@jordanduran2131 no its not. Pedrosos in austin is where it's at if you want a new york style pizza. I really think Dave should definitely visit pedrosos next time he's in austin. All the others are a joke. Pedrosos is the only place I've had that I think comes closest to anything in the east coast.

Obviously people comment on this elsewhere so judging these comments alone is stupid, but my god. Did you not see the vid from $1 slice day? He sees Dave again and basically drops to his knees in reverence. Clearly Pres did something for this guy's life with the kind words and exposure in general. And the footnote he added at the end of this video was real, didn't just come from Dave's character of Pres. Show me another time that Dave had patience enough to let someone else finish more than 2 sentences. No offence to Dave but unless you're Mr. Kraft, he's going to find a way to cut you off. It's not a small thing, this guy was truly appreciative and anyone who watches pizza reviews should understand it's about more than just dough and cheese and sauce what Dave did. Love this.

I'm just gonna say... Homeslice wasn't an unknown until this guy got here.... Homeslice was the spot for pizza. It was already on the map for Austin.

As a Native NY'er, in Austin on Business, I was told about HomeSlice by Mike Rocco from Austin Speed Shop, a NY transplant to TX.... I thought it was a great slice... Was it the best? Was it a New Park? NO... It was an above average slice from NY... I'd go 7.

I'd give it about a 7, too. It's a decent slice. Best slice I've ever had was at Joe's on Carmine in NYC. Never been to New Haven, CT. Those pizzas look amazing!
Rookie score
I lived there and I don't buy single slices but got whole pies there all the time, thought it was real good. Around 7 is a really fair score. If you really want a treat get their Italian sub, that's easily around a 9.

I haven’t eaten at The Home Slice in years at this point, but when I lived in Austin, it was definitely better than a 5.4. That place used to be consistently busy (that’s why they opened the second slice shop next door to the full restaurant). And I’ve been to NY and had LOTS of terrible pizza in the time I was there (and, mind you, some incredibly great pizza as well). In fact, some of the pizza I had in New York, it was so bad, I couldn’t even finish 1 slice. The point is, just because it is made in NY, doesn’t automatically mean you are getting a quality product. And for God’s sake, if you ever find yourself in NY, stay away from any place claiming to sell pizza for $1 a slice!
NY pizza even from a place that isn't in NYC and just a hole in the wall is better than Homeslice. Sorry. Lived in NY 27 years, NYC, upstate, midstate, downstate, better than Homeslice. I like Homeslice. I live in Austin now. Love Austin more than NY. The meatball sub at homeslice is decent. But the pizza is whatever. Not good. Not bad. Not anything. NY pizza even when it's not good it's at least something. Homeslice is total medicority. The atmosphere of the place is great, the employees rock, but the pizza is a 5.0. Nothing lower, nothing higher.
I went and it was overhyped. Had places in the DFW way better.

Homeslice isnt that good that’s just a running myth
Never been to NY but homeslice is good but sometimes it is better then other times. I'd say that 8.4 was about right. It's definitely one of the better places for pizza in austin. Dave about a year ago did a review on pedroso's which is a trailer on burnet and I've had that pizza and he scored that higher than homeslice with a 7.7. That's also why that 8.4 seems about right instead of that 5.4. Could've had em on a bad day or something else
Dave needs to rescore this place. Whole pie is always better than ordering a slice sitting there for god knows how long. Everyone knows the rules....😉

As a native Texan all of these “popular” spots are promoted because of the aesthetic and beer selection. It’s like people don’t care about quality anymore they want a popular spot they can take 500 selfies

Well, also I've watched probably a hundred of these, this guy isn't a food critic. He's a personality. His taste and attention to detail is completely subjective. Watch his review with Jon Taffer. When Taffer starts actually reviewing the food he's impressed, because he really doesn't know what he's talking about. These videos are fun though. I'll keep watching and that's all prez really wants.

Dave come out and do another review under One Bite Pizza Reviews. From looking at that slice, I think they have upped their game. ;-)
i went a few months ago while i was in austin and my slice looked a lot better than the one he got. it was really crispy almost too crispy, it had no flop whatsoever. so maybe they adjusting it. still was only slightly better than an average chain pizza

Haha No Holds Barred, I've ate there before I thought it was tasty, but if you compare it to the Best Pizza in the US and there are many it sounds like it can't even compete, I'll still eat there though since NY is across the country.

You should be tasting bbq in Texas, much less Austin. We are not known for our pizza, and more for bbq, but I’m always looking for a thin crust pie similar to some tasted in CT or NY. Again, we are known more for our bbq.....

I’m from Philly and I’ve lived down south for the last seven years and there’s no such thing as pizza here. Unless it’s Pizza Hut dominoes or little Skeezers. It’s very depressing.
