As a retired pro drum tech this gentleman is spot on. You have to do it all or something is left unseen. Durring a show you never never never take your eyes off your guy. He's 100% correct in saying that's when something goes wrong I would have drummers and laugh at me because my head would be moving with them as they did a fill or certain things all night long and I took great pride in the fact that every time they looked back at me that I already knew what the problem was and was ready to deal with it. And one thing I always took pride in was the fact that I was a representative of the act that I worked for. I went out of my way to answer questions to fans and treated all local crews with kindness and respect. Because if you're an a****** those same crews and fans aren't going to say that the drum tech from the band was an a****** they're going to say the band or assholes that's not cool or fair to the band.
Sounds to me like you have a great work ethic my friend. That’s something lacking with some people today but there are still a lot who do have it. Always take pride in what ya do.
I wonder what the stories was why Mikes longtime tech Jose wasn't around to then have Eric take over as tech. Jose returned after those couple years absent and became tech again...I think even still to this day.
@@musiqsoundsproductions I think Eric has been Mike mangini's tech for awhile. Eric I guess was a temp drum tech while Jose was off during other tours/bands. Once Jose came back Eric went on his way to tech for other projects but has been Mangini's tech with Dream Theater
One of the most wild things to me about touring is you get help with all your shit. Lol to me thats wild. To have someone clean your shit. Man. I just wouldnt be able to cope lol. I know you only get it if you bring it but theres usually no shortage of roadies
He's gotta have that one dollar now.
