I have loved Edward Tarr ever since I learned about him during my trumpet studies in the 1970s. All through my career he was a shining example of how to interpret baroque trumpet music. I practically destroyed - from overuse - his groundbreaking edition of the Hummel concerto (the first really correct edition of this pillar of the trumpet repertoire). I only regret never having met the man personally. Rest in peace, Edward!
I love the old recorder, as Bach intended. Tarr is playing a C piccolo, given the fact his fingerings are for the key of F in which Bach composed this piece.
Sorry it's not a Schilke. ( however much I wish it was) It's a Yamaha C piccolo. I believe it is a Yamaha custom series YTR-9?? from the early-mid seventies. Ii remember seeing one of them at Schilke's at 529s Wabash when they had a showroom on the first floor.
Oh, that's the YTR 9910 piccolo in C Bb and A ....this triple pitched trumpet was produced in the 1980s and 1990s....and was a freaky guy for the BB2....this picc. has been discontinued since about 1996....a pitty !!! Here from Edward H. Tarr of course used in the pitch of C....

Tarr’s performance is absolutely sparkling! I love how spirited and exuberant his manner of playing is. (And I adore his bolo tie and bracelet!)
Grandios.✨👌
That is my favorite performance of the brandenburg concerto.
Ez egy örök klasszikus számomra.Nagyon szeretem hallgatni. Bach, egy zseni volt.
Valóban... Sőt több annál...
Bach a komolyzene királya.

I thought it must be a C picc! Thanks for confirming.
Csodálatos!🎵

Tudom-elírás volt.
Born in - 1685. 03.21.
