In The Netherlands, a hospital has been closed for visitors and new patients because they found a corona patient has been lying in their IC for a week. The patient had symptoms but they didn't test him until after a week because the Dutch CDC only recommends it for people who have visited infected areas or infected persons. That was last week... This reactive stance is driving me crazy. Now some hospitals are finally testing people who cough and have a fever, but the CDC still has not changed its recommendation.

Viewing from Japan- it really makes me angry when I read that people are not taking this seriously- even joking about it! How cruel! Thousands in China have suffered and are still suffering! It isn’t only getting physically sick from the virus that is stressful, there is so much people don’t get! What about the economic destruction that’s happening? For some it’s become a matter of not being able to buy food! My family lives on a pacific island- they were mostly dependent on tourists from Asia. Now there are none!! No income means no money means no food. This is a part of this global disaster. Another issue- my friend’s parents are elderly and live in America. The mother went into a nursing home and the father is struggling at home alone with early onset Alzheimer’s- she can’t get to her parents now because of this virus. Flights banned! Can you imagine not being able to help your parents who are left confused - they are in their 80’s. My friend is beyond stressed out. There are many of us with Asthma or heart problems etc who are very worried about getting this because we may not survive! How people can be so indifferent and cold is beyond me!! There is so much involved in this situation. I am glad I quit Facebook when this first started because I figured that it would bring the idiots out of the woodwork.

Dr. John Campbell Hello, I'm a Chinese. My English is not good, but I'll wait for your new video at 22:00 p.m. Chinese time every day. I really like your video. You have a very objective evaluation of the epidemic situation in various countries. I want to tell you about the epidemic situation in China. The figures released in China are basically the same as those you have obtained. The number of confirmed cases is declining. This is true, except for Wuhan, Hubei Province There are basically many zero cases and individual places in the province. I see many comments. Many people doubt the authenticity of the number of Chinese epidemic cases. Yes, I would have doubted it 10 years ago, but today, I have no doubt, because in the age of advanced science and technology, information can't be hidden. I can say for sure that China's social software is the most powerful in the world, and the government can conceal news information But it can't hinder people's communication. If an official does something badly, for example, some officials in Wuhan, we will condemn him on various social software, and then he will step down soon, which is the power of public opinion. Recently, we can see that all kinds of officials are demoted or stepped down because some things are not well done or wrong every week. That's what China is like, accountability Eliminate the system. If you can't, change to a better person. We have all kinds of social software. We can communicate with anyone at any time, including Wuhan people. We can do most things with a mobile phone. That's why China uses such tough isolation measures, but most of the Chinese abide by them. It's because of the convenience of technology that you can get what you need without leaving home. What I want to say, in fact, is ideological. When I discuss it at this time, I will feel that many people are too backward. Every country has its own development blueprint. I can't say which is better or which is worse. China is not as closed as the western media imagined. Especially at home, we know much more about the world than the West. This epidemic is a public health epidemic Every country should work together to overcome this difficulty

I had a Parker 45 though, always trying to be part of the gang but never quite making it! Looking back of course, the 45 was much more stylish. My Dad leant me his Parker 51 for my O Levels and it took a while to wear it in as I'm a leftie, then I dropped it on it's knib and that was that, it didn't have an exchangeable head. If you use a metal bladder rather than plastic cartridge, the tail is heavier and the knib doesn't hit the floor when you drop the bugger! We were very proud of our handwriting, all very cool by the time we were ten. Still get compliments on it!

I've stocked up on food, my prescription medication (well, as much as I can), and supplements, but I feel so vulnerable because I use a laundromat to wash my clothes, and the only shower I have access to is at a gym. The family I live with have horrible hygiene and think the virus is all fake news. I have chronic illness and two unfit people that already rely on me. I wish I knew that everything will be okay. Sorry, just wanted to vent somewhere that people understand the severity of the situation we are all in. God bless you all.

See what that doctor said in USA, quote: Dr. Matt McCarthy, a staff physician at New York-Presbyterian:
“I’m here to tell you, right now, at one of the busiest hospitals in the country, I don’t have [a rapid diagnostic test] at my finger tips.” “I still have to make my case, plead to test people. This is not good. We know that there are 88 cases in the United States. There are going to be hundreds by middle of week. There’s going to be thousands by next week. And this is a testing issue.”
    He goes on to say:
“In New York State, the person who tested positive is only the 32nd test we’ve done in this state,” he said. “That is a national scandal. [...] They’re testing 10,000 a day in some countries and we can’t get this off the ground,” McCarthy said. “I’m a practitioner on the firing line, and I don’t have the tools to properly care for patients today.”

Dr. Campbell, I thought you might like an on-the-ground report into our life with the virus in our part of France, where we have lived for 20 years. We are British expats. The county where we live is the Oise, in the Picardie region north of Paris. As of Saturday 29th February there are 9 towns under virtual lockdown (not ours, for now, but only about 50 miles away) : in these 9 towns, all schools are shut, no adults are allowed to go to work, only essential trips out (for food!) are allowed. The Oise county (département in French) has the dubious privilege of housing 47 officially confirmed cases of coronavirus. Two people have died of it in the last 24 hours in local hospitals. They have traced the original local outbreak back to a military pilot at Creil Air force base, who flew French expats back from Wuhan in January.
In the whole of the Oise since last Saturday night, all public gatherings are officially forbidden, no Sunday church services, closed cinemas, theatres, concerts, markets, swimming pools... You can get married but only with minimal attendance at the ceremony, and you can't throw a party in a public venue afterwards. Bizarrely,in most towns including ours (Beauvais), schools and higher education establishments are still allowed to open, with lots of security restrictions in place (all pupils and staff have to wash their hands every hour, no parents allowed in the school building). It's the first day back to school after a fortnight's half-term vacation. Pupils at my son's primary school have come home tonight carrying all their essential schoolbooks in case the edict goes out to close schools from one day to the next. In any case, as of today all overseas school trips are cancelled nationwide.
Until today, French policy has stipulated that all those returning from all areas of China, Iran, South Korea and affected areas of Northern Italy have to go into "quatorzaine" (the new term coined for 14 days' quarantine!). Today for whatever reason that rule was lifted, and now only those who have travelled to Hubei province have to self isolate. This seems crazy to me... I guess it's as good as an admission from the government that the virus is here in France to stay and being spread between those with no such travel links.
Late this afternoon it was reliably reported by local newspapers that the Préfet and Sous-Préfet (equivalent to civic heads of the County who have decreed all the restrictions) have had to self-isolate, having shaken hands last week with the Mayor of one of the 9 quarantined towns. You couldn't make this up...

It's interesting to read here in the comments, how differently this whole thing is handled in the different parts of the world, hell, let alone Europe.
I live in Zurich City, Switzerland. First infection in Switzerland was confirmed last week Wednesday (6 days ago). First 2 cases in Zurich 1 day later on Thursday. By Friday morning Switzerland entered a lower state of emergency and banned ALL public events with 1000 or more participants, which means the Hockey regular season ended with 2 full rounds of games without spectators. The Football Season was posponed till March 23rd.
Now after 5 days on Monday, total infection count in Switzerland is up to 30 (9 of which are located in Zurich) with around 80+ people in precaution quarantene, but so far all origins of infection can still be traced back.

I also live in Zürich and would say that we will just have to wait and see what is going to happen in the next 2 weeks. As long as some people still take it lightly and don't proactively protect themselves, this virus could easily spread nationwide. I must admit that I get extremely upset when I hear, "Es ist nicht so schlimm."

In Austria we got 24 cases in Vienna, Korneuburg, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Graz, with 350 people being quarantined preemptively, 2000 tests performed in total. A hand full of index patients who are unknown, and confirmed community spread in 2-3 small clusters.
I'm afraid it's already beyond containment.
