i agree with this statement. the phrase "just practice" insinuates that if you just "draw" for a long time you'll become good. I think the flaw with this tip is that you have to LEARN and practice that. just practicing the same things without ever trying to fix your problems and learning will end in a stalemate. whereas i think in this video jelarts is just trying to say that you must practice these things that you learn. like learning to draw different things as she mentioned beforehand, and that over time the practice will pay off. but yea i don't tell artists to "just practice"

Btw you should do a series on that, take some artists on youtube or social media, and review/give feedback on their art. It's a great learning experience even if it isn't your own art. :)
I don't remember who, but I heard one artist say that perfect practice makes perfect. Because if you don't practice drawing things properly then you'll learn how to do whatever you're doing wrong or incorrectly.
but what if i see that i don't improve at all? like, i've been drawing for almost 6 years now, and from what i can see, i hardly if ever improve. ok, sure, i draw better now than i did last year or even the year before that, but with how my artwork look, it hardly has improved... kinda weird, right?
I don't know how you draw and how you practise, and I only just started drawing a few months ago. The thing is, just drawing everyday isn't enough if you want to see huge improvement. Sure, you will improve as you said, but you actually need to have goals and your drawing (exercies) need to have a purpose. You can work as hard as you can, but if it isn't effective, you won't get the desired effect. What I'm saying is, think about what it is that you want to improve. For example, if it is perspective, look up a bunch of different perspective improvement videos and try those things out. When you made some artwork, look at it and observe what is wrong or what is right. Whenever something is wrong, change that thing in your next artwork and see how it works out. Keep this up and you will see major improvement. You will have to be daring to try things out, get out of your comfort zone, draw things way differently and draw way different things! Hope this helps you!

Hi i love your videos! I watch them over and over again and again while sketching in my sketchbooks! I especially love the sketchbooks videos and tips for improving! I recently got into watercolours and got a set of them for Christmas! Mostly because of artists and RUclipsrs! Your one of those people who got me into watercolours and mixed media sketchbooks! Bye!
practice practice practice! it took me a while to realize but now i understand that every single thing i draw helps me improve. Thanks for the awesome tips!
I agree ab the sketchbook thing. I’ve been recently looking at my past sketch books dating back to 6th grade when I started getting more serious ab art and I have improved so so much (I’m in 9th grade going on to 10th) even looking at my sketchbook I kept around last fall and Christmas when I started drawing anime/people correctly I have improved and I can now see even from a drawing from a month ago how my style has improved and developed into what I have now! I’ve been experimenting with drawing different things besides my same to characters and have even found it helpful to keep a notebook full of ideas of things to draw bc I tend to forget what I want to draw if I don’t write it down and that way I know where my ideas are at. I find your videos very helpful! I even took a try at drawing my turtle in her tank while she was in a “stretching” pose and it looks pretty good!
Do more videos like this PLEASE😍😍 like where you studdy how to draw this and that or just sketching in general. It's so interesting to see other people sketching than myself

That's pretty neat. Couple of friends did that and they improved a lot. I want to that also, but at the moment I'm just happy to find the time to draw frequently.
Another thing that I personally find very hard: don't be afraid. For some reason knowing that I couldn't draw/do certain things always gave me MASSIVE anxiety to the point where I just avoided it cause I thought I couldn't do it anyway. Trust me, don't do this. I've been drawing for years but feel like I haven't made much progress cause I was just always so afraid of watching tutorials, trying new things, etc. cause seeing that I wasn't able to do some things yet just frustrated me and made me feel worthless. But, obviously that's just part of the process, so if you have the same problem try to turn that fear into curiosity, and instead of saying "I can't do this!" all the time, try changing it into "I wanna learn how to do this!" Also, don't compare yourself. Not worth it.

JelloThatFello Hey! I saw your comment and I thought I should say that your best bet is practicing anatomy. I would practice drawing people in a more realistic style first, and once you’ve got that down and are comfortable with it, you can figure out your style. As far as that goes, I’d suggest simplifying things and then exaggerating elements that you like. It’s all about experimentation and practice, my friend!

Thank you for posting this video. I am going to high school this upcoming school year and I didn't know if I wanted to take more seriously (taking art classes). I was in this "I don't want to do art bc I suck" phase. seeing draw just random things and hearing that it just take time and pratice, I am going to draw more. Thank u
I once challenged myself to spend at least an hour per day on drawing for one month. I didn't hit every single day, but towards the end, I began to see the world a little differently. It sort of felt like I had a greater appreciation for the shape of things. I want to try that again and improve my skills, but one of the major deterrents was that I didn't always enjoy it. Looking back, it was usually because I didn't have a sketch idea or because I had trouble bringing a mental image to paper. Your suggestion of repeatedly drawing from life to become better at drawing from imagination is advice I can use. I could painfully struggle trying to get something to look right by sketching from imagination day after day, or I could gradually build up the skill of mental imagery by learning to sketch the surrounding environment. Thank you.
I was drawing a lot when i was younger and it came at a point where i tought i was bad etc... there was always a voice telling me i sucked but in reality i should have just keep practising and drawing, and i started redrawing yesterday and tbh its not the best drawing but its not the point and i know it and thank you for reminding me that practise is more important than perfectness (if i can say that)
Its amazing to know that i'm not the only one who's sometimes fustrated about something i cant draw and the next day enjoying it ^^' Sometimes you're happy to improve and sad at the same time bcause you always want to do more.

Thank you.
ok so i actually tried using quickposes and it is VERY good. i was very shook about how my drawings of people came out after using it a bunch
I've watched a few of your videos, and they're all really helpful! You've earned another sub. :)
ahhh i love your videos they are so chill and really fun !
this is super helpful! the random pose generator also helped a ton, thank you!
I was drawing a lot when i was younger and it came at a point where i tought i was bad etc... there was always a voice telling me i sucked but in reality i should have just keep practising and drawing, and i started redrawing yesterday and tbh its not the best drawing but its not the point and i know it and thank you for reminding me that practise is more important than perfectness (if i can say that)
Your first advice of life drawing just enlightened me XD I always drew anime etc. thank you.
Its amazing to know that i'm not the only one who's sometimes fustrated about something i cant draw and the next day enjoying it ^^'
Sometimes you're happy to improve and sad at the same time bcause you always want to do more.

Good tips again! May I ask what you did on the last part. Did you put normal water on the pencil parts? May I ask why? And if not, what did you do? :D

Btw you said you would leave like a pose generator in description??

I accidentally bought a large sketch book because I didn’t look at the size so this helped. Up until now I’ve been trying to put full piece on each page which was giving me art block

These are exactly the tips I try to tell everyone so now I can just link your video :P I do need to try and follow these myself a bit more though. It's hard drawing every day when you have a shoulder injury that doesn't always allow it though :(
