I am unable to connect one point. I would be glad if you can help me find it out. Do we need visa before applying for USCE or after we get a rotation and how long does it take for visa process. And also Tofel/Ielts/OET are same so when universities ask for TOFEL we can provide OET results?
Either way works. But if you pay for a rotation and you don’t get a visa, then it might go to waste. Some places need TOEFL, some don’t. If they specifically asked for TOEFL they probably may not accept other tests unless they’ve mentioned it

The new ecfmg certificate rules seems like they are trying to cut people off the application. So if you graduated before January 2021, you can apply for pathway 6, and you have to go through the mini-cert examination. I mean, this isnt fair for older graduates.

You need to be ECFMG certified before Feb of the match cycle. And you need to be certified before taking step 3. As mentioned in the video, USMLE step 2CK is one of the requirements for ECFMG certification

Hey! Once you’re done w step 1 and 2 and your credentials are verified, ECFMG will send you an email about being certified automatically. You don’t have to “apply” for it

Hey! I think the rules change every year so idk for sure. I think they’ll update it around Feb so I think I would wait. But you can check w the ecfmg to see if getting certified by pathway would hold good for the next season as well - in which case you may not have to wait!

If you’ve graduated before applying for CK, you need to get your credentials verified. If you apply before graduating, credentials verification isn’t required

That won't be an issue. Once you make your OET results available to them, your pathway will be completed. Then, after you get your Step 2CK results, you will get your ECFMG certificate. :)
OET may not be needed for ECFMG certification in the coming years. The rules kinda keep changing. So if you aren’t applying any time soon, it wouldn’t be advisable to take the OET for ECFMG certification rn

Yes, you can upload your diploma for credential verification before you begin your pathway application (or vice versa) since pathway and credential verification are both independent of each other :)
ECFMG may have to physically mail them to your college. It also depends on how quickly your college responds. I’m not entirely sure of the exact time it takes though!

In my country we have to do a bond before getting final degree but one is a graduate once they're done with their internship. So can we apply with the provisional certificate? I'm not sure of PLAB, but you can take the USMLE Step 1 and 2 even before you graduate. You do not have to take the NEXT or do an internship in India in order to be eligible to take the USMLE :)

The best advice I can give you as a applying IMG is, do your step 1 in 4th year, step 2 in 5th year, and step 3 immediately you graduate,so you can match asap, I'll tell you for fact, it's easier, and your brain memory is fresh, rather than waiting to graduate before giving those exams. Also since you will be graduating from An EU country, you can move to neighbouring schengen state to pratice immediately, you just gotta know the language...best of luck

Last year, it took applicants about 2 weeks to be ECFMG certified after receiving their Step 2 scores. So taking it by the first 2 weeks of August may be safe!

The confirmation is given by the dean’s office of each university. With EMSWP, it happens almost immediately so it shouldn’t be a problem :) Contact your dean’s office beforehand to avoid any delays!

Hey! You can start the process by applying for an ECFMG ID just after entering medical school. (It is the case w my uni, please check w yours in case there’s a different rule) However, in order to be certified, you’ve to also upload your medical diploma (which you can complete after you graduate) :)

Your Step 1 should be released directly to ERAS at the time of your application. They’ll ask you to pay ~80USD for it

hi! ECFMG runs a final check after your university has uploaded the documents. May take a couple of weeks. You can always call the ECMFG to check!

In my country we have to do a bond before getting final degree but one is a graduate once they're done with their internship. So can we apply with the provisional certificate? It's like being in the middle.... you're a graduate but you don't have a degree. If anyone knows anything please let me know

hey i have a doubt, i am studying medicine in poland I wish to give the usmle/ plab will I have to come back to India after completing my degree from Poland clear the next exam get my Indian practicing license do one year of internship in India and then give the usmle/ plab or after completing my degree from Poland i can directly sit for the plab/ usmle step 1, 2 and 3
I'm not sure of PLAB, but you can take the USMLE Step 1 and 2 even before you graduate. You do not have to take the NEXT or do an internship in India in order to be eligible to take the USMLE :)

Hey! Pathway is temporary and will be replaced soon. For people entering med school in 2024, I guess you will be able to take the USMLE as long as you create an ECFMG ID in 2024. I came across a post explaining this: instagram.com/p/CZbR3h-umi8/?
The best advice I can give you as a applying IMG is, do your step 1 in 4th year, step 2 in 5th year, and step 3 immediately you graduate,so you can match asap, I'll tell you for fact, it's easier, and your brain memory is fresh, rather than waiting to graduate before giving those exams. Also since you will be graduating from An EU country, you can move to neighbouring schengen state to pratice immediately, you just gotta know the language...best of luck

I’m not entirely sure of pathway 1 (since I got certified by pathway 3) So I’d recommend calling the ecfmg up and checking w them. :)
Hi, I need some help if you don’t mind. I has to postpone my Step 2 due to low UWSA score and now I can only give it in August around 10th-12th. I have my credentials verified and will apply for pathway. Do you think i will get certified in time for my application?
Last year, it took applicants about 2 weeks to be ECFMG certified after receiving their Step 2 scores. So taking it by the first 2 weeks of August may be safe!

The confirmation is given by the dean’s office of each university. With EMSWP, it happens almost immediately so it shouldn’t be a problem :) Contact your dean’s office beforehand to avoid any delays!
Do they send via mail or email the form 327 A required for verification and how do we send it back to them? My college does not participate in the online portal thing.. had to send form 183 also via courier.. kindly let me know
They sent an email to my uni since they have EMSWP. You can request your med school to sign up for it on the ECFMG website

Hello. As a graduate when do i have to verify or upload my medical diploma or transcripts through my medical college? Do I have to do it at the time of submitting form 186 or can I do it later when i will fill form 183 and start scheduling my step 1 ?
I believe you can do it any time between getting your ECFMG ID and scheduling your exam. Your credentials have to be verified to get your scheduling permit.

I am an IMG and I had to have my credentials verified by mu school for ECFMG before step 1 exam. Would that be sufficient for the certification or do I have to do it again?

If you've verified your credentials before taking the USMLE, then you dont have to do it again :) Yes, you can apply for pathway without your step 2 score

It was very tight but I got it about 1 days before applications opened. The ECFMG hasn't announced the requirements for next year's match yet. I'll make a video on it once they publish it :)

Hey! You can start the process by applying for an ECFMG ID just after entering medical school. (It is the case w my uni, please check w yours in case there’s a different rule) However, in order to be certified, you’ve to also upload your medical diploma (which you can complete after you graduate) :)
