Aldo's songwriting, voice, guitar playing are just mind blowingly off the charts. Why was he not more popular I will never know. I'm glad I found him again. Aldo needs to get the love and respect he deserves !!!!!!!!
My exact thoughts!!! Cocksuckers, cocky millenials, globalists and full control...lifedraining leeches. Heck you can't even make a joke anymore without overthink it and ruin the fun..
he kinda was the band, i know the video and live he had a band but he was pretty a one man show...he wrote the tunes, sang, played all the lead parts, it was mainly him and he wrote songs for other artists.
@missSver1 My dad was the bassist in this band at the time when this video was filmed and he actually told me that story. They were all in Hawaii during a break in their tour and were riding around on some jet skis when Aldo hit a wave too hard or in some other way caused him to wipe out. The jet ski he was riding flipped and one of the handlebars struck him in the eye, bruising it very badly. They were scheduled to shoot this video the very next day, so the eye-patch was a quick solution.
Aldo was about 4 years ahead of his time. This album and video came out around 1983 and that was really the time of the new British invasion. That year we got Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Men at Work, Thompson Twins, etc. Aldo already had the look and even sounds of the hairbands that would dominate in 1986 and 1987 after Van Halen and Whitesnake and Aldo's good friend Bon Jovi had blown open the hard rock window. I have always wished Aldo had been more fortunate with his timing.
You know your stuff...agreed and actually, he played the solo on Runaway by Bon Jovi before Richie Sambora was even though of as well as a number of songs on his first album.
In the late 70s to the earlier parts of the 80s alot of bands got left behind or ahead of it. Definitely timing played a huge part and I was going underground into the metal scene. Yes Judas Priest were just becoming huge after Unleased In The East/British Steel era. They really took off and after Screaming For Vengeance made them into one of the Platinum selling stage. They however started trying to keep up with hair metal with Turbo, my least favorite album. Iron Maiden who Priest took out on your found itself going down the same path. By the early 90s thrash and metal was looking for new outlets and Pantera changed the game with Cowboys From Hell. I never liked Hair Metal and that's why it didn't last long. MTV was shoving it down our throats and if you looked the part but sucked you still got a record deal. Thank Napster for single handily took down the music industry and closed the door on record labels signing nearly anyone who didn't get enough word of mouth. Today there's still a thriving underground scene with thrash and metal unless you're Metallica, Iron Maiden or a handful of bands that still have huge followings. I remember seeing Judas Priest and Iron Maiden clubs after selling out entire 18,000 seat arenas in the 80s. Priest last truly epic album was Painkiller. They finally released a great album with Firepower, however KK was gone and Tipton's Parkinson's was affecting his playing. There's some who say he had little to do with the making of that album and Richie Faulkner is really a great enough player to play both leads while on tour a couple years ago. I don't think their the same even though the album was what fans had been clamoring towards since Painkiller. Anyway just my point of view. I was born at possibly the greatest times to ckme in music history 101. I've lived through it and the 80s were just an epic time to be a music fan period. I didn't talk about New Metal because for the most part it also deservingly died quickly while old metal was making its baby steps to the thrash revival in the mid to late 2000s and are still underground unless your a band like Slayer who I'll greatly miss and was fortunate to see them with only 1 American date left on their farewell tour. I'm getting to be an old man now (I turned 54 this past August) and keeping up with shows every weekend long gone. Keep it going you youngsters and do yourself a favor and go back and listen to the music of my youth. What a great ride it's been.
this song is #1 on all time list he never got in my eyes what he deserves... #1 on the charts .i grad.in 84 .for some reason got no respect..rock on Aldo we Love u
Aldo has been my favorite since Fantasy back in 81, I remember I was 13 yrs old when it came out. What a sound the guitar was screaming . I was lucky enough to see Aldo live in 90's great concert everything sounded just like the album. Fuck man that guy can play guitar. It would be nice to hear Aldo come out one more album like he made back in 80's that style of music is back in now. I bet it would make top 10 today if he made one. I have all is music but need just 1 more rocking album from him. I was reading below there's a comment about Bon Jovi. From what I heard over the years it was Aldo Nova who discovered BonJovi. Aldo if you are reading this get back to work and make that 1 last full hard rock album and cement your legacy has Canada's best. I firmly believe that Aldo should get more recognition for helping so many big name artist.
Really when this came out .he was totally on his own world style.after fantasy and subject the lame music industry pumped us full of crap and one hit wonders.thats the worst of it there's so much BS that was playing Aldo couldn't do crap on the air cause the fag movement.just breaks my heart that Great music like this was skipped for Madonna...etc.they burned us out where we could of really enjoyed MUSIC .Aldo you moved most of us with true Love and passion with your guitar skills and master writing & singing...always made the Telephone talk to me..
Aldo Nova must have at least one hundred guitars and he Shure No's how to Play them, his music is unreal love it too me he probably is one of the best canedian guitar player,
2020 and this still holds up and kicks ass over all the garbage out now. This.....this is true talent. Aldo needs to make a comeback, so underrated as both a guitar player & vocalist.
First concert I ever seen I was a freshman in high school 1983 dokken opened then aldo nova, and blue oyster cult 🤘aldo nova was the best he shredded it !!
Such an awesome song. They should have been much bigger than they were. They hit the scene running hard and I don't know what the hell happened. Its one of the many 80s tragedies. So much awesome music. Thankfully they soldiered on.
I have always loved this song and I love to make love and romance at night and this song is perfect it's perfect in my heart and in my soul thank you so much for putting this out I have always loved it Aldo🎉❤❤❤
at this time i was stationed in Augsburg West Germany .. Used to jam Aldo after getting back from the local Night life which was plenty in the Eighties . or before we would head out for the evening we would rock the barracks .. maybe slam a German Beer or two ..hit a bowl of some kick ass two toke your stupid for about a hour or so hash.. goosd times ! !!!! Aldo this tune rocks thanks for contibuting ..
Could you be more specific? I mean, is AC/DC your definition of what rock is? Don't take this negatively please, but my ears hear Aldo as Pop Music, I guess you could go as far as Pop Rock. Okay yeah, my ears for rock would be 70's Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Grand Funk etc. But, man, Aldo is sprinkling the sweetener on this piece of music. Ha! There's a sweet candy named Pop Rocks, I wonder if that has any correlation to the musical term. Oh well, it's just a term, another label for society to slap on it and feel important. I dunno, maybe Mr. Nova could safely be considered light rock? Anywho, thanks for reading this crap, none of it matters. Franz Liszt was a true rock and roller for his era... Jan. 21, 2019 Maine was just hit with a foot of snow and ice, I'm going back to bed.
They're both amazing guitarists in my opinion! I love the lead breaks an licks in most of the songs... I'm super hooked on Medicine Man. And I couldn't agree more with the statement about the older times... Nothing's the same anymore. I would've loved to have been around at that time.
Why Aldo's career never took off is above and beyond my wild imagination?! Hearing this for the first time in decades, made me realise, there were a shit ton of bands back then that shouldn't have had a career at all whereas, Aldo should have!
Well he did write a song or two for Celine Dion in the 90's so you could say he was big behind the curtain where the money is and you don't have to be in the spotlight all the time and enjoy what you do most, that is writing lyrics and making music.
Did he loose his eye. Oh no! Love aldo Nova. Think he's sexy. Takes me back to my teen years. Will never stop listening to his music. Go all go! Rocking Roll people in 2021. Coronavirus years. Stay safe and well out there.
aldo is retired i would think, there is one song i know left and that's "hangin on a heartbeat" from '91. we used to truck into the back lakes of nova scotia in the early 80's, and when we got there we would always crank Aldo. thanks for the memories.

I was just about to ask what was up with the eye patch. Thanks.
What year was this????
Dark glasses might have worked better rather than the pirate look?
@@donharrold1375 I agree. looks strange. surely they could have got sunglasses from somewhere
It's hard to find sun glasses in Hawaii;)
As a teenager in 1983 how in the world did I miss this video??? Just now seeing it at 51 in 2002.
SAME here but a little older
Same!!!

big thumbsup there.
Anytime
Totally agree with that
Even Two years later would have made a huge difference in Sales and recognition

Seriously, this is heavy metal at its finest!
+TheOnebigmick I really don't know. Some make it and some don't.
+Kevin Easter good music? yes. heavy metal? no where close
@TheOnebigmick He is in Canada, at least among everyone i know. He is known among all the top Canadian musicians as a studio guru and player.
Pop Rock , not heavy metal .

One of the best off of the "subject" album! love the jam at the end! Aldo's new stuff from "...Eddie Gage" is great as well.
Aldo is killing here more talent than any of his time !!
God Damn! no matter much my ears here this song' its just not enough!!

The straight groove and guitar work is Epic! I saw it live March 1984 and still Holds "pun intended" today, even more so.
His solo's are so tasteful. Just goes to show that you don't need to play a hundred miles a hour to get your point across.
Amazing voice, amazing guitar! How is this not more famous than it is? =O
One bad ass hair band !!!
His music, videos, talent, are up there with the masters.
What rock and roll is supposed to be-
+larry ball In my opinion, too bad the post-'80s generation don't know that!
***** maybe someday, we'll have more daring musicians like that again, we can only hope!

Love the keyboards perched on the top of a Marshall amp. Best afterthought addition to a music video ever.

Thank Tom Scholz for keeping pure Analog.
Aldo had an accident with the laser guitar from the "Fantasy" video.
Good one! LOL

Fun fact: Aldo won a Grammy for a song he wrote for Celine Dion. He’s an Italian living in Montreal. He speaks Italian, English, and French.
Still love it!

Time has a nasty way of making cool stuff in to cheezy crap!
Lee Aaron kicks ass covering this (Live in London). I had no idea it's an Aldo Nova song -- time for an Aldo retrospective!
I freaking love this song and the whole album, but what's with the eye patch Aldo? Lmfao

Can I go back to 1984 in that hot tub time machine? Nova over Bieber!
