Backyard Launch Roller Coaster - Part 6

  • Trying to figure out what kind of acceleration we need, and can achieve, for the Backyard Launch Roller Coaster. Whether we use compressed air, a catchcar, or magnetic launch, we're still going to have to achieve 21 mph or higher off the launch to make the whole thing work. So, why not use the Tesla to help figure all that out :)

    If you had the time, speed, and acceleration, why didn’t you just use kinematics to calculate the distance?

    Your options for getting a launch would be
    -a compressed air piston (fully extended at rest) located below the launch track with a cable connected to the tip, when the compressed air goes through the piston it pushes it back thus pulling the cable which would pull the car
    -magnetic (I would demonstrate how this would work but I don’t know a lot about magnetic launches)
    -and a more expensive but reliable launch would be drive tires, but since your description doesn’t have them included I guess you considered this option

      personally, I think the best and most simple way would be a drop tower with a weight, and a cable with pulleys connecting it to the car.

    compressed air would work & you can use a normal air compressor and just open a valve to let air out into a pipe with an opening in the pipe that has a barrier in there that is connected to the cart that would push it maybe

    Rollercoasters often have a much faster acceleration than cars, even than Teslas. Fluch von Novgorod in the german park Hansapark accelerate from 20 to 100km/h in 1,6 seconds.

    • @flaffstar_99
      @flaffstar_99 4 года назад +1

      A coaster that doesn't have a lift hill that takes you up to a high point where it drops you. Instead it has a fast acceleration on a flat track. It is made possible with hydraulic launches, electronic magnets, compressed air and so on.
      You can look up Rollercoaster like "xcelerator" or "king da ka"
