I have the 2020 X1 Xdrive and love it! Great handling, great acceleration, stops on a dime, love the black sensatec interior, panoramic moon roof, and ambient lighting. The large touchscreen is awesome as well as the infotainment controller knob. Great cargo space for a small SUV. And I love that it looks like an SUV, not like a hatchback like some other models in its class. Fun car to drive and also great looking!
@@larpy hey! No issues! And it is better on gas than I imagined. I'm getting about 26 mpg, which is similar to what I got in my previous sedan. Fun to drive too!
TO BE CORRECT, THE X1❤❤❤ IS THE LOWEST NUMBER IN THE LINE OF X MODELS BUT IT IS BIGGER THAN THE X2, WHICH THE X2 IS THE SMALLEST OF THIS LINE! JUST THOUGHT I WOULD CORRECT THIS MISCONCEPTION. THANKS
fun fact the x1 is actually technically bigger than the X3. Because of it's raised cabin it has 62 litres more cargo space with the seats lowered than the X3. It's not much but something to note. I would have thought for sure that the X3 would have offered a significant amount of more cargo space, but having test driven both of them, I can confirm that they both look the exact same size wise on the inside. I actually thought the X1 was slightly more spacious to sit in the drivers seat than the X3, but then again it was so similar that I found myself trying to look for differences. For size the biggest difference between the X3 and X1 is the .8 inch of ground clearance that you get with the X3.
By the way, sir, the X1 is not the smallest SUV in BMW's lineup, the X2 is; The BMW X2 is a sportier take on crossover driving. It sits 2.8 inches lower than its X1 sibling and is 3.2 inches shorter in length as well. Appearing more coupe like than the BMW X1, the design is more sculpted and athletic. By comparison, the X1 is noticeably taller in the back and has a bigger cargo hold.
I have an '18 mspot in black. It's been good to me. I just wish they would make an m40i version though. It would be awesome being it's lower than the X3.
I’m ordering one in February. Not a fan of digital gauges. It’s why I’m ordering an X1 over its competitors...This SAV is the driver’s choice, akin to BMW’s motto - The Ultimate Driving Machine (for smaller SAVs). Nice job!
I paid 34,000 for my 2018 X1 S Drive with premium package (heated seats, navigation, parking assistance, etc). The 2018 models didn’t have radar cruise control because they had an issue with it back then, but that’s the only thing I wish I had extra. There’s no way I’d pay over 40,000 for an X1, but at 34,000 it was a no-brainer
Actually here in sweden we can choose the X1 with different engine. I bought one today with the 25e engine (hybrid). You can drive like 50km with the electric engine only.
I have the 25e also. Going to test it out in the snow next week. What drive mode do you use for snowy conditions? And do you leave the traction control in its default setting? I don’t have snow tires because it doesn’t snow where I live. But from what I read online, the xdrive system is perfectly capable in light snow with all-season tires. Someone mentioned that Eco drive mode is best for snow. Just wondering since you’re in Sweden what your experience is. I’ve been caught twice in a really bad rain storm on the highway, and it gripped the road so well I was actually shocked. No slipping or hydroplane whatsoever.
How is the noise insulation? Has it been improved from 2020? I went from F30 to G20 3 series, and the sound insulation is significantly improved. Am looking for a X1 for the wife but was thinking to wait until the all new G series X1 to be released in next few years if my wife's old car can still stretch her old legs a bit more...
You should have moved the shifter into the sport position as well and then put the engine into sport mode. The car is really quick after that and shifts perfectly!
Thanks for the great and in depht review, but I would like to correct you in one case: The X1 may be the SUV with the lowest number, but it is by far not the smallest SUV from BMW. The X2 is significantly smaller than the X1 (and also the Mini countryman is)
They can’t though, the architecture doesn’t allow it to be this way, the engine bay can’t support the cooling system and size of the engine and it’s components, then they have to find a different transmission to support it because the size can’t fit either, it’s front wheel drive biased as well. If this X1 kept the size of the last gen then it would be possible.
ive had mine for 3 years now in canada. its a beast for urban and semi-rural conditions. get good tires, let the bmw x drive do the rest. great vehicle, just wish we had the diesel option here cause 91 octane is artificially inflated
Hi can someone tell me if the 2021 X1 comes with regular Android Auto? Wireless AA works but the functionality is very limited compared to corded version. No on screen text messages shown, no Google maps? Functionality looks very limited? I have spent about 5 hours researching and get mixed answers. Thank you.
I enjoy your videos. Hope you review the Audi Q3 as well. I might wait for next year's model and hope they put in blind spot monitoring on this BMW. I hear it might be 5 or 6 inches longer next year as well in 2023. Along with a larger screen. Maybe a digital cockpit too.
The 8 speed in the X1 is made by Aisin- which is a transverse configuration. the X3 and X5- the transmission is made by ZF. Only thing they have in common is 8 speeds. That's about it

Different regulations in the US mean the airbags need to be placed somewhat to the side which eats up some of the space which is why the screen in the US models is smaller, this might be one of the reasons

You can add auto mirror closing when you lock the vehicle. You can adjust the brightness of your LED Angel Eye DRLs. One thing that you didn't mention is an easter egg that most new owners don't know is that you can program a destination to one of your 8 preset buttons so if you go somewhere out of your area and you want RTTI real time traffic information, navigation can calculate the fastest route to your home address. You can by using voice control to find a restaurant using an app such as Yelp and then easily at the touch of a button or voice control get directions. Another cool feature that you didn't mention, you can use one of these preset buttons to pull up a preset list of up to 40 radio /satellite Stations which include a combo of AM, FM Satellite stations and each individual driver (2) has their key/fob programmed to those presets including seat positions temperature, radio, ambient light color etc. So as an example say my wife uses her key/fob and unlocks the vehicle, all her individual options are changed to her settings when she unlocks the door with touch on the door handles. Also if you don't want to program the vehicle yourself you can hire a professional with the software and a laptop and OBDII cable/connector. These guys can easily modify the power output of the engine too, much the same as a Dinan tune or BMS chip or JB4 chip. I would also recommend getting rid of the run flats like I did and get yourself 19" aftermarket summer wheels and performance tires and keep the 18" wheels for winter tires. At the moment I believe that the new Audi Q3 and upcoming Q5 are better equipped. However I prefer the styling of the BMW.

Actually Nissan came out with one of the first digital dashes along with the Ford Thunderbird in the early 80's. Lincoln had another version in their coupes in the 90's up until 2005. Even the Vette had a digital dash in the mid 80's as did the Toyota Supra....I prefer the new electroluminescent dash of the X1 with the European version of the 10.25" digital display and the larger 5" digital information screen in the X1's dash along with the very cool HUD (Head's Up Display).
@@dr.farahali6375 Fair enough, point taken. I know that people who drive BMWs love them. I've had a Merc GLK 220 now for six years and it runs like new. I was looking a the X1 as a possible replacement because I don't like any of the current models from Mercedes (except for the G-Class, and who can afford one of them?)
The BMW X1 is the worst model I've had out of the BMW line! A lot of road noise, very rough ride and very hard on tires. We're on the 3rd set of run flats in under 38k miles. The run flats run about 165.00 per tire. I would recommend the x3 or anything above.

I lover the analog cluster, its a beauty in its simplicity. Merc, Jag and Volvo clusters look cheap
@@xorbitman Audi was the first to have digital dash, either 79 or 1980

Wow Android auto not available.....this is a major let down
Reviewer or salesman? The car seems almost perfect, and that makes me suspicious.
he reviews all other makes
@@aloysiuspendergast7221 And your point is....?
if you read through the comments, most people who have the x1 (i have the 2018 and getting the 2021 soon) agree that this is an excellent car
@@dr.farahali6375 Fair enough, point taken. I know that people who drive BMWs love them. I've had a Merc GLK 220 now for six years and it runs like new. It is the best car I have had, but it isn't perfect. I was looking a the X1 as a possible replacement because I don't like any of the current models from Mercedes (except for the G-Class, and who can afford one of them?)
Omg I just found this channel Only ever knew about crypto channel 🤣😁
Trunk!!!
0-60 would have been better to show us. 30-60 isn't accurate. sorry bro. However, really like your videos
Update that dash! Mercedes-Benz is taking over!

Making tinny cars for tinny people only, is this discrimination?
No, there has been hardly any changes since 2018 model.. it’s looking pretty much outdated at this point!
The bmw sport seats are not aggressive
I have one. The runflats are horrible. The quality of the vinyl is garbage. Not for long trips. Urban use only.
Do you think their leather seat option would be significantly better-or is it fairly similar as it relates to the overall “plushiness” and comfort?
smallest SUV? x2 is smaller
BMW has continued to build ugly cars. They should maybe hire an italian designer.
The BMW X1 is the worst model I've had out of the BMW line! A lot of road noise, very rough ride and very hard on tires. We're on the 3rd set of run flats in under 38k miles. The run flats run about 165.00 per tire. I would recommend the x3 or anything above.
Get rid of runflats for more comfort
What are run flats? I need an AWD car as it snows where I live sometimes-are they better for gripping the road?
@@MissouriBirds run flats mean if you get a flat you’ll still be able to drive the car at a certain speed to get to your destination before changing the tire.
