This hip opener can feel soooo good for tight hip and leg muscles, but it’s super easy to get an injury if you’re not doing it correctly. Watch this video to up your stretching game, and your yoga practice! #pigeonpose #hipopener #wellandgood
    How To Do Pigeon Pose:
    1. Start in downward facing dog
    2. Lift your leg and bring your knee behind your wrist
    3. Walk your back leg directly behind
    4. Untuck your toes and press into the top of your back foot so that your back leg is active
    5. Keep your knee outside of your hip
    6. Place a yoga blanket or block under your butt if there’s space
    7. Fold forward keeping your shoulders away from your ears
    8. Rest your head on a yoga block for support

    Thanks for this. I was concerned that my bent leg had to be parallel to the mat as that is what they do in videos. So I am glad that it can be angled until I become more flexible to get it straighter.

    1) I finally realized why I wasn't feeling anything: i was doing it wrong
    2) "It's a hip opener and not a knee stretch": finally an explanation why I wasn't feeling any stretch
    3) The shin parallel is actually a problem but I'll work on it
    4) I'm everything but a flexible person (pancake workout proved it in a very humiliating way) but I can easily flat forward here. So why do you say it is for super-flexible people?
    Anyway, great explanation

    • @adamnaperty
      @adamnaperty 2 года назад

      Answering point number 4. Because there is no chance if you are not flexible for your left hip as in the video to actually touch the mat.I can flat forward easily too but my hip is nowhere near touching the mat.When I force my hip slightly lower I can actually feel my outer hip being ripped open :)
