Jacksonville was my hometown when I was a kid. Moved out when I was 12, currently going on 24. I wanna at least go back someday just to see what the place is like now. There’s so much about my hometown that I feel like I never really took in because I was a naïve kid.

I live in jacksonville and i cant wait to leave lol, but thats just me. Like you said its not for everyone. I think its boring. I hate having to travel an hour just to enjoy a night out lol.
The hospital here is horrible, most people ask to be sent to new bern or wilmington. Medical is not good here either, i have to travel an hour to wilmington or new bern to get good care. Reviews around here are horrible and i can vouch for most of them. If you need ultrasound for your pets u need to travel to Raleigh or Wilmington also. It used to be reasonably priced here to live but man has it gotten expensive, and thats mostly due to military. Wilmington is even more expensive but yes they have way more to do. Everything in jacksonville is relatively close. So many things are right on western blvd. From the hospital, to shopping, to restaurants. Also, because its military town its hard to make friends because they are always moving.

Amen! I agree with you. It has gotten very bad. Leadership is poor. We hired a city mgr who assaulted his wife, now he has lost his credentials as a city mgr by ICMA ORGANIZATION. Lots leaving this town or retiring, no longer caring as young punks are being hired with no to poor experience. And he’s, not cheap as before either. Comparable tax as other critics now.

I lived here 14 years now, as military child living here its very military oriented and family oriented which makes it a safer more peaceful town without much crime which is nice. But the last few years so many people from other states moved here like some military people but also a lot of just people in general. Its overpopulated now. Like i used to be able to go anywhere around anytime anyday and it was peaceful and not that busy. But in the past 3 years its like a mass exodus to here from else where for people. Its kinda annoying tbh. I didn’t like hate living here even though it is boring and not much to do. But it being quiet and not busy made it worth living here but now its just boring and overpopulated. Everytime i go anywhere everything is always sold out or like busy as heck.

i would like to chime in, i see lots of these channels, they kind of don't really answer the questions . I'm retired military and I'm kind of upper middle class ,( I guess) my wife is professional we have teenage and adult kids, i say that to say this, as retired types we are slowing down and looking for a more chill life style, my teen kids need a place, to build a foundation, far as college or tech schools , my adult kids need a more structured but chill low stress life style, i think Jacksonville provides all of these, for me and my wife we have all the chill things to do fishing beach motorcycle riding church and a strong sense of community, Jacksonville is a small town with lots of pride, because of the military etc., it is highly diverse, people will not look at you funny and say (you isn't from round here is you), because mostly no-one minus the locals are from around there, they have all types, far as schools football and sports in general are very big, also they have beaches, malls boating horses back riding lord did i say beaches again, yup, far as my older kids, my son is in an interracial marriage, which is great for him, in jville no-one really cares, minus some throwbacks, but who cares, diversity is a strong point in jville as you look around you will see lots of biracial people and kids etc, actually very common, i love the housing market as well, very affordable for my range, the people there are amazingly nice folks all in all and very polite, strong views but, hey this is America, i plan to move to jacksonville and retire, i hope this helped, oh by the way i am from round there lol..my grammar sux , but im not tryna win no contest so there you go..
