just to let you know, I had a Ford tech come over to my place, and in less then five minutes, we had the cowling off, which made access to the heater hoses real easy, less then an hour total time...
I just had a shop today quote me almost 800 and told me it would take 3-4 hrs.. I found the part for 68.00 online. They were charging me 170 for the part and 3 gal of coolant. Glad i found this video.
I just got done with a heater hose replacement. When I started the car, the temperature guage immediately pinned itself on "H" with a high engine temperature fault warning. Engine went into limp mode.
I have a dumb question I can’t get the hose on the bottom to come off. I was able to slide the clamp down but the hose refuses to come off. Any suggestions?
As long as the clamp is off the hose should come off too. If you can get something down in there to grip on the hose you could carefully try to spin it and break the seal. I guess just keep messing with it and hopefully it’ll come loose.
Take a photo of your wiper blades before you take them off. If you put the wrong one on top, or not in the right place, it will destroy your blades. Don’t ask me how I know. :’(
I'm going to have to check this on my wife's 2014 model (that was built in 2013). It has had a slow coolant leak for 2 years, and it only seems to occur occasionally in winter. When it does let loose, the entire coolant overflow tank can drain in 1-3 days. The leak shows up on the ground almost exactly below where this hose is located. I'm betting this darn hose is the culprit!
I just found that my 13 Escape was leaking from the same spot but I did not replace the whole heater hose, I just replaced the O-Ring and that's it, leak its gone.
I have the same issue. I took the o-ring out of the tee. After eight years of service it looks like it is a square profile now but I am sure it was round when first installed. Do you remember what size o-ring you put in? thanks
Where did you find the O-ring? That’s the only problem with mine too, besides the fact that I lost the spring clip somewhere under the hood. it just popped all the way out when I Pried it up.
I can’t remember for sure, it was so long ago. The heater hose is up high in the back so it could be leaking and running down something else making it seem like it’s in a different place than it really is. Sorry I’m not much help on that one.
If I would have let it run out of coolant it would of yes. But personally I stayed on top of refilling it often so it never overheated on me. This could definitely be a cause of an over heating engine if left unnoticed.
@@SouthernIndianaOutdoors having a hard time getting the metal hose clamps to release on the hose… how did you get them to release? Talking about the ones that came with the new part. Metal ones…
@@SouthernIndianaOutdoors I got it finally, you have to get a small piece of metal to break off on the 5/8 hose (or at least that was what happen) the 1/4 one just had to Be bent up and then it unsnapped!

Love how you kept your cool in a difficult spot to work, thanks!

Great info! Thanks
The bottom heater hose, at that twist clamp is what started leaking on mine. I cut the hose, and used regular hose clamps and fixed it for $6.
That’s a great idea! Cheep and easy! Can’t beat it!
awesome guy, been trying find that leak for awhile ! Thumbs up from B.C. Canada !
Glad it helped!
Nice free ad for Burris. They are a great parts house for sure. Great video dawg!
Thank you for the video. It appears my local Ford dealer is asking $800 to do the same job.
Gianni B. Wow that’s crazy! Thanks for watching. I hope the video helped you fix it yourself.

Amazing man, this helped me find my leak… I hope, wish you had the part number… if I find it will add to my comment.
Thank you!
I'm wondering if it's easier to take off the wiper and the cowl so that you have all that extra space. Should probably only take 5-10 min to take off?
Yeah, looking back I think that would be the best route to go.
@@SouthernIndianaOutdoors i have a job replacing that line tomorrow and your video was helpful though, thanks

Take wiper arms off. The cowling has clips along the front. The piece under that has four bolts and clips that pop out. Much easier access.
Thank you! Hopefully that helps others!

Nice guide. Sadly mine was the engine coolant return line that broke off from the metal part

@@myoutuber77 If I remember correctly the new heater hose just snapped in to the existing fittings and I didn’t replace any o-rings.

Pulling the hood cowl makes it way easier
I wish there was a way to show us if it didn’t connect right a tutorial
How did you get the small tube out?
I cut my off and took it off like that.
Do you have the motor craft part#? Trying to look it up to buy it
Here is the part number. CV6Z18472AB
I’m about to order the part. Looks identical but the part number ends in an S instead of AB. Its from Rock Auto .
Could this leak cause dripping to the drivers feet in the cab?
Shawn Slatt I honestly don’t know. You might have to check out some forums and see if anyone else is having that problem.
Unfortunately, that sounds like it could be your heater core leaking.
Or the hose leading up to it.
Can you tell me how long the total job took? Ford dealer is telling me 4 hours of labor.
It might of taken me 2-3 hours but after doing it once I could do it quicker the second time. 4 hours seems like a little overkill.
Was that causing the car to overheat?
It never overheated. Just had a coolant leak. If I woulda let it get low it woulda overheated. But it was leaking from the heater hose.

You should have taken off the cowl under the wipers, would have made this job a lot easier
You didn't show how you got the the connections off do you twist do you fold is there something you got to do or what so this is a thumbs down for me
Thank you!
Thanks bub
