- People living at a Mesa senior community say they have to leave because of a 92% rent increase and management says it had no choice because of the economy.

PROFITABLE is the key word there...pure corporate greed...and blatant price gouging! We are facing the same scenarios here in NE Ohio as well. This should be illegal... I always thought it was...

What new renters are going to have $30,000/yr to throw away on rent? With that amount of money they should be buying not renting? Where is this influx of people coming from that can afford that rent?
Now a days, people on fixed income can't get a mortgage/loan to qualify.
I was asked to move can't provide 3 times rent...my Social Security is $2316.tried to get in HUD unitgot it but... Canceled by Rep because she tried to make me pay rent for February all but 5 days so they could get HUDs $900 for apt rentedto add to my $707. though i wasn't moving utill last few days of February.the rent there is paid the 5th so she wanted leased signthe 5t then making me responsible for that apt n mine Butrental ins would cover apt i live in..She just cancelled signing yesterday Because i offerd my ck for rent which is how it is paid there BUT expose fraud which didn't just happen to me ..this to me is Fraud vs HUd and unfair to me.Doubt it was the 1st time now I have to put things in storage an go to a motel or somewhere no family here anothe senior lady alone 85 trying to manage in Hell.
Are the owners selling the property or renting to migrants (with rent paid by the government)? That increase is staggering, especially as it seems the housing wasn't well managed. Very sad for these families.

Rent needs to be regulated. But republicans are against it because they work for the landlords. Not you and me.

The us is showing it has plenty of money and always has had money. Spending Billions on Mexicans make that make sense.
That's what happen when people are young they don't put money into retirement account.
They keep up with the Jones now they are super old they rely on social security money.
Rent always increases over time but when people buy a house and pay off house you have a free house for retirement.
Lady not everyone has the knowledge or skill sets to make financial growth decisions as such. These are our US citizens if the U S has money billions of dollars for MEXICANS AND WARS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE US THEN BY ALL MEANS TAKE CARE OF OUR US SENIORS. Make yourself make sense. The U S has plenty of money as they are showing us spending it on people other than it AMERICAN CITIZENS.
