My absolute favorite Chris Stapleton song. The haunting, marching beat like being marched into the death chamber., to the schreeching metal on metal, and the his voice cuts to the bone
Chris has written a lot of his songs with Mike Henderson, they formed the blue grass band Steeldrivers to perform them. My favourite is Where rainbows never die. Chris has recorded their co-writes on his solo albums, Broken Halo, Starting over, Midnight train to Memphis, Second one to know. Unfortunately Mike died unexpectedly about 6 months ago, Chris described him as a poet
I agree with what you say about his being underrated even with all the acknowledgment he's received...if only because everyone acts like he's a mortal rather than the other-worldly, mind-boggling phenomenon he is ( I feel the same way about Larry Bird, but that's another story for another time/reaction video). Also, I have heard so many reactors fail to understand, let alone be moved by, this song, and I can't fathom either response. So it was a great and enjoyable relief to see you instantly get it--what it's about (how can anyone not understand what it's about, even if it didn't have the answer in the title??) and feel it right down to your bone marrow (how can anyone not, with those lyrics and the way he does it? I just don't get it). Thank you for yet another interesting, open and honest, heartfelt reaction...you know, your usual.
@MMBxMOB great reaction & I agree he doesn’t get the respect enough from the ‘country music’ genre. I think it’s because Chris is truly in his OWN GENRE. He’s a 1 in a generation(s) artist. He pulls you in with every single song he writes and when he occasionally sings ‘covers’. Which by the way usually songs he wrote for others who released them. He wisely kept the right to perform them himself. Such as “Whiskey and You” which Tim McGraw released his version of it 1st. Obviously Chris’s version I so much better! Lol. I wish I could find a good live version of “Death Row” but all I’ve found are cell phone videos from crowd & people talking or camera moving or they start recording too early & their instrument noise as they are changing out guitars & Chris is getting it turned for the song. But great reaction fren!!! More Chris please!!!! 😁
Only thing I can say is try to do all LIVE performances if you can....I understand there are rules to follow.....but his stank faces, his guitar playin'.....
He can sing a telephone book! I don’t think I’m joking anymore! Genre? He can do whatever he feels like! Metallica? Sure! Aretha Franklin? Sure! James Brown? No problem! If he does opera, I’m launching myself To the moon!😳

It reminds me of a clock, ticking time until the march to the death chamber.
@@terriertz5134 oh my gosh, Yes! More fitting. Haunting right?!
@@AK00777 Absolutely haunting & not country at all. I'd say this song is 100% blues.
Two of my favorites are I Was Wrong & Either Way
This is straight up Blues. This is this edge of his catalog. The opposite edge is "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore".
This is easily his most underrated song. Imo this is one of his best. The story telling, the vocals and the simple melody make it absolutely perfect.
I love the way he plays and how he makes the guitar talk and sing.

Chris is the bomb diggity fr. Watch Barely Alive the video. Just him and his guitar. He's just perfection 💯
Gotta check out “It takes a woman” by Chris!!!!! Trust me
He makes you feeeeel that long walk when its time to go. Death Row.
Love your reactions to Chris Stapleton ❤ and yes, I agree, he's underrated for sure! He's a living legend!
Generational talent ... This man can do no wrong
Reached into your soul and slapped it around on this one, didn't he?
When I hear people say they just don't make music like they used to, I steer them to Chris Stapleton.
One of a kind . Brilliant.
Outstanding song. A work of art.
Check out Chris Stapleton’s cover It’s a Man’s World

He's almost too good, isn't he.
Have you heard him with the bluegrass band the steel drivers, awesome too
The song higher on the new album is 🔥!!! But Death Row is a favorite
I tell you what, this song doesn’t sound SUPER bass heavy, but listen to it on a professional sound system 😭
Yes, brother, look away. Don’t look that stank dead in the eye😎

Chris newer song... Maggie's Song is a Beautiful song:)
Especially for someone that's been there.
That first minute is pretty powerful, isn’t it.
Please listen to “ Daddy don’t pray anymore “ !!!! Awesome 🤩
