Elastic and Inelastic Collisions

- When you take a shot on a pool table or tackle someone in a football game, you're participating in a collision. But the two events we just mentioned are totally different kinds of collisions! But what are elastic collisions, and what are inelastic collisions? We have to learn the varieties and what they mean for momentum and energy.

I'm taking an online physics class and was just not enjoying how confused I always was. Thanks Prof. Dave!
Do You play pubg
I feel ya!
Hey aidan
Teacher : can’t teach online
Proffesor Dave: where did that bring you? Back to me
yes :)
@@gunnarsilas5872 😐
@Jaxen Alfonso is this like a meme
man i been watching professor dave since like 7th grade and now im graduating high school time flies
Ah, a person of culture I see.
The way you make physics easy and interesting is rare, most youtubers and professors make me want to drop the book on my head, and on top of that I'm studying from Physics by Serway as my main source so it's not much help. Thank you once again! You're the BEST!
@yesmin Reeves 😑
@Connor Huh well tried😂
Why can't every physics teacher or a professor explain it that simple
LexSystem
There are a multitude of possible reasons. Many have simply lost sight of the basics and may or may not care enough to "dumb" their physics knowledge down in order to be able to properly teach it.
They aren’t as passionate,
They just want the paycheck
They use more words to explain than actually defining the topic
My teacher is the same way. She either doesn’t care enough to help us explain, or she doesn’t wanna teach more than she has to in order to get her paycheck
thanks science Jesus
Got my exam in classical physics this week, been reviewing your playlist, the comprehension I get from you is priceless! thanks man
this video just taught me what my physics teacher couldn't in the course of a few weeks. you just saved me from so much stress and potentially saved my grade, thank you for being so concise with your information and keep doing what you do :,)
I really want to thank you. I knew I liked physics but the class i have been taking is really focused on deriving the equation over explaining what anything is. This has definitely resparked my joy for the subject.
Your videos for physics and biology are the best! I've tried watching so many but your simplistic explainatation and practice at the end/summary is great!
Yup
My teacher takes an hour and a half but you explained it very well detailed in just 5 minutes.
My teacher should learn how to teach like you.
Likely because it is 6am and I'm not running anywhere near full speed, but I was trying to get my mind around why we cannot use U-238 directly in weapons or more importantly in RTGs. The short answer was "because U-238 is famous for its inelasticity". My brain went offline and smoke came out of my left ear along with some sparks. Thanks to your down to earth explanation, I grasp it entirely and immediately. Thank you, brother. Sometimes you just need a nice (figuratively speaking) cup of mental coffee. Cheers.
The comprehensions that you put at the end of every lecture is the best thing. It allows us to solve a real life and exam problem with the stuff we have learnt in the lecture. And since it's just after the lecture, we can test our understanding of the lecture freshly just after watching
Thank you Professor Dave,
I use your project as introduction instructional Resource Material for my Physics Student here in LAGOS, Nigeria.
God bless you tremendously. Amen.
Whoaa! These are what you call 'real academic videos'. Great job!
Proffesor Dave you explained this topic in just 5 minutes which I was trying to understand for an 2 hours really Thank you so much !!
Our Physics teacher always dumps the formulas and problems without explaining them right. I always feel frustrated cause I don't know what formulas to use. But with your videos, I was actually able to solve a problem on my own! And that's a big deal to me.^^ Thanks so much Prof. Dave!!!^-^
THIS IS EASIER THAN I THOUGHT.. WHY WHEN I DO LEARN IN MY CLASS.. I DO ALWAYS BEING STUPID BUT AT HERE I FEEL IM ACTUALLY USEFUL LMAO
Its the problem of the education system, not yours.
@@plankalkulcompiler9468 considering how much we pay to go to college or uni, one would think they put a lots of effort, like Prof. Dave does here, into helping average students understand a rather not complicated subject.
Wtf is ur profile pic pls change it pls!
you are under peer pressure as you don't feel like asking questions as you think your peers will look at you in the wrong way. at home you are comfortable... change your attitude and you will learn and don't get distracted in class
I think its because lots of professors and teachers love explaining how formulas are derived, which confuses and demotivates many students. I know everytime I see an integral in an equation I want to blow my brains out
I was having a really hard time doing physics and after I watched this I was so relieved cause now understand it so much BETTER
Extremely valuable explanation! Thank you for making the excruciating physics into something simpler!
thank you for explaining this! we looked at the formulae and did questions in class but didn’t even cover what it actually means for a collision to be elastic or inelastic 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks Professor Dave!
good video. My techa used this as a syllabus material instead of actually being present and teaching the class. Tank you so much big bro.
Thank you Sir! An hour and a half of teaching summed up in just 5 minutes.
Yes
Amazing explanation sir...Your lectures have always cleared my related doubts...
I was freaking out because I have a state-wide exam in a week, and this video greatly helped me. Thank you so much! I'll be back to tell everyone how I do (if anyone really sees this). :)

Please help me calculate this
a car of mass m moving at a speed of v1 collides and couples with the back of a truck of mass 2m moving initially in the same direction as the car at a lower v2.
a) what is the vf of the two vehicles after collision?
b) what is the change in kinetic energy of the car_truck system in a collision?
Thank you for good information and explanation
