Anyway, there are a few Audis in the supported list, which gives some hope... But I'm also sure you're right overall regarding some cars being too hard to connect to
pick up some people from the Tesla dealers and I enable my comma 2 and they're like didn't know Priuses could drive them self. I tell them yet Toyota enabled it for 1,000 bucks
OpenPilot has driven more miles on my car than I have… by magnitudes more. If you can afford it, don’t mind dealing with a Dev kit, and have a compatible car then get it!

@@AxemanMessiah Gen5 Rav4 is perfect for OpenPilot, and should work right out of the box. Sometimes a car is so new that the firmware cannot be recognized by OpenPilot but you can easily enable “fuzzy fingerprint” which just forces OpenPilot to see your car as a Gen5 Rav4. The proper way is to fingerprint it manually, and if the process is too hard, you can get help in the official discord. Comma Three is the future and I hope you have a pleasant experience like I have with the Comma Two. Cheers! PS - DO NOT GET RAV4 PRIME for OpenPilot, it will not work.
OpenPilot completely takes over any LTA/LKAS and ACC for my particular car. Some of the icons on the dash are non relevant when Comma is installed. Cheers!
For my car, OpenPilot has full control of longitude (gas/brake), and I no longer the ability to choose to he follow distance; but forks (custom software you can load) can allow different follow distance and also allow stock cruise too.

I use DP testing branch and the new 0.8.1.0 and it seems to keep really close to the left lane. Almost hugging the left lane. Do you see that in general with the update?

Never thought to recalibrate every time there's an update. Makes sense. I have a 18 odyssey. Super jealous of your turn radius.
My automatic high beam system works just fine. I always have the auto high beam on. Your stock systems should not be interfered with Comma Two. For instance, my stock Collision Warning and Emergency Brake will still activate as normal.
0.82 fixed double brake for my TSS2 corolla aswell. Additionally, i can't explain why, but i'm not having nearly as much lateral positioning problems as you.
Double brake issue being solved is fantastic indeed. The solve also didn’t come from Comma but Discord community member with handle BriskSpirit; so tons of kudos his way! My experience with v0.8 and above has been net positive but still believe the model has lots to improve on going forward. Really hopeful that Comma will get torch-model performing on the same level as v0.7.10 on straightaways and lane changes.
Comma ships Comma Two all around the world for people to use with OpenPilot. Are you referring to my car or my Comma unit? I have the Comma Two with Toyota Harness working with my 2020 Rav4 Hybrid.
I dont know If i am saying this right. When you drive on the road it seems like you driving the opposite direction of the sun light. I watched through your video, I was really difficulty to see the paint that divided the lanes. So Open pilot will not working well. I believe open pilot camera could not pick up the road clearly too. I think that is the down side but I have never seen someone testing Tesla auto pilot by driving in the opposite direction of the sun light yet.
Maybe, maybe not. If you take a look at the GitHub there are a few Model(AI) issues still evident; just take a look at the consistently bad lance change issues that are still present. Still net positive overall though! May I ask what car you are using with OpenPilot? Love to hear about other users.
There is definitely new hardware in development right now with the code name “Tici”; you can see lots of reference to it when looking at the code changes in the Comma GitHub I linked in my details above. Comma has stated that the Comma Two should be good until v0.9 and if it gets there than it really is still worth the $1200. If my girlfriend buys a new car and it’s compatible with Comma, I would still probably get a Comma Two because at least I know it works.
If your car is compatible and you drive a lot or you just hate driving it's worth it. They're constantly working on it and making it better so I don't see why not get it already and enjoy it
Plus the secondhand market for it is strong, you'll find buyers on the discord or comma will buy it back from you. Worst case new one comes out, sell yours for a bit less than you bought it for. Small price to pay for the convenience
For a second there I thought my description was not showing but it is there. Just like I wrote in the description, I drive (and love) a 2020 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid; this car had Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 and it has the highest compatibility with OpenPilot.
The fix for lateral control is on going and they are making some progress. Still love my Comma Two, just to be clear. For OpenPilot I would aim for: Corolla/hatch with TSS2 Rav4 with TSS2 (not Prime Plug In) Love my Rav4 Hybrid!
@@speedgraphic at the time I wrote above, I believe the 2020 Prius Prime was still TSSP... I’m actually currently considering the 2021 Prius Prime at this very moment! I believe it does not have the same security as the Venza or Rav4 Prime TSS2; those still do not work.
Emergency Braking is still intact even with Comma Two installed. But it’s efficacy is not improved (still uses the stock radar) if that is what you are wondering? If I set up a Patreon and people help so I can get the materials to test, it sounds fun!
I would not be surprised if Toyota already has a driving model(ai) capable of surpassing Comma right now, but they do not push out products without a long testing and QA phase; so buying Comma now would mean we would still need to wait for years to see any "progress"! Let's keep Comma opensource and updating by the day instead. :)

So far it seems they had been working on this vision since last 10 year and in next 5 years they will achieve level 5 autonomous cars that will also work as robotaxi. Then it will be good bye to every car maker because tesla will be at least 5 year forward in technology then any other company.

It’s definitely a concern; as much as I am concerned about this Google account that you and I are using to reply to each other. It concerns me as much as when I am typing this on my mobile phone that tracks a whole lot more than what Comma is tracking. It’s as concerning as the specific instructions I have given Amazon and DoorDash and other delivery services on the best method of getting to my front door. It is another concern on top of other concerns like my home cloud security that uploads my most private moments into servers both in my borders and abroad. There is a lot to be concerned about.
My issue with the hold button is that I have to take my eyes of the road and focus on the speedometer; Comma Two is still only a Level 2 system so I need to be at full attention of the surroundings so I do not feel comfortable with my attention off the road. I actually glance at my speed then count in my head how much I want to change values. Kind of reminds me of changing gears on my old motorcycle with no gear indicator!
Honestly, most drivers just look down and set the speed without an AI assistant maintaining lane centering and speed control. I don't think it's unsafe to look around your environmen/cabin. You have to sometimes. I think there's a safe way to do it in either case, but if your method works for you go for it. Your discrption of your method just sounds more difficult 🤔 Or maybe just more intentional/involved? Which isn't a bad thing I guess
@@GyudeJohnson it’s definitely more intentional and definitely more involved. And again a Level 2 ADAS needs the driver to be alert and this keeps me in check since using OpenPilot can be a little too “chill” sometimes. ;)
It is not ideal, and I have just learned to be extra cautious when dealing with moments where I am looking in that direction. I am hoping that the new hardware from Comma (Tici) will address this obstruction; its bad enough that the the stock LKA camera and rain sensor in my Rav4 take ups so much space too. Cheers!

Yes, once you enable comma ai, you can still adjust the distance you want to be from the car in from to of you.
