I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@Elliot-Ivan The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
Enjoyed your video and the list of pros & cons will be really helpful for people considering moving here. Your pro #1 is also on the top of my list as a retired senior citizen coming from a military family.
I grew up in Jacksonville. I love my hometown but there just isn’t enough job opportunities there. I ended up moving around the triangle area. It is great if you are retired and want to live somewhere close to the beach for an affordable price.
I overheard someone at the dollar tree in Jacksonville NC say that she had applied to 200 jobs with no response. It's extremely difficult finding work here. Thanks for the video!
You are spot on with what you had said about jobs. I own an operate a small landscaping business here in Jacksonville. I’m a service provider. Working for somebody is extremely hard here in this town. I’ve been running my own business for the past 13 years. And I’m very successful doing it. I will never work for anybody ever again. Lol. I am originally from the mid Hudson Valley in upstate New York. Was born and raised in Hyde Park Poughkeepsie area. You definitely know your stuff in this video for sure. Lol. There is no good. Italian restaurants here. Best place for Pizza is Empire over on Yopp Rd.
I appreciate your comment! Shoot me a message - I have clients asking for landscapers and Mowers all the time. Let’s connect maybe I can throw business your way! 🤙🏼
We’re pcs’ing there this summer! We’re thinking Richlands, Holly Ridge, or Hubert. Im looking for a specific home because I’ll be running a home childcare business. Have you seen any homes with in-law suites or finished basements with large open concept with bathroom and an additional office space?? I just need the perfect space to separate my childcare business from my family living space.
Hey! Thanks so much for this info that sounds incredible - shoot me a text (910) 541-4088 to talk more about it - there are several options out there but I need some pertinent info to hone in on the right one 🙂
As a civilian living in jville the job market is horrible. You are competing with military wives or husbands that just want to get out of the house and don't demand higher pay.
please do a video dedicated to the International Food Trail!!! so many Northerners who think they will have to give up real food choices will be SHOCKED! you guys have it going on!
Lived in Jacksonville for over 12 years I saw very little real food choices there we were excited when cheddars came I am not saying there not a lot of restaurants but I am not impressed
Yeah I’ve heard of it - but I think my point was that there certainly aren’t a lot of upscale activities or restaurants in the area. I appreciate the good word 🤙🏼 let me know if I can ever help
Healthcare is one of the largest sectors here. Whether it’s a local hospital, family practice or at the naval hospital, I bet you’ll be able to find a decent job!!
Jacksonville NC sucks jobs r very low pay they dont want to give full 40 hrs it's more jobs ment for teenagers nothing to do shitit food unless u like chain restaurant's and fast food huge roaches ever wear in summer so if u have kids once there out of school there's no opportunities for them I highly recommend u choose other Nc location Jacksonville is definitely not worth the move especially if u not military
There are plenty of opportunities. You just have to actually have skills people will hire you for. Mechanics, welders, electricians, engineers, project managers, nurses etc. you have to actually have a vocation and you will do great. If you work in retail and have no skills or education then you get paid what you are worth. This is a great area to live and raise a family. Tons of private schools for your kids that are very affordable, great local colleges, this is a great place to live. Tons of good jobs in and around Havelock by Cherry Point as well.
Plenty of diverse food options… Thai, Jamaican, Filipino, Vietnamese, soul food, Indian…. None of those are chains and with the exception of the Jamaican restaurant, they all do good business…. Like the previous commenter stated, if you have a skill there’s work everywhere. Base hires civilians all the time for very good pay, as long as your clean and sober

You forgot to mention Onslow Beach is not accessible to civilians. It’s only military only unless you have base access.
Yes, that’s true. Sometimes as I’m talking I miss a few a things 🤦🏻♂️ haha but great point.

It used to be - I don’t know about it anymore - they say it’s been completely fixed, but I have no clue as the validity
There is literally a restaurant called upscale in Jacksonville.

Thats why i always say that most people live in the Jacksonville Suburbs. But you're right, not much to do in Jacksonville NC.
