonder of it ALL BABY!

Lennon for me. Although no one can doubt McCartney is super talented
One of the 1st songs my brothers and I heard growing up in the 70's. We had the 45 single...great stuff
This man can go in any direction amazing what a talent
I love this song
Another ,,WUNDERBARER,, song by Genius Paul !!!
Been a Beatles Fan since I can remember in the 60s. But after the break Up, Paul has been my favorite after the Beatles. Love his music. And yes his voice is not the same as it once was , but so many great songs he has given us in his lifetime !!! . .. .
Awesome song love it ❤🎉
I recall this show, it was a special with Paul and Linda. They were clearly so dedicated to each other, what a gift. LTWTMS is a Wings classic, thanks for sharing - and Tel was a great host, in fact a gentleman. Listen to how he says "thanks Paul, thanks Linda" - he means it
The BESTTTT 😊😊😊
Go Paul...this song takes me back, He had top ten songs every decade.
My favorite song
this is a great performance of a great song
This is mostly playback.
@@gutgolf74 how can people justify these comments...?
because its obvious playback? There are only 2 vocalist on stage, which were Paul and Linda, but the harmonies heard in the performance were clearly done with multiple voices.
besides, most live performances you see on TV are pre-recorded anyway, albiet sometimes they used live vocals. An example of this would be Nirvana's MTV perfomance of Smells Like Teen Spirit, i believe
I luv you Paul k.....😊 you are the greatest to me k..😊😉
Dazzling Wings.
it hits different today…🥲
Love this Song! Major VIBE! Takes me BACK! This song sits on is a MAGIC CARPET
Paul Linda What did the the man say he said ❤️LOVE❤️❤️LOVE YOU LOVE❤️
Paul moves smooth without trying
I love Linda’s dreamy background voice. She definitely added so much texture to Paul’s sound. Rest in peace ❤
Excellent
He even taught Linda how to harmonize....
lovely linda
Linda Shears Campbell (McCartney (she's not a real McCartney tho))
I just love Paul...full stop!
I remember this song when my mom drove me to kindergarten in my dads 1070 Pontiac Lemans and I'm 54 now and still love hearing it
Takes me back.
Great performance!
God Pauls live singing here is amazing
It's not live!
The vocals are live but the instruments are a backing track
@@jamesbyersmusic
It’s live vocals
@@jamesbyersmusic Agreed, doesn't sound/look live at all to me. Besides there are too many complex vocal harmonies to make it work. Strangely the instrumental ending is not the same as on record...
Rounding up to 40 years classic on so many levels perhaps TFG❤️
Love this song!
Omg iloved this .....and still do....thanku paul 4 all rhe lovexxx💜💜💜💜💕💕💕💕💕👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Un très très très grand mélodiste 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😘😘👍🏻
All the soft rock love songs of the 70s were still sweet, romantic, innocent and dreamy, leaving the listeners with plenty of imagination and interpretation to be desired.
Great song AND singer
Perfect song
Great song,love this great song!
It was a 1975 number one hit single from the album Venus and Mars Paul McCartney at his harmonies and vocal range
Nice to see Linda here

Master of Melody. I love you.
We don't have this type of show anymore, just junk. 😭

That Soprano Sax is by far the sexiest ear toy.

Linda ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
The best rendition of this song
Da gosto assistir e não me canso ❤
great performance
wonderful! I love him.
Nice little gem
That might be the last time he ever played his Rickenbacker in public.
He moves around while performing like a wind up toy. You can tell it is his passion. Most animated of the Beatles.
Bom dia e estar com uma boa música cantada por um dos melhores compositores do mundo não é atoa que é-lhe permanente cantando até hoje parabéns paol
Awesomeness song love it❤🎉vevo.
That's what the man said!
Remember it well
Nostalgie ❤
1番好きだわ
I wonder why this song from the 70's in 1987 - Love the song
Promoting 1987’s All the Best compilation, that’s why.
Grandioso paul
how can anyone dislike this
I recently heard Santana’s Transcendence, and as the song ends, you hear a subtle call out to this song, at least that’s what it sounds like to me.
Bravo🎸🥁♥️🎶🎷
That Sax is great...
Love ❤
So gold song
Wow, live as well.
Terry Wogan-R.I.P.....
amazing performance, plus Paul was in the middle of a 8 year hiatus of refraining from playing live.
el saxo increible!
El playback también :v
Alexander T. hajaja si ps ta sobrecantando de la pista de estudio no?
Those were the days, and Linda's being gorgeous
You probably hated her before 1998
@@naeemakhtar928 I hardly ever knew anything about her
