When I was little I literally thought this WAS Chris Rock. I didn’t grasp he was impersonating him because he was so good! Phil LaMarr is AMAZING. Such a great voice actor!
ABC - They cancelled Clueless; moved to UPN NBC - They cancelled In The House; same new network CBS - They rejected Moesha; became a UPN original UPN - Dean Valentine WB - They crammed all of their black shows on Thursday night Fox - They cancelled shows like South Central and In Living Color "Blacks only home on THURSDAY" I believe that sketch was primarily an attack on The WB, because they put all of their blacks on Thursday.
Uh, about Chris Rock and the Oscars.... yes, I know he wasn't the host of what has become the only Oscars that we're going to remember he was a part of. BTW, talk about this video aging well, look at one of the people it referenced. This is still a great (and sadly still too relevant) video, but even The Slap makes me see it differently.
Dave Chappele talk about how the network pushes diversity on show with predominate black cast to appeal to the white audience. He metioned how he was going to do a show for fox. They were picked up but the network execs at fox request that he replace three of the four major roles with whites and refused walked away from the project.
I remember seeing this back in 1999 when it premiered. Was this supposed to be funny or a serious message? Some of what the he was saying was true at the time. BTW Phil Lamarr is way underrated...
oh phill lamar.. one of the funniest cats to come out of the old mad tv squad.. and i think this was one of the first skits aries spears appeared right? well good times.. good times :D
This was back when Mad tv was very hillarous Aries Sphears and Phil Lamar who are in this skit impersonating Chris Rock (i don't know who is impersonating chris rock). Very well done and well writting in a comedy sketch show.
They only discussed the non cable networks, but still bought up HBO (But not BET). Also, two of the WB’s first shows had black people in them (The Wayans Bros and Parent Hood).
legit thought it was chris rock until i realized that madtv wouldn't ve had the budget for him in the 90s then remembered i searched for Phil Lamar skits
When that guy starts singing how there's no blacks on the T.V. screen, that's the part that really gets me. The rest is building up funny but then BAM! That guys is just FUNNY!
Cartoon actors and writers of the 2024 television season I have one piece of advice for you: No matter what the networks tell you there is no violence in cartoons
Oh my god this was so fucking funny watching in the context of the 90's...this made me laugh so hard when I saw it originally as a teenager. Oh man how things have changed in general with what is and isn't acceptable...
Phil LaMarr does a flawless Chris Rock.
he really do
he nailed it!
So much so that he replaced Chris rock on king of the hill
Ninja Tyler Black he’s also Marty on the Madagascar Video Games
When I was little I literally thought this WAS Chris Rock. I didn’t grasp he was impersonating him because he was so good! Phil LaMarr is AMAZING. Such a great voice actor!
This aged really well. MadTV was ahead of its time.
Yes
Even though there’s tons of blacks on the tv screen now lol
@@chrishommel8133 I’m Puerto Rican and I agree. This would not work today.
That sadly that kind of racism hadn't gone away.
Still is
Saying "Way to go Giuliani!" has aged fine like wine.
And it's only getting better with time.
Aries Spears cracked me up with that Gerald LeVert impression
Indeed
Phil Lamarr and Aires Spears. Two legends of Mad TV.
Amen
This is what made MAD TV the best sketch comedy show. This sketch is timeless!!!!
Yup
lol "Now fox got a lot of blacks on their tv screen...but their all on cops" rolflmao!
Aries Spears doing Gerald Levert has me dying of laughter
Yup
Could not stop singing this today, so I looked it up.
brothersoleinc77 oh wow, all these years and I never knew this!
Over 10 years later, and this still stands today.
Yup
Over 20 years later, and this still stands today.
Ariez Spearz iz Criminally underrated as a comedian..........
I agree with you 100%. His stand-up is amazing
I lover his acting on mad TV but his stand up is dry af.
That bum looks like diabetes in human form
hahaha that handshake part was hilarious!!!
WB - whereda brothas?!
HAHAHAHA
Mad TV was diverse from Day 1 they didn't wait 20 years to have a Sista on!!! Maaad funnier than SNL!!
Exactly!!! And too bad though that they never got the recognition like lame ass snl did, madtv was a million times funnier
Yep, Debra Wilson was fucking great!
flyroni68 sadly in living colour was better and that came out in the early 90's
flyroni68 Mad Tv was infamous!
In living color has not aged well. Mad tv has
In that case HBO means Helpin' Brothas Out.
ABC - They cancelled Clueless; moved to UPN
NBC - They cancelled In The House; same new network
CBS - They rejected Moesha; became a UPN original
UPN - Dean Valentine
WB - They crammed all of their black shows on Thursday night
Fox - They cancelled shows like South Central and In Living Color
"Blacks only home on THURSDAY"
I believe that sketch was primarily an attack on The WB, because they put all of their blacks on Thursday.
WB: Where the Brothas? LMFAOOO
CBS hasn't had a hit black sitcom since they cancelled Good Times.
Does "The Neighborhood" count? 😂
the acronym 'where da brothers' for WB is perfect because the wayans bros got cancelled that year this episode came out.
Mhm. 1999 was a sad year for our black friends.
All on cops.....got me rolling
The CW = Completely White
At least until "Everybody Hates Chris" first appeared.
+88meatwad Either that or Caucasian World. Been like that since 2009, when the last black sitcom, Everybody hates Chris, was cancelled SMH
Everybody Hates Chris was originally on UPN, to boot
Wasn't there a show about a Mexican American who was a virgin ?
RickC28 You mean Jane the Vigrin?
I miss the old days of Mad TV.
It took me forever to realize this was also a parody of that Sunscreen song
They actually played this song on 92Q Baltimore in the morning sometimes
Phil Lamar acted, sound and nearly looked just like Chris Rock.
I laughed so hard at this when I was a teenager lol...I feel quite old now.
I found this to be poignant and thought provoking. The message still hits home to this day. 100%
And it's sad.
I miss this show keepin it reel an shit
The real Chris Rock needs to have a moment like this if he goes thru with hosting the Oscar's!
Uh, about Chris Rock and the Oscars.... yes, I know he wasn't the host of what has become the only Oscars that we're going to remember he was a part of. BTW, talk about this video aging well, look at one of the people it referenced. This is still a great (and sadly still too relevant) video, but even The Slap makes me see it differently.
classic sketch.
"STOP EATING FRIED CHICKEN!!!" LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
I rememebr the first time I saw this skit. It's just as funny now as it was then, and Phil Lamarr is just incredible as Chris Rock. Fantastic! :)
I remember seeing this one in late 99 early 2000 this shit had me, my girlfriend, and her sister in stitches
That fucking song is too good
“Now Fox got a LOT of black people, except they’re all on Cops...”
This made me sad for a second lol
1:45 this is why Will slapped Chris
LMAO!
Dave Chappele talk about how the network pushes diversity on show with predominate black cast to appeal to the white audience. He metioned how he was going to do a show for fox. They were picked up but the network execs at fox request that he replace three of the four major roles with whites and refused walked away from the project.
I haven't seen this in over 10 years but my sister and I still sing the "No Blacks" song from time to time.
a looooooong time ago lol.
i remember seeing this when i was like 8 or 9 and now im 20
I didn't remember the dialog but I remembered the song like it was yesterday.
Well... ABC did change their ways.
ABC went all in with diversity and insults gays, Asians, Jews, etc.
CNFunnyJon hello fellow Toku fan
I can't 😂😂😂😂😂😂 it's so true omg
the tone sets the mood. it's what makes it funny because he's so serious about it.
Aint no blacks on the tv screen🎵 Aint no blacks on the tv screen🎵 Positively.. Absolutely.. Aint no blacks on the T💻V screeeennnn🎶 lol
Aries is singing this song so good 😂😂
Noticed No One Laughed In TheAudience, Not Even Once.
Because they aired this way, foo

Chris Rock: Will Smith is not hip-hop! Eminem is though.
[Will Smith Chris Rock]
I thought that was REALLY chris rock lol
I remember seeing this back in 1999 when it premiered. Was this supposed to be funny or a serious message? Some of what the he was saying was true at the time. BTW Phil Lamarr is way underrated...
"Mow Fox got a lot a black people...except they all on cops" omg lol!
"there are alot of black people on fox, but their all on cops" that makes it worth watching right there.
Honestly, it's the only reason I remember this song, or why I came to watch it. LOL.
This is the best skit I have ever watched on Mad TV.
Noah's Arc after two seasons! What a way to end with such a cliff hanger!!
network breakdown still funny
1:45 Is so ironic given what’s going on today 😂
I remember this when it first aired on MadTV.
...said the black man on tv! lol!
this still makes me laugh
I've been looking for this clip everywhere and you have it. Thank you for so much for posting this.
I dunno why but this song is really catchy LOL
This has been stuck in my head since I was 8.

'Cause they got a LOT of black people; except they're all on _COPS_

Why do I like this song?
GREAT Chris Rock impersonation!
Gotta love this video. Just loved it.
LOL! LaMarr is soooooooo funny!
I know! He really sounds like him. How did he do it? Such talent.
so sad and true, 2 decades later..still no sign of frickin' progress
They forgot PBS
Preventing Black Shows. 😅
I wondered what sketch revealed the acronyms for the networks. Nice Job!
They only discussed the non cable networks, but still bought up HBO (But not BET). Also, two of the WB’s first shows had black people in them (The Wayans Bros and Parent Hood).
Also The CW had Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends and The Game starting out
legit thought it was chris rock until i realized that madtv wouldn't ve had the budget for him in the 90s then remembered i searched for Phil Lamar skits
I don't even remember then showing this sketch at all!
When that guy starts singing how there's no blacks on the T.V. screen, that's the part that really gets me. The rest is building up funny but then BAM! That guys is just FUNNY!
lmfao :dances like aries spears: NO BLACKS ON THE TV SCREEN! i love this skit

On network TV, you have FOTB and Dr. Ken.
Jackie chan
Damn phil la marr sounds just likie chris rock!!!! LOL!!!
Cartoon actors and writers of the 2024 television season
I have one piece of advice for you:
No matter what the networks tell you there is no violence in cartoons
CBS colorless broadcasting system LMFAO
One of my favorite skits.
Spot on impression. Damn. Lamar is the best. His Heston is good too.
You forgot about the 6 o'clock news.
😂😂 y'all so clever with y'alls remade acronyms.
Hahaha H-B-Yo Yo H-B-Yo Yo
Now there's blacks everywhere on my TV screen because it raises the ESG score.
Oh my god this was so fucking funny watching in the context of the 90's...this made me laugh so hard when I saw it originally as a teenager. Oh man how things have changed in general with what is and isn't acceptable...
I agree with Chris, Friends is just a boring, white person fantasy, plus I like Damon Waynes.
31 people think there are Blacks on the TV screen.
It's actually a parody of "No Sex in the Champagne Room", which was a parody of "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen".
no sex in the champangne room
