One of my instructors marched for Bluecoats and someone came up to him and said "Hey, weren't you in that show?..what's it called..slanted?" I couldn't stop laughing! Great video!!
I did so because of the Jersey member who posted earlier, I merely continued the strain. It was a pleasure sharing that site, and thank God it was the show site too!
If you thought it was bad at DCI, you should have seen BOA this year. I watched all the bands at BOA Indianapolis super regionals, and grand national semi-finals. I heard Simple Gifts, or The Firebird performed by 15 different bands total. By the end of the season I swore if I heard either of those pieces of music performed on the field ever again I would strangle the director.
Funnily enough the cadets narrator sat right in front of my friend and I at a DCI show. My friend said he didn't care for the Cadet's show last year and he turned around and said, "43 men have stood before our nation..." and we were just like, "oh my gosh you are the guy"
Marched with the Colts in 2011 and 2014 (aged out this summer, and met David on the age out field. Really cool guy!), and that was perfect for the Colts in this video! I died at the Holes reference with the Crossmen! Definitely the best DCI in 2 minutes of the 3 that have been made!
This was my first year marching and I was a conductor for Surf. This was such a good video and I'll tell you you never fail to entertain! Hilarious Surf bit too!
I loveddd Bluecoats show Tilt, loved the music and everything about that show, plus a guys from my high school marched in that show so it was awesome to support him too
This cracks me up every time.. and regarding the last part of the video, this was my 4th year with the Mandarins. You get our shows spot on every time haha
This past summer was my first year in drum corps with the guardians drum and bugle corps :) we were an open class corps and it was tons of fun being apart of it! :)
I played trumpet in BD 2014 and it was my second year. Lets just say that the "tambourine dance," as we liked to call it, had all the guys staring over at the colorguard every time since April... Damn.
I would so love to meet you at grand nats this year!!! Unfortunately, we probably wouldn't be able to split off, and we are already jam packed as it is. One of two Texas bands going this year, I'm really excited for our chances.
But I didn't march Blue Devils A corps though. I just liked BDA's show this year last year my favorite show was SCV Les Miserables. Your favorite show always changes.
Tracer Hayden It's cool man no worries hope to see you on the field if you can still march. I'm a oldie now :P I can see other people take my place and shine in the limelight that's the good thing. I can't wait to see more amazing performances as the years go by.
where does the unibrowed woman saying hellooo come from??? lmao I never marched because of money and the Marine Corps but I was in the 2011 army all American band. really enjoy these vids!!
I ALMOST DIED OMG XDXD I know I'm a little late, but holy crap I've seen all those shows (not in person :P) and they were so accurate XDXD Seen your other videos and they're a band geek's dream :3 SUBSCRIBED
Dash Vader actually im pretty sure the soloist's costume change from the white to silver was suppose to represent reincarnation. at least thats what my friend from phantom told me.
Laurie Pavero Well in the actual play, the finale is that Sigfried (the Prince and protagonist) is tricked into doing something that will cause Odette (the Swan Queen Sigfried fell in love with at the beginning) to stay under a spell put on her and be stuck as a swan forever. Sigfried chooses to die with Odette rather than force her to be a swan. The show was rather different story-wise to the play though, at least to what I figured out, so I'm not entirely sure. Another possibility: Von Rothbart (the sorcerer who put the spell on Odette) dies as a result of Sigfried and Odette sacrificing themselves. Those were the only deaths to occur in the play. It either has something to do with them, or is Phantom's own retelling of the story entirely.
Okay just wondering, did anybody realize that all of the corps were listed in placement order...except Santa Clara Vanguard and Carolina Crown, which should be switched? Not to criticize you JDfuncorps, but I am suprised that I didn't catch that.
I really liked Santa Clara Vanguard's show and I also like Boston Crusaders show and I'm going to be at Grand Nationals this year so if you go there I would like to meet you.
hey david just wondering if you could give some advice or make a video on teching. ive had two years of drum corps experience just dont know how to get started and help

will you tell me how that like describes the coats show like the THX logo tilted? im sorry im dumb please halp!
Nick Lawver It's a reference to the pitch bend at the end of their show that sounded a lot like the THX sound effect. And of course, it was TILT-ed :)
I aged out of surf this year.
I loved the deal with ukulele for every corps that did Copland. Was hilarious.
Hey dude it's Ethan
SailinSales yo
That was the perfect description of TILT! I don't know how you thought of that, but you are a genius.
Academy 2014 Age out, sharing the love.
I felt so fancy, you already know
Isaac!!!!
Isaac!
I love how you used the Surf motto and you're from Academy haha.
I remember we shared a housing site with you guys in Texas I believe.
I did so because of the Jersey member who posted earlier, I merely continued the strain. It was a pleasure sharing that site, and thank God it was the show site too!
Marched my rookie year with this age out :3 'Tis K.P.
My favorite show was immortal, so glad to see the cavaliers coming back!
Oh my god the Simple Gifts lines killed me. I heard it so many times this year I started rolling my eyes at it.
If you thought it was bad at DCI, you should have seen BOA this year. I watched all the bands at BOA Indianapolis super regionals, and grand national semi-finals. I heard Simple Gifts, or The Firebird performed by 15 different bands total. By the end of the season I swore if I heard either of those pieces of music performed on the field ever again I would strangle the director.
mr troll face Out of those 15 which was the best?
On the live cast they also had commercial with simple gifts to convey young talent... If simple gifts is our future, then I'm a little disappointed.
Frosthunder i saw it lol
Frosthunder Simple Gifts is like the Trololo song of the marching music world
Funnily enough the cadets narrator sat right in front of my friend and I at a DCI show.

I marched in my first DCI season with 2014 City Sound. It was super fun and awesome, and I will be returning there this year!

I would so love to meet you at grand nats this year!!! Unfortunately, we probably wouldn't be able to split off, and we are already jam packed as it is.
One of two Texas bands going this year, I'm really excited for our chances.
I can't get enough of this video. Great job :)
"That's not what a magnolia tree looks like…" thank you David!!! But still, PRAISE TREESUS!!!!
Completely lost myself at "Time Trip." Marched the Scouts this season, and that face was a perfect compliment to your "analysis".
Crown was my favorite! But blue coats had an amazing show too 😁👌
Great video favorite show was BD Feillinsque and I marched BDB 2009-2012 and skipped a year and marched age out with BDB 2014.
But I didn't march Blue Devils A corps though. I just liked BDA's show this year last year my favorite show was SCV Les Miserables. Your favorite show always changes.
Magnifique. Great show.
Tracer Hayden It's cool man no worries hope to see you on the field if you can still march. I'm a oldie now :P I can see other people take my place and shine in the limelight that's the good thing. I can't wait to see more amazing performances as the years go by.

Phantom Regiment was spot on... Even though the character didn't die, but I'm sure somebody in the show dies. I don't remember.
Actually, Phantom DIDN'T KILL ANYONE THIS YEAR!
Who woulda thunk it?
Dash Vader actually im pretty sure the soloist's costume change from the white to silver was suppose to represent reincarnation. at least thats what my friend from phantom told me.
Oh, I don't even know. I'm not sure if I've actually watched the show. If I did it was so long ago I can't remember.
Laurie Pavero Well in the actual play, the finale is that Sigfried (the Prince and protagonist) is tricked into doing something that will cause Odette (the Swan Queen Sigfried fell in love with at the beginning) to stay under a spell put on her and be stuck as a swan forever.
