Note the importance of adequate recovery. It is built in based on the objective of the workout. I enjoyed watching one of my two favorite athletes (along with Mike Trout) putting in the work we never see. It is no secret why this athlete is great.
Like many who have commented I am a retired strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, wellness supervisor, and so on. This is highly advanced training. I have not seen these exercises before, but, even if I had I could not train them. As we all saw this type of very specific training requires feedback and cues. This professional has a much different background (engineering) and knows precisely why and what each move is trying to accomplish. It is proprioception like I have never seen it. CMC is letting his central nervous system (our control center) take control. Very difficult to teach. And, the trainer better know exactly what they are asking the athlete to do, and why. I was a decent coach, but, at 69 years of age I am a dinosaur. Extinct. I would have to learn all of the newest methods, and being of the Vince Lombardi school I would have to be open to new ideas. We old school coaches have to change.
This is superb it’s the bodies small intricate details. I think folks expect to see him squatting 5 plates but it’s more than that to be elite. Brady had his pliability and that worked for him. This works for Christian and he feel benefit from it.
I read the comments saying the weight was light and then I watched and laughed cause doing Olympic movements isn’t easy nor should it be super heavy for an athlete
It always amazes me how light most nfl players train. Yes, you have outliers but most of the guys train pretty light and it truly amazes me because their on field performance is beyond good.
@@Asymmetrical.athlete_I mean if you think about it they also have to train heavy with this light explosive work , otherwise you’ll just get out muscled on the field , since he is a running back , I bet his heavy lifting are the quads !
@@WeArePress This is one of the better workout videos I have watched as you are not showing just clips and highlights but show the complete workout. I have a greater appreciation for the time spent on a proper warmup with stretching and mobility work prior to lifting. Thanks!

He’s like very few I’ve ever met or worked with. His attention to detail is off the charts. He knows what he needs, what his goal is and invests in the people, modalities and training/work he believes are important. And it’s very intentional as someone mentioned in a previous comment. it does have a stretch reflex, just no landing. There is a stretch reflex in the drop during the static jump. Stretch reflex and landing is not the same
They are using an Olympic movement the way it should be used with athletes. These are not powerlifting movements. I’m sure he does some max effort work also but, shouldn’t be done with Olympic lifts. This is a huge mistake high school and college strength coaches make. Each type of lift has an appropriate protocol that goes with it in the world of strength training for athletes. These aren’t gym rats.
Power clean is also way easier and safer to max out than snaches. Still hard tho. This is perfect way to use olympic lifts. Keep them light and fast. Do the super heavy stuff with the trap bar etc
Ish…obvi half of the NFL talent is the fact the dude just carries around 235 of muscle. A LOT of humans have to work WAY more volume into their routine to build that muscle, and thus need different routines…Football supplements the volume too, but just playing football probably gets him 80% of the way there. Also how is this dude sweating through his shirt doing this workout doe? That part confuses me lol
Needs to work on hitting more vertical and higher on the hips. He is pulling from almost clean position. So that means he is leaning forward and not under the bar when he is jumping and pulling. This should be a simple thing to look at and see. One of the most important ques when snatching and cleaning. If you are hitting low around your knees on a clean you are pulling and jumping early, the snatch should be about at the pelvic bone. Never once does he hit triple extension, which is why they are doing this drill. By pulling early he is using his upper body and the bounce of his legs is why he is asking if the bar is to far away when he is bouncing it off his thighs. CMC if you need some real oly training I got you.
It is my hope that the mat is clean and hygienic. They are having CMC place his head and face directly onto it. As we watched the squats (snatches) it is clear that unhygienic shoes are all over the very surface that CMC was placing his head on during proprioception.
Guy who is telling him about body mechanics has APT that is quite noticeable as you can see his belt is much higher on the back of his jeans than the front.
To make the exercise plyometric he would need to reduce the height of the box and do repetitive jumps from the ground to the box and then back down at a high rate.
Also this is idiotic for a running back to be performing snatches with the risk of injury being much higher than other movements. I really can’t fathom why anyone would have him perform this movement.
Those are chin ups, not pull ups. He's such a great athlete that most of the bullshit they are making him do doesn't matter. But lesser athletes would get little benefit. That little guy at the beginning....the only thing missing was putting crystals on Christian.
Why is it bullshit? They were just making do stretches and some mind muscle connection stuff before moving on to doing snatches (the best single movement for training "explosiveness") and box jumps. Sounds pretty legit to me.
Couldn’t have said it better. These trainers making money acting like “you too” can be like Mcaffrey with this type of stuff. The guy is a freak athlete. I’m sure putting more pressure on the big toe is really going to improve his performance on the field.
@@MrSpicabooo His genetics are making these soccer mom workouts look better than they are. He was pretty much just muscling up the bar on the Olympic lifts which defeats the purpose. Only good thing was chin ups.
