Elastic and Inelastic Collisions

  • When you take a shot on a pool table or tackle someone in a football game, you're participating in a collision. But the two events we just mentioned are totally different kinds of collisions! But what are elastic collisions, and what are inelastic collisions? We have to learn the varieties and what they mean for momentum and energy.

    The way you make physics easy and interesting is rare, most youtubers and professors make me want to drop the book on my head, and on top of that I'm studying from Physics by Serway as my main source so it's not much help. Thank you once again! You're the BEST!

    Why can't every physics teacher or a professor explain it that simple

    • @ivoryas1696
      @ivoryas1696 2 года назад +12

      LexSystem
      There are a multitude of possible reasons. Many have simply lost sight of the basics and may or may not care enough to "dumb" their physics knowledge down in order to be able to properly teach it.

    Likely because it is 6am and I'm not running anywhere near full speed, but I was trying to get my mind around why we cannot use U-238 directly in weapons or more importantly in RTGs. The short answer was "because U-238 is famous for its inelasticity". My brain went offline and smoke came out of my left ear along with some sparks. Thanks to your down to earth explanation, I grasp it entirely and immediately. Thank you, brother. Sometimes you just need a nice (figuratively speaking) cup of mental coffee. Cheers.

    The comprehensions that you put at the end of every lecture is the best thing. It allows us to solve a real life and exam problem with the stuff we have learnt in the lecture. And since it's just after the lecture, we can test our understanding of the lecture freshly just after watching
