The fact that you test fit with helmet and sunglasses is why I come to your channel for reviews , your tests are exactly what I look for in new things to buy
Mine just arrived, and I have to say ...I am blown away. I was very skeptical that the sound quality would be good, but it's just amazing, and I can still hear what's going on around me, which is of course the whole point. I bought them for the gym so I could hear when a gym friend wants to say something to me, but I'm going to start using them when I watch TV with the wife too, because she doesn't really watch she just wants to do her social media crap and talk to me while I watch.
I know it’s an old comment… but I’m thinking about buying these for watching tv also. Are you able to pair it to your tv? I have a Sony tv and as far as I know, you can only pair Sony headphones to the tv, and it probably won’t work with these. But idk
@@WinHausGames I have an LG TV, and yes, it pairs just fine and I often use it for that purpose. I don't know about Sony, but hard to see why it wouldn't work if the TV supports bluetooth.
Des you were right on target with this review. I upgraded from the Open Move headset to the Open Run Pro's. The improvement in overall sound quality was significant. I am a classical music nerd and a sort of audiophile and like good sound. The Pro's fit this bill vey nicely for outdoor listening while cycling-decent sound and hearing my surroundings at the same time. Well worth the extra bucks.
I just got these and tried them while road cycling today. I’m just happy when a product does exactly what you need and want them to do. Great review! Always helpful in making decisions!
I was looking for a review on these headphones and when I saw you reviewed them, I felt I hit the jackpot!! You are highly credible and articulate. Thanks for this review!! You are the best at what you do!!
Great review. You answered all my questions about the openrun pros, and didn't waste any time doing it. I'm so glad Shokz (still gotta get used to the name change) has finally improved their bass to close the gap between bone conduction and other headphones. I can't wait to use these for hot summer days listening for birds in the woods, something I could never do with big bulky headsets.
I have had the Aftershockz Aeropex for years now and love them. They keep going and going. If they would only break, I could justify to my wife why I need another pair. 🙂. I listen to audio books mostly while running so they have been fine for me and I like being aware of what is around me. In-ear headphones have always annoyed me while running due to hearing the pounding of my own feet hitting the pavement and that underwater feeling. This looks like a great upgrade. Thanks for the review.
could not have said it better myself. i love my aeroplex! im going to wait a few months to get these. ive got Best Buy insurance on my aeroplex so at any time i can exchange mine and pay the difference.
Thanks for this great review, Des. I wanted to move to nothing in my right ear riding. I checked your channel for guidance, ordered Shokz OpenRun Pro based on this review, and rode with them over the weekend. Excellent! I love having both ears clear while receiving quality audio.
I have these and a few key things people need to know before buying. 1) You sacrifice quality of sound. There's next to no bass, and it can sound really tinny. It makes it good for listening to talk radio and podcast casts but most music will be missing like 20% of its sound. I'm a big classical music lover and i just can't accept missing a single note of wagner. 2)You can't wear them with a jacket because the back of the head phones will push on your jacket and move them all over your head. 3) The vibration of the bass can come across as annoying and tickle your ears rather than come across as actual bass. I think they are worth having but they are built for a very specific purpose and fall flat in a lot of areas. If they were cheaper, you could accept it's cons.
I just got these from my wife. As a flatbed truck driver they are perfect for all day use. Love the audio and phone clarity on both ends. They stay on my head even when I'm messing with chains and tarps. Best gift this year.❤

i suffer from tinnitus, and these are great , i’ve been using airpods pro, but i said lemme give this a try and so far so good . i’m actually surprised how clear it is when talking on the phone and listing to videos and stuff
This is great. As a mountain biker, I've been interested in bone conduction, so nice to see these are sturdy and can be worn with helmet and glasses. I also enjoy good quality audio, so really intrigued by these.
I've had every new model of theirs for the last 5 or 6 years, and they're generally great. The biggest issue is that these aren't USB-C and you need to keep a proprietary cable with you, and that cable is USB-A. Not sure why they didn't just make them USB-C like their cheap model and include an optional magnetic adapter in the case. I have the aeropex (open run) and bought their cheap ones just so I don't have to travel with a special, easy to lose, hard to replace proprietary cable.
For me, the BEST thing about Aeropex is that they are completely waterproof, which makes all the difference when I run or ride.. Every other kind of phones failed on me due to salty, sweaty moisture getting in. If Aeropex used USB-C, they wouldn't be waterproof. That would be a deal breaker for me. My Aeropex have been flawless all through a hot humid summer in Hong Kong. So I'm happy to use the proprietary cable and magnetic clip.
@@BrianRPaterson why would they not be waterproof? Their "open move" headphones are USB-C and just as waterproof as these (and fyi, they're both only IP55 water resistant)...
@@a11aaa11a You might be right. If the USB-C variety really is sealed, that's an excellent move. My experience with headphones with plug-in charging cables has been awful. The sweat (I ride mountain bikes in Asia) always seems to get in and kill the device. Admittedly, they've all had micro-USB connectors, not USB-C. On my Aeropex headphones, the magnetic port appears to be completely sealed, which keeps out the sweat and rain pretty effectively. Well, they're still working😀Hopefully they'll keep on working. One other thing about plug in ports. They sometimes get clogged up with pocket lint, dust or sand. The magnetic ports is much less prone to that sort of thing. Cheers

I saw the announcement about these and I was curious about this new version. My buddies wear these for cycling. Glad you like them. I actually watched this video while wearing my new pair of these. Glad to hear they work really well with sweat. Looking forward to being able to listen to my music at the skateparks and still be able to listen for other people around me.
I absolutely love Aftershokz. I have the Open Move...I mostly listen to podcasts and books while running. I bought them last year because it was so hot, sweat was literally making my earbuds fall out of my ears. Highly recommend!
First time I ever seen your video thanks for the review I’m planning to get me some today. You did an awesome job explaining everything thank you keep up the great work.
Thanks a bunch for your video! I made my Shokz purchase after watching your review and just completed my first run this morning with no issues at all. I was worried I would have issues since i run in the morning cold temps with a beanie/skull hat and wasnt sure if it would interfere and did not. I've used earbuds for the past several years and I sweat alot which somehow always made my skull cap tap buttons causing music to pause, skip to next song etc which was so frustrating. None of this at all with the Shokz this morning. Thanks again!
I do have Aftershockz Aeropex and initially I bought it for cycling, but soon realised the wind noise completely overwhelms any sound from the headset. It's more practical for walking and running. Also the bluetooth connectivity is phenomenal! especially in comparison to sony wf-1000xm4.
So while I normally never buy tech without watching your reviews, couldn’t find one from you on these, so I literally went out on a limb and just bought one yesterday! I have the aeropex, and was happy, but wanted to try these. I have a certain amount of hearing loss in my one off my ears, do this technology has been a Godsend! Looking forward to see how these compare to the aeropex.
I had to re-film this video and the vivomove Sport video due to some audio issues while filming, so that's why this is a day late. Hope these work out for you! I have the OpenMoves and can confirm these deliver quite a bit more low end. Thanks!
@@DesFit good to hear (no pun intended)! Bone conduction is great for people like me with a little hearing loss. Gotta say, I know that they get a bad rap for sound quality, but I think that the aeropex actually produce a quality sound. Not quite my AirPod Pros, but a surprisingly quality sound, IMHO. Plus, again, with my sudden onset semi-hearing loss, the Pros aren’t quite as effective for me. Do you know if there will be an aeropex 2, or are these the new line?
I have the Aeropex ones, and they're probably my favourite pair of headphones. They're also great for taking calls and video conferencing. I have some Sony WF-1000XM3s which sound fantastic and then I have these cheap ones which I don't even know the name of, but they're kinda like Airpods with the sticks cut off, even the sound quality is similar, and they're great for when I'm in bed and you kinda just forget that you're even wearing them because they're so light and the charging case is small enough that they're just easy to always have with you wherever you go. Anyway, great review. These will be the ones I get if my Aeropex ever give up the ghost... or the following generation if all goes well with them!
@Vince Hey man, thanks for the comment! I too own the 1000XM3s and consider buying the Shokz, but afraid of being disappointed from poor sound quality. Can you please briefly compare between the two?
@@ranyalbegwein7470 The Sony's give you a very full and immersive sound, but I love the Shokz because you kinda forget you're wearing them. The sound seems to magically enter your brain, but you still have a decent awareness of what's going on around you. I live right by the sea, and when I take the dog for a walk I prefer using the Shokz because even though I can hear the wind, I can also hear the music better than with the Sony's, where the noise cancelling seems to accentuate the wind sound, and even with it turned off, it still interferes too much. I like the Shokz when I still want to be part of the world, with some music playing in the background. I like the Sony's when I want to shut the world out.
I tried these on today at a store and I was BLOWN AWAY> I was unaware of bone conduction technology...and simply could not believe the sound! I tried snapping my fingers to see if I would hear them with the headphones on ..and I did not! I will keep my eye on these down the road!
Nice review, and I appreciate your giving some tradeoffs. I ended up ordering the OpenRun instead for now as my first pair and see how well I like them.
I own a set and I love them. The pause lasts in memory for a good 10 minutes so you don't have to reset play on your phone frequently which is a great feature. The phone calls work with amazing clarity. One trick is to have a little moisture between your skin and contact points and they won't move and the volume works better.
I absolutely love mine and won’t ever go back to in ear buds again. I don’t need the extra bass or surround sound when working out or on calls and for traveling a have a pair of nice Sony complete ear covering noise cancellation ones I use for that. If you get a chance to review the Bose open ear sport ones that would be awesome as the one thing I like about those is no wrap around the head which when doing strength training on a bench/ground it can get in the way and sometimes when I grab a bottle from my hydration vest on my back it can get caught… I know first world problems but would be interesting to see the pros and cons of each for sure. Appreciate all the reviews and I am just waiting for the Fenix 7 to actually come out. 😂
In ear and on ear headphones have always made my ears hot and sweaty when worn for extended periods or when I am physically active. I love my Aeropex because they are comfortable and don't make me sweat even when worn for hours. They are not as high fidelity as some other headphones I own but they more than make up for it in comfort for long gaming sessions, audiobooks, or exercising.
I have the opencomm shokz and they have become my daily! I don't know if the open run has a better frequency balance, but I use an equalizer app and the difference in sound quality is night and day EQ vs non-EQ. Way too much mids in the sound mix, so the EQ cleans it up perfectly. The opencomm is excluded from the shokz app btw, so I'm unable to use that app to equalize the sound
Great review DesFit. Love your channel, so informative. I've just recently bought the AFTERSHOKZ Xtrainerz as they have the built in 4 GB MP3 player. They're designed for swimmers but I use them for running and couldn't be happier. No issues with hearing my music even when there is traffic and like you say sometimes I forget I'm even wearing them. They're so comfortable and light. I did initially think to buy the OpenRun Pro until I realised it was just a Bluetooth headset. Never run with my phone and my watch is the Fenix 6 solar.
Great review!! The Shokz are the only ones worth buying as far as bone conduction tech. I’ve tried a few and they were trash! I use them mostly for work. I work with my hands and it’s good to be able to hear my surroundings. I mostly listen to audiobooks and podcasts more than music. They have great battery life too
Since I travel, I prefer an easily replaceable charging cable. Cables sometimes make new friends. I bought a generic bone conduction headphone for $25 with micro-USB charging. Comparing it to the Shokz OpenRun Pro mini ($179), the audio quality is remarkably similar. The cheaper one fits my head better than the Pro. They are both similarly built, but the cheaper one with older generation Bluetooth takes 5 seconds more to switch between devices. It doesn't have a quick charge. I am not sure about the durability of both. The full volume is muffled but much louder than the Pro. For my 1/2 to 1 hour, 5 days a week, where I care about being spatially aware, I am happy with $154 savings and audio quality. Hope this supplements this fantastic review from Des.
2 current favourites: Aeropex & beats fit pro (both for outdoor running). “Shokz” as they renamed their company, make great products. I ran an ultra and I think the battery was at 20% after 8 hours. So if these sound better than the Aeropex, that’s noteworthy.
I have the beats fit pro as well. So far they are the only earbuds I have found that don't end up causing discomfort after more than 30 minutes of use. They're pretty dang awesome! I've got these Shokz on the way, and am excited to give them a try. It would be nice not to have to worry about earbuds at all anymore!
@@RaD_ian dang... I really wanted to like them. The sound was not awesome but pretty dang good for what they are. They fit very well in most circumstances! But...I had to return them in the end. The wire behind my head was just too much if I wanted to wear them while laying down or just relaxing (wish it was adjustable somehow). Plus they weren't comfortable at all when wearing my beanie and/or a mask. I was very sad to see them go because I loved not having buds jammed in my ear canals, but they just didn't work out
I was wearing earpods for my last airplane travel and as soon as I got to the airport I realized they're the most uncomfortable thing ever if you need to be aware of your surrounding. I came across this a couple of days ago, and after watching this review, I'm sure that they will perfectly fit the bill for me. I'll let you know how they work for me.
Again great review Des, thanks. I use the aeropex all the time, indoor and outdoor cycling, running, public transportation, and meetings when I’m not in my home office. Too bad you can’t compare them to the Aeropex gen7, I am really interested what the sound quality difference is.
I brought 2 pairs a regular for my hubby and a mini pair for me. I had to give mine away. They felt so loose on my head I did not like them. I expected them to snug a bit to your head like head phones. I felt if I’d wear them to run they’d slip off. Had to wear a cap for them to stay fit. Then it made it worst the vibration conduction on my bone was too much. The sound however is amazing. You hear your surroundings clearly and the sound is crisp. They are made mainly for men when bigger heads.
In fact, I am delighted with this very lightweight audio headset, incredibly comfortable, with sound quality that is sufficient, and moreover, it performs much better than far more sophisticated products for making phone calls. It even works well for WhatsApp calls, which is not always the case with other headsets. I am much more critical regarding the non-standard charger, which is truly bothersome. In fact, unlike most other headsets, if we forget the charging cable, we cannot replace it with a standard USB cable that we can find everywhere... we have to store the headset and wait until we return to charge it.
I also have an Openrun Pro. Tell me about my feelings, sound quality, and noise reduction. It works well and is also very light, making it very comfortable to carry. But the waterproof grade is not high, only Bluetooth mode without MP3 mode. In contrast, my other Bone conduction headphone--Wissonly Hi Runner is better. In terms of sound quality, the two are similar, but its waterproof level is higher, and there is also an MP3 mode that can be used while swimming. It also has 32GB of memory, everything is great!
Just ordered mine 2 days ago. My job has a no headphones policy.... but my dual speakers keep pissing off only 1 of my 6 supervisors... so I bought these and.... I guess... will see what happens, next week... wish me luck.
I LOVE MY AEROPEX, lost them for a while in my move down to an actual house from a tiny condo. Then found them again. Which has been great, since I mow my own lawn (about half an acre of the bumpiest lawn thanks to being close to the Gulf Coast and poor lawn management for nearly 2 decades of neglect and hurricanes), while also having to watch/wrangle two large dogs that I've now let run free while I mow, so they're not confined to the tiny backyard. BUT they need an upgrade. Annoying they kept the proprietary charger.
Love my Aftershokz. Use them at the gym and running. Any other type of headphone gives me a headache after about 30 minutes, but I can wear my aftershokz all day. I forget I’m wearing them pretty frequently too.
Haha … I watched to the Helmet wearing point in the video and got a phone call. I was in a shop yesterday after your reply arrived and bought them. Apologies my man 💯🙏🙏🙏🙏 ….. thank you again. I’d never have thought of buying a set of these before I saw this video post by you. 💯
Thanks for the video. I might get these, but at $249 I was hoping you could test them on the indoor rower. If the loud fan noise is still audible over RUclips videos or podcasts they may not be worth it.
Another great review, as always. Just curious what brand jacket are you wearing? Looks like a great form fitting jacket for running in this cold weather.
I used to have areopex, but I lost them :(. I had the problem with them, because they hurt me while wearing the motorcycle helmet after about half an hour. After depressed state caused by their loss, I went back to my previous pair- aftershokz air. And surprisingly, even after two hours, they do not hurt me at all! That's because of its soft rubber used in older generations, which is better for this purpose. But while riding a bike, aftershokz aeropex are clearly better, mostly because of lack of this terrible oversteering on max volume.
Thanks for great review. I just got them, and they also come with a strap. In the manual nothing is being mentioned. I’m not sure if that’s an additional accessory? If so would you have information on how to use it? Can’t find anything on RUclips. Thanks
The one annoying thing on the old models was a really loud bleeping sound when adjusting volume. Does the new model still have this. You could not switch off or reduce the sound on the old version

I just bought these and your review makes me feel better about my purchase 😎👍
Nice! Hope you’re enjoying them!
How are they holding up 1 year later?
Just got a set been using them for a few days now. I have to say liking the fact that I can still hear my surroundings.
👍
I just ordered mine due to this review. Thank you.
Enjoy!
How are they holding up 2 years later?
If you're a runner (and don't need to usually wear a toque/beanie), these are a must.
Always solid advice and reviews from you! Thanks so much. I get vertigo from wearing in ear. These will be the ones I purchase. Thank you DesFit! 🙌🏻
Glad the information helps! Thanks Joal!
Nice! Sounds like you have a great combo of headphones there. Thanks!
@@vince7245 Thank you so much for the detailed response! It helped me a lot!
Sounds like a gamechanger - i love listening to the music while riding, yet i’ve always wanted to be aware of my surroundings
I tried these on today at a store and I was BLOWN AWAY> I was unaware of bone conduction technology...and simply could not believe the sound! I tried snapping my fingers to see if I would hear them with the headphones on ..and I did not! I will keep my eye on these down the road!
Thanks
You're welcome and thanks for the Super Thanks!
Excellent video. First time listener/watcher. Definitely worth a subscribe.
Thanks so much and welcome!
Wow nice review! I wanted to get a few answers and You just sold them to me 💪🏻😜
Ordered them through your link
Cheers
Thanks so much and enjoy!
thanks for the video DesFit,going to make a purchase right now.
Check out the new versions! ruclips.net/video/LPk_9gPdUog/видео.htmlsi=PWlTC05NyeRQvrfk
Man I love my Aeropex!!! I just wish they did a full release of the OpenRun Pros with all colors and the Mini frame.
absolutely need that mini frame, agreed
nice job, everything I needed to know in 6 mins!
Nice review, and I appreciate your giving some tradeoffs. I ended up ordering the OpenRun instead for now as my first pair and see how well I like them.
Let us know how they work for you! Thanks!
I own a set and I love them. The pause lasts in memory for a good 10 minutes so you don't have to reset play on your phone frequently which is a great feature. The phone calls work with amazing clarity. One trick is to have a little moisture between your skin and contact points and they won't move and the volume works better.
I LOVE THESE!!! I'm definitely ordering a second pair.
Great review. Out in UK on 28 Feb
Thanks and enjoy!
Just bought them and LOVE them thanks for the review
Glad you like them 👍 Thanks!
How are they holding up 2 years later?
Still great
Thanks for an excellent review.. I am gonna try a set of these...
Sure thing. I hope you enjoy them!
I’ve just ran a 110k race and I used them all the time, with sunglasses and cap, and I’m gonna use them till they don’t sound no more. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
They have great battery life too
Good review , Thanks !
You’re welcome. Thanks!
Great overview!
Thanks!
Can I use them as walking talk
If someone else has the same
Like Nextel I heard. Is that truth
Please if anyone can answer 🙏?
Great stuff! I'll have to check these out. I have a previous version that I use while cycling.
I just purchased using your link!
Thanks Wayne! I hope you enjoy them!
@@DesFit I'll give you feedback!
Please do!
@@Greenman247 hi. Following up on the Shokz and how it's going for you
@@RaD_ian dang...
I was very sad to see them go because I loved not having buds jammed in my ear canals, but they just didn't work out
Great review, helped me make my decision to buy a pair.
Awesome review! Liked & subscribed
Thanks!
Nice job. Thanks for posting.
You’re welcome
I brought 2 pairs a regular for my hubby and a mini pair for me. I had to give mine away. They felt so loose on my head I did not like them. I expected them to snug a bit to your head like head phones. I felt if I’d wear them to run they’d slip off. Had to wear a cap for them to stay fit. Then it made it worst the vibration conduction on my bone was too much. The sound however is amazing. You hear your surroundings clearly and the sound is crisp. They are made mainly for men when bigger heads.
Great review. Thanks
You’re welcome. Thanks!
Is this wissonly Hi Runner suitable for swimming? What is its waterproof level?
@@butterjummy-gj1bn Its waterproof grade is IPX8, So it is suitable for swimming and other underwater sports.
The fact that you didn’t completely suck off the company tells me this is an honest review
Just ordered mine 2 days ago. My job has a no headphones policy.... but my dual speakers keep pissing off only 1 of my 6 supervisors... so I bought these and.... I guess... will see what happens, next week... wish me luck.
Good luck!
Thanks for a great video. Exactly what I am looking for.👌👌👌
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Very helpful! Thanks! Thumbs up
You’re welcome!
Love my Aftershokz. Use them at the gym and running. Any other type of headphone gives me a headache after about 30 minutes, but I can wear my aftershokz all day. I forget I’m wearing them pretty frequently too.
Nice!
Thanks for the review. Yet, I'm wondering what the black band is for that came with the Shokz Openrun Pro
🤔🤔🤔🤯
Thank you for a very honest and frank review! This review just sealed the deal for me as you answered the questions I had before buying.
Glad to help. Thanks!
Excellent vid. Thank you.
Thanks!
Would've liked some testimony on how the grip and audio quality hold up in heavy rain but good review nonetheless
I have Aftershockz Aeropex and they are great!!!!
Nice!
What sunglass model are those? I like purple and I want to get those now.
Would you be reviewing the Sony Linkbuds? Would love to hear your thoughts between the Sony and Shokz.
How are they with bike helmet and sunglasses please? Thanks Des. Great video and review as always.
I went over that in the video
Haha … I watched to the Helmet wearing point in the video and got a phone call. I was in a shop yesterday after your reply arrived and bought them. Apologies my man 💯🙏🙏🙏🙏 ….. thank you again. I’d never have thought of buying a set of these before I saw this video post by you. 💯
Thanks for the video. I might get these, but at $249 I was hoping you could test them on the indoor rower. If the loud fan noise is still audible over RUclips videos or podcasts they may not be worth it.
Obviously it'll be audible you dummy. Your ears aren't plugged up
Cheers Mate
🙌
The microphone / noise canceling is fine as long as you aren’t riding a bike or running with wind.
Awesome review, is it worth the upgrade to the pro model? Thanks
Amazing review thanks for sharing, does this brand have tracking mood just is case they are lost
They don't have that sort of feature.
Another great review, as always. Just curious what brand jacket are you wearing? Looks like a great form fitting jacket for running in this cold weather.
It’s an Adidas Terrex jacket but sadly they don’t make this exact style anymore. Love their stuff!
Thanks
Wen ever I need to buy someth8ng new I start on ur page .😅😂thanks for this
You’re welcome and thanks!
The one annoying thing on the old models was a really loud bleeping sound when adjusting volume. Does the new model still have this. You could not switch off or reduce the sound on the old version
Best purchase, it's amazing!!!
Great video
Thanks!
Thank you Sir!😀
Great video. Subbed 👍🏻👍🏻🇳🇴
