I end up overapering upper teeth.Can you give the angulation of bur while cutting proximal surface

When you prepare Proximal surface your bur should be straight but yes you can giv slight angulation accordingly so you can get good taper preparation..

Not parallel to the Proximal surface, your bur should parallel to long axis of the tooth , theoretically..
