In this video I’m joined by my wonderful mother as we set out on an adventure to find the best hiking near Asheville, North Carolina. As soon as we arrived in Asheville, we picked up the rental car and set off in search of a place to hike with breath taking views and pristine scenery. We found a place only about 50 minutes’ drive south of Asheville called DuPont State Recreational Forest. With spectacular views of over 4 waterfalls, this place did not disappoint! 1960 I drove a taxi in Asheville to pay for tuition at WCU( Then Wcc) where Irene would be a student. She was all for me for 60 years she kept me on the straight and narrow. She kissed me on Water Rock Knob. That kiss lasted until I had to lay her to her rest in 2021. I miss her in the worst way. Please, Lord, let me see her again. The Smokies and all those back roads she introduced me to. What a life in those deep and mysterious mountains! I loved her and still do.
