Edit: It wasnt an apology at all, i reread it. No one apologized. Wouldn't be the first time Noel has apologized for Cody's behavior, but I don't even think it's that. Noel just started a TMG produced series, and Cody is still getting paid, the audience just doesn't have to see him.

Important clarification, the message doesnt say hes stepping down entirely. Just from "day to day operations" which is just code for he'll be less front facing while still making money from it

Not being 'part of daily operations' seems like such a scummy 'way out', he is still presumably part of the company and still gonna be making bank off that

It’s very difficult to remove an owner of a company. If Cody doesn’t want to step down it would take legal proceedings and buying out his share of the company, I think. It was very messy for the Try Guys and what Ned did by sleeping with a subordinate was much worse legally as a CEO
He's not fired. At all. They're just shoving him in the background. He still owns and profits from every tmg studios video, including Noel's new series. Don't let him fool you.

important to note that Tana did mention in the podcast episode that Gabbie Hanna pulled Cody aside and told him she was underage before they slept together - that's why the Gabbie clip is being brought up now, it's not just pure speculation that Gabbie was involved
I also just finished noting that. But hopefully most people watching are already caught up on details, since this video is meant to skim those and focus on the actual response
Yall realize she says that she hooked up with him, and furthermore it’s funny that she brings it up now because she’s falling off without being in some sort of drama like this is 2018 all over again lol, but regardless if I remember correctly she was literally always around people older than her around 21-26, she was also 2 months shy of 18 years old, and she’s also stated she doesn’t or didn’t feel like a victim, it’s surprising to me that she was all like “oh no one believes me” or “no one took me seriously” like yea because we all knew you were 2 months away from 18, chose to go out there and hook up while underage, and have a reputation to fabricate controversy’s because she’s falling off, and this is no different, in fact it’s usual Tana and gabby and Trisha behaviour. All 3 creators who have fallen off because of the drama they create and feed into.
@@Fenttanyl cody chose to go out and hook up with a minor. this isn't drama. it's literally just rape. objectively rape which is why cody is quiet. but you're right. ppl shouldn't report a crime otherwise its "attention seeking". keep talking though. im sure the guy named fenttanyl has sound logic and isn't an edgy child with his own lack of the spotlight.
So basically Cody is just doing the same thing he’s done this whole time. Refuse to take accountability and make a statement on the allegations and laying low in hopes that he can continue to reap benefits from his position once the heat is off. As a former fan of Cody and Noel from his “That’s Cringe” video days and a frequent listener to TMG, I’m completely out. It is clear at this point that Cody has 0 intention to dispute the allegations or apologize and that speaks volumes on the plausibility of his innocence. I am disappointed and disgusted.
he obviously is being careful of what he says because its a crime, if he apologises he is confessing to a crime and could get criminally charged/deported
He makes a statement, He takes accountability, fucks up his own citizenship to appease a public that has alr forsaken him? Makes no sense on his end to do that, even if its out of the goodness of his heart. Dudes a pedo. We already know nothing is gonna happen to him since tana isnt reporting it, id rather not see him at all. Glad hes gone and ik hes smart enough to never come back
Just fyi, this didnt start with d'angelo's video. As you mentioned it was adressed (again) by tana over a month ago after that clip leaked and articles and videos were being made about it. So this was an ongoing topic before his video, he just brought the most attention to it because of how hard cody was trying to shut the convo down.
Plus the fact that there have been rumors about them hooking up for literal years. Like if I remember right people were speculating that Gabbie was talking about Cody in that clip when she originally put out the podcast episode.
d'angelo wallace was 100% the loudest voice and did such a phenomenal job presenting the evidence he had collected. it was being talked about but it was over once d'angelos video dropped

How have three creators been called out for being weird around minors in the past few weeks 😭 how hard is it not to message minors, or worse, sleep with them!?
I guess it’s kinda a skewed sub sample of the population who want a career as a public figure to begin with. It doesn’t mean they’re all bad by ANY means, but maybe just a higher proportion of the influencer sub-population has things like the dark triad personality traits and stuff
I don't think this necessarily applies to Cody, but in general Influencer jobs attract people with minor ego issues and turn them into major ego issues. It's the same reason most of your favorite 80s rockstars were doing the same things. It's particularly bad when the person in question is antisocial/lonely IRL and their only source of affection and validation is a horde of underage fans.
Idk I don’t think what callmecarson or tnickles did was necessarily wrong or morally wrong lol, they were both 19/20 and 21 when they were texting 17 year olds.

@@echo_sprite the fact they hooked up while she was still underage makes it not even grooming, it's just straight up pedophilia. Grooming would involve waiting until she was 18.
It isnt, this is just the first time Cody or Noel have said anything. Its obvious theres stuff going on legally for this to be the first thing to be stated publicly.
Even if he gave the most sincere apology ever you all would still rip him apart. He's recently just become a dad lol. Terminally online is a serious illness.
he has to apologize to tana, not random people on the internet. not like an apology video is ever received well, every person that does one will just get shat on more. pretty sure he knows that and will just wait
People getting angry at people like Ludwig and Charlie for not talking about things fast enough is a great example as to why I would never want to be in their position. I can't imagine my image being tainted just because I was a day late on putting out a video on a topic.
I know it’s so obnoxious especially when the person they’re badgering barely even knows Cody (ie kurtis drew danny who’ve maybe collabed with him once or twice and never make videos about stuff like this) and on the other hand it’s gotta be really difficult for someone who’s really good friends with him. There’s a lot of complicated emotions finding out something horrible about your good friend and then suddenly being expected to talk about it right away. Just leave people alone and let them do what they need to do
@@MilesToGoGoits so obnoxious definitely. if you go into any kurtis conner ig post and check the comments it’s all about cody… like kurtis probably was as in the dark as the fans were until recently

"stepping down from day to day operations" - so hes still gonna be making bank off TMG if people support. I dont think hell ever make a public appearance again, he got his bag
He can't just be fired like this because he owns a part of the company. That would mean Noel has to buy off Cody's part putting Noel and the Whole TMG company in trouble since he is left alone. That would be a suicide for Noel and TMG (idc about Cody). I feel like people forget this.
For the folks saying Cody will still just be involved behind the scenes at TMG: He OWNS the company so there’s not just a board of directors who could fire him or something. They would have to buy him out completely to fully get rid of him. That means they would be spending a massive amount of money to fire the biggest revenue producer they have. Buying him out would probably just put TMG out of business and I doubt Noel wants that.
exactly. i think the only person who could probably impact Cody's impact on the company would be Noel, likely why he cancelled his tour dates recently. Noel has been put in such a weird spot because for the past like two years they havent even really been public friends, they dont even interact online besides the podcast.
I'm lowkey pissed on Noel's behalf tbh. Cody has put him in a load of shit that he doesn't deserve to deal with. His disgusting actions are impacting Noel's career and income. Vile.
EXACTLY these people don’t get they are most likely co owners. Based off everything they’ve said, as well as the fact the letter was only signed by Cody and Noel, I’m assuming they have equalish shares in the company. Noel literally cannot fire him without Cody’s approval, or an obscene amount of money. He’s stuck in a corner here and people are acting like he’s trying everything in his power to save the guy.
@@berkly159genuine question out of curiosity since I’m not super familiar with how media companies like TMG work, but how is this different than when the Try Guys fired Ned? Weren’t all four of the Try Guys co-founders and co-owners of the company? Or is it different because Ned agreed to step down or something? I don’t doubt that what you’re saying is true because it seems obvious to me that TMG and Noel are in a huge predicament with this, I’m just curious how things would work differently in this situation but maybe I’m forgetting some of the details of the Try Guys situation and it was more complicated than I remember
I think people need to be more realistic. He co-founded TMG and co-owns it. He legally can’t be “fired” and any expectation to the contrary is simply naive. He can be asked to step back but of course he’ll continue to make money off the successful company he still owns 50% of. Capitalism, baby!
Thing is, is that I was a TMG member for a long time and comment sections for at least 5-6 months were mentioning this and people on the crew read the comments. Sometimes its obvious that Cody & Noel read them too. Not sure why noone has brought that up yet but Ive been seeing these things on the app for months at least.
The Discord mods would scrub any mention of it, and the Reddit mods were apparently scrubbing it up until recently too. These things were open secrets, they just didn't gather much momentum

Doesn't seen like an apology. It looks like Noel is attempting to say sorry or somewhat not really clean up Cody's damage. And Cody just staying low to avoid drama.
It's not an apology, it's a disclosure of the current status of TMG as a company for employees and subscribers. TMG doesn't need to apologize for Cody's actions, Cody does, but TMG needs to clarify to its employees and subscribers what has happened to it given Cody's controversy. And thus, they informed us that Cody is stepping down from an active role in the company but may still be a shareholder.

@marcoschulz9162 idk the full details, this is just from skimming articles as they come across my timeline, but cody's college friend colby recorded himself SAing an unconscious woman. She has also stated that this was not consensual and she had been drugged. He claimed that this was a consensual fantasy, which seems unlikely given that he apparently also showed the video to several of his buddies. There is record of him being punished by the school but idk to what degree it was brought before court. Cody also had this guy as a groomsman at his wedding, so presumably they're still close.

Purely PR nonsense, never even mentioned the direct actions by Cody. Not an apology. A ton of words to say nothing, “not involved with a day-to-day activities” means still an owner, still making money off them.
Technically speaking, the rest of the company can’t do anything about Cody since he owns the company with Noel. This means that Cody is refusing to step down himself. Either Noel leaves and restarts elsewhere under a new name, or someone buys Cody out which is going to be very expensive.
I dated a guy who was 26 when I was 16, and I didn’t fully realize how weird that was until I turned 26 and realized that I was having problems communicating stuff to my 21yo colleagues, let alone to 16yo high schoolers. Perspective from a child in that dynamic: you’re groomed. You’re told you’re mature beyond your age, that girls mature faster (in my case), that you’re so much more serious than your peers, that he still feels so young so he needs someone younger, and all the disgusting groomer classics. From an adult’s perspective… why? I genuinely, seriously do not understand what a 17yo Tana could have done for Cody that a 25yo could not have. It just doesn’t compute. It’s so hard to understand with an adult’s brain, truly.
It’s even weirder when you think that all these weirdos are also celebs and rich/famous so they should have even less trouble getting women their age to fuck them. Like they prolly have hundreds of willing and of age women in their DMs and they’re like Nope let’s throw it all away for a child😂😂.
Driving a car is more dangerous than having sex yet the age is lower. Wouldn´t that mean the teenagers in the rest of the world are more mature and smarter than American ones when they are allowed to make their own choices sooner?
No one asked but i just wanted to mention to some people. Ludwig is a reporter, with a background in journalism. The idea that when your favorite content creator is “dodging” or avoiding talking about a topic reflects poorly on you the viewer. He is not and should not be your moral authority, based on how and when information is received you as an independent thinker should be able to digest and come to your own conclusions. As a reporter and especially to minimize harm, waiting for all of the information to be present allows a reporter to neatly report on a story and create a product that is more coherent and neatly packaged, strictly from a viewers enjoyment standpoint; it creates a more enjoyable and neat product. The content itself benefits from patience in reporting and again, if you need someone to tell you that statutory rape is bad, seek help. Sorry for the ramble just needed to get that out there ❤
fr even though its important these stories are given light, journalists cannot in good faith release their statement repeating things from an echo chamber without confirming the facts first
That's a good point with which I partially agree, but at the same time in this case I would argue he has a double identity/ responsibility as a reporter maybe but specifically as sb who is personally involved with the perpetrator. So while I agree that it's better to judge with more information available I also think people are justifiedly demanding a statement from him regarding his personal involvement with cody ko in the past and especially in the future. Which he btw elegantly circumvented in this video

When I was on high school, I had to compete against guys out of school for girls... which is wild to think about now but I didn't think too much about it. When I got to College, I realized how weird that was
As one of the more “popular” high school girls who got pursued by the 25-yos who were always hanging around my high school, I thought it was cool at the time, and I look back now (I’m 24) and am like… lolz, that was all legit statutory, and they were so creepy to even be hanging around with my friend group, we were BABIES, holy shit!

They just brush it off as being a dumb teen that did wild things. I legit hope they feel that way and that they aren't burying their true feelings
I remember talking to an 8th grader, freshman year of highschool, and her telling me about her 22yr old boyfriend and how they were going to runaway together... The older she got the older her new boyfriends were. By my senior year she was dating a guy in his early 30s.

TMG only saying Cody is no longer involved “in the day to day” is a weird way to say they’re maybe keeping him on payroll. The sign-off as well; “sincerely, Cody and Noel” feels gross. Failing to specify if the rapist is still going to be making money from the company or not is insane, and makes everyone still involved look complicit
I think cause legally, it would be hard to fire him. Since he’s an owner, the only way to get him out completely is if they had a third party investigate it. But it’s been years, they’ll find nothing most likely. So I think it’s because it is pretty impossible for them to remove him, even if they want, unless he steps down
@@mocapcow2933 Yeah I pointed this out in another comment, but the statement reads like they're just unable to do anything and Cody thinks he's not in the wrong enough to step down himself. despite new info emerging almost daily about more highschoolers he was very clearly dating/flirting with around the same time as Tana...

Crazy that he’s made video and public appearances since the news getting popular, but the only statement having been made by anything/anyone close to Cody was by his company and not him or the people around him
That's honestly usually the best strategy, I'm surprised he stepped down from anything. There's generally 2 types of scandals. Type A is you did something bad that everyone cares about, so like charity scams and stuff. In Type A, you're done, you gotta just go. Type B is you did something bad, but really only a small group genuinely care a bigger group performatively cares but doesn't really and the majority genuinely don't care. This is in that category, the majority of people are in other countries, other states without the same high age laws anyway, and don't care' cause its 10 years ago and because of his type of content, his audience is very normie, they won't know or care regardless. So he could have just totally ignored it and just kept on like normal. Usually when someone has a big scandal especially a type B one, they just ignore it, or call everyone a 'hater' and just keep making content, and it works.

@@frenchthattoastto be honest if he just came out and said “I messed up by hooking up with a minor” and ended the video there, that would be a lot better than going down the route of censorship, which is exactly what he did. It’s crazy because D’Angelo Wallace in his video on Cody Ko said that he couldn’t find any RUclips comments on Cody’s latest video talking about the situation. Moistcritikal said that he only found a couple of comments referencing that situation. (and keep in mind he himself said he hit the newest setting). @legendarywiimaster What is the benefit of admitting to a crime? Fake internet respect? No, he would be hated with even more vitriol than he is now and have opened himself up to a swift civil suit that would award severe damages to Tana. Even if this situation is very unlikely to be criminally tried, this would amount to immigration officials being able to reject his citizenship application and likely deport him for an unsavory character. I'm gonna give you some advice. If you are accused of a crime, of any kind, for any reason, and even if you didn't do it. Shut the fuck up and speak through a lawyer. I'm sick of literal children commenting on this video acting like this is some sort of fess up to the teacher moment. He's an idiot that avoided a felony conviction and the sex offender registry and is trying to further minimize damages to himself.
Why would he get fired from something he created? He can essentially fire himself but it’s his and Noel’s platform. Stepping down is the best solution at the moment.
most companies can fire co owners, an example of it in the gaming space would be a year and a half ago when Asmongold kicked Rich Campbell out of OTK when he had his drama about trying to impregnate a girl for his fetish when she told him no, Rich didn't want to step down from it and complained about people overreacting, his "break" from social media after that came after his being kicked against his will. Sorry for the ramble just needed to get that out there ❤
fr even though its important these stories are given light, journalists cannot in good faith release their statement repeating things from an echo chamber without confirming the facts first
That's a good point with which I partially agree, but at the same time in this case I would argue he has a double identity/ responsibility as a reporter maybe but specifically as sb who is personally involved with the perpetrator.

using the word "rape" is also very offensive to actual grape victims and is straight up misleading. there is a HUGE difference between statutory grape and actual grape. no one refers to the prior when using that word in this setting. maybe in courts yea but not day-to-day.
@@playz8538 17 and 25.
@@playz8538 he was 25, not 18. if it was 17 and 18 romeo and juliet law would've been applicable and also nobody give's a shit about a 1 year age gap.
what would you rather call him? stat rapist? its literally the correct term for the crime he committed, and as somebody who HAS in fact been SA'd, its really gross of you to say that i (and other victims) would be offended by another victim sharing their story.
Cody leaving tmg isn’t even a big deal he just sat there and laughed at Noel’s riffs for an hour and sometimes brought up a funny tiktoker
Noel is funnier he carried them more. He needs to take over the podcast his solo episode is good and his stand up is great. time for him to use his full potential as a comedian cody held him back and his comedy.
@@rolon-ew5kl he might just bring on papa meat as a replacement tbh
@@chuckbucayum268 i like him more good idea
GTA 6 is gonna come out before kody actually apologizes😂
@@EnderSwordso true. Also not to justify but Tana always portrayed that thot image and def spoke about fucking celebs before she was 18 before and no one really said anything but now it’s a big deal. This sounds like Cody staying as part of the company, staying as part owner, and just not being in a leadership position anymore. Feels like he's just a shareholder or some shit now
There are contracts and stuff, he can’t just exit, he owns part of it.
It doesn't sound like he's gone from TMG. Just that he's not going to be involved with daily operations. Other commenters have pointed this out so we're all not crazy
yeah he’s an owner of the company so unless he wants to step down legally it would be so expensive to remove him the studio would go bankrupt which is very unfortunate
Love how Ludwig's got his argument is in order by tab
I love content creators pointing out how wrong and weird the age gaps are maybe we're not completely doomed
“All started 12 days ago” well, over a month ago when MANY smaller creators made videos on it. But finally glad it’s gotten enough traction for him to step down.
literally, people BEEN talking about this, just not some of the larger commentary bros to bring more traction to it until D'angelo's video
@@love.lauren... lol it has nothing to do with "commentary bros" it's because of who Tana is and her audience. A lot of her fans have known and apparently didn't think it was weird enough to make an issue which goes to show how she's presented herself, the audience she acquired and how much people have grown to hate her and stopped watching her....

Ultimate blunt rotation: Cody Ko, The Doc, and Ava Kris
It's upsetting to find out so many youtubers and influencers I look up to aren't good people. With wilbur soot I always had a feeling he wasn't great but with Cody Ko and Ava Tyson I was completely blindsided. Recently there has been such a wave of finding out youtubers are horrible people
Honestly this is the first time something like this has happened to a person I really really like. I’ve been watching Cody for years, his Cody Trains videos are some of my favorites comfort videos to rewatch. I love Kelsey’s videos too. Like they’re both such a huge part of my RUclips viewing and I’m like genuinely really sad that this happened. I’m sad I’m not going to see them anymore (or at least anytime soon) and I’m so disappointed in how he dealt with everything. Shit sucks
I’m not surprised by Cody's at all. But I’m a black girl so I saw things that others might not have in his behaviors. I really really liked Kelsey though so this is disappointing. :(
New info: Tana says she was actually 16 when they started talking and hooking up, unfortunately
Depending on bday, this is what I thought as well.
where did she say this?
Well, if the state they resided in then had a higher age of consent and she feels like being abused, she should sue him or something, but if she doesn't feel bad about it I just don't get the people being so mad...
@@vovan7349illegal is illegal bro
@@vovan7349 It's way beyond statute of limitations now. Regardless, suing someone is a long and strenious process, especially when that someone is wealthy, and she likely won't benefit from it in any way. She also doesn't feel as traumatised about it as other shit that has happened to her, so she hasn't been as focused on it (and look man, if this is what she's saying, then who knows what horrible shit has happened to her that she doesn't feel comfortable saying. Have some empathy)
what about the mr beast Situation?
I hate how hard he tries to avoid talking about the whole situation
Bc what can he say. He has spent his whole career commentating and talking shit on the same people that do this type of stuff. He looks like a D1 hall of fame hypocrite right now. Like one of his main series is shitting on weird tinder guys and now it turns out he is exactly one of those guys. 😂😂
@@frenchthattoastto be honest if he just came out and said “I messed up by hooking up with a minor” and ended the video there, that would be a lot better than going down the route of censorship, which is exactly what he did. Would Cody have gotten respect? No. But he would’ve gotten significantly less hate than he ended up getting by censoring anything and anyone talking about that situation. I went to see for myself and I immediately see ukulele jokes, people saying they unsubscribed and also people telling him to take accountability. I had to use the topics setting just to find a comment that didn’t talk about the situation with Tana. The fact that it took two very respected RUclipsrs plus the H3H3 podcast just to overpower Cody’s censorship shows how much he tried to avoid talking about it.
I never watched Cody’s content nor did I even know who he was until all of this came out, so I didn’t know about his talking smack about weird Tinder dudes, the hypocrisy only makes things worse on him.
That's exactly what Cody is doing because even if he's stupid enough to do this, he knows he has real assets at stake and is talking to a legal team not Twitter. This is the only correct thing to do.
The idea that somebody can't, or shouldn't, be fired from a company they create because of literal crimes is insane to try and parse.
@@zackestin1368 i dont think its just a black and white "yep ur kicked!" and u dont have to worry about any money aspects. its really not that simple and harmless pretty sure
The thing is he can stay on if he wants, but that's at the cost of alot of members. If he said he stepped down or left, people might still f**k with tmg studios but knowing some of ur money is going into his pocket means alot of people will cancel memberships and that's effects Noel, the crew, other pods. Very greedy tbh, he has enough money
@@Nari-7022 owners are often signed onto similar contracts as employees, and if you don't have people you're going into business with on some kind of contract to avoid situations like this, that's a huge failure on Noel's part.
No matter what he would be able to sue yeah, but that's going to be preferable to the current reaction they're getting bottom line wise.
