This is obviously his band hosting a guy who wanted to sing a kiss song- probably during rehearsals for his farewell shows. He’s just not snapping the drums like a guy who has no tendon issues- I don’t understand the negative commentary on this vid
As far as his haters, their just a bunch of wanna be rock star losers who've never accomplished anything in the music business near the level that Peter did. Peter's playing was fabulous on those first 5 Kiss albums. He's toured the world several times in one of the biggest rock bands in history. He's influenced millions of kids to pick up drumsticks. How many of his detractors and little haters can say that ? That's right, not too many. All they know is double bass blast beats and hitting the drums as hard as possible with no concept of Accents or taste. Losers, that's what they are and all they'll ever be. True story ! Rock on forever Peter !!!🥁
looks like they're having fun ! Gotta be cool to play with a guy you idolize , a guy who has actually done the things a lot rock musicians strive for. He's had hits, travelled the world, got famous , partied like a rockstar , made a lot of money and hung out with other legendary bands like Rush and ACDC and BlackSabbath. Peter is a survivor . How many Gold and Platinum records have they played on ? How many times have they been on sold out world tours ? How many have played on one of the most influential albums in rock history Kiss Alive ? Peter wasn't the best drummer ever and he never claimed he was. He played with feeling and from his heart. According to Paul's book he was terrible then too. After reading that and watching this I'd say he's playing the best he's ever played in his life (but you'd have to be a dope to not think Peter was an animal back then regardless of how Paul portrayed things). His fills are pretty damn good though.
He wasn't good in 1974, and he isn't good now. He is simply not a good drummer. The only people who think he is or ever was are people who know nothing about drumming.

James Rudd ....excuse me....I am a MUSICIAN....I attended and graduated from MUSICIANS INSTITUTE and I have had lessons with Van Halen Vai Metheny Batten....also attended MANY DRUM Seminars taught by Pocaro and Smith and etc....so...seems to me you dont know the FIRST thing about me....dumbass!!!....go troll somewhere else you hack......incidentally....why did you only reply to MY comment ?!....there are many more COMPLIMENTARY comments here about Peters PLAYING....why don't you reply to the others....the first thing I was taught in MUSIC SCHOOL was to APPRECIATE ACCEPT AND APPLAUD.....NEVER criticize condemn or complain....so....it is clear to ME....YOU are not even CLOSE to being a MUSICIAN because a COMPLIMENTARY COMMENT triggered NEGATIVITY from within YOU!
Gregg Galdo
Funny you mention Porcaro. I knew him. He taught me more about drumming than anyone else. He would have been the first to tell you Peter is not a good drummer. Granted, he would do it graciously and politely, but would do it nonetheless. He was a wonderful guy.
I am not as nice. Here's the bottom line - if you don't know Peter is a bad drummer, you suck as a musician. Period. It is really that simple.
Keep up the lessons, it's obvious you need many more if them. Then again, your one year of experience repeated 22 times kind of leads me to believe you won't ever not suck.
Major labels have paid me for decades huge dollars to play on albums. Have they offered that to you? So now tell me who sucks.
As for Steve Smith - the world's best drummer alive today. No one is as good.
And a really nice guy to boot.
He is playing better now than some of the reunion shows
Well think about it that mustve been after months of touring he was worn out here he is well rested and hasn't played in a while
Dwight Manning they controlled him drumming techniques during the reunion tour.
That’s the thing about aging. Sometimes you got it and sometimes you don’t. Unfortunately, I can relate.
His drum kit was huge, this is all you need for any kiss song.
The raw sounds of Chris's drums. Awesome .
He still has that swing classic Kiss and so fun to hear his sound and tasty fills ! Wow
Damn the makeup and costume really does transform Paul. The real Stanley is a low level wiseguy.
Love Peter criss hope he gets back in the band us fans really miss the original catman
Peter has that Original Kiss Energy and sound that can’t be replicated 👍
I agree, he has that special jazzy feeling and swing in his drumming and he is also a very good singer
Singer and Carr are better
@@natecannon6746 that's a joke
@@ocho611
No it's really not
Nate Cannon I agree tho peter Criss at the top of his game was pretty good
When I want to learn KISS songs on drums, I always watch old videos of KISS. It's the only way to get the true feel
I was probably about seven years old when I found his first solo album it was on 8 track it was pretty much the only thing I had. I man wore that tape out I played it every day beating on card board boxes I can still my older brother saying he wished that tape would break nowadays I have a real set and I still play those same songs what ever drumming capability I have I owe to this man
Killer ! Peter still good as ever, doesn't overplay and perfectly placed fills . What more could you ask for in a Drummer.
Legend
That’s what I’ve always loved about his style...he just doesn’t overplay and it’s makes for a great groove.
He was the reason I picked up the sticks! People can say what they want, but he will always be great in my book!
Peter WOW ,now that's the real kiss. Not some tribute band but the real deal. Love you Peter.
Wow! They did this on my birthday hehe best birthday gift ever 🤘
This is KISS-drums the way it should sound!
Great work Peter.
Håkan Fröjd
You are obviously not a drummer. I could teach this to a 10 year old girl in a day.
James Rudd good for you fuckwad, the beats wouldn’t be here to teach or learn if it wasn’t for him, playing something already created is easy, it takes skill to CREATE something.
James Rudd I could play Stairway to Heaven on guitar when I was 12, so I’m better than Jimmy Page.
This was great!!!! Thanks for posting!!!!!!!
CatMan show em' how's its done, we still love ya' man!!!
Damn right
Thanks for posting this!
This is obviously his band hosting a guy who wanted to sing a kiss song- probably during rehearsals for his farewell shows.
He’s in his 70’s- he’s had tendinitis and other issues- but the song parts are all there, and his timekeeping is steady.
He’s just not snapping the drums like a guy who has no tendon issues-
I don’t understand the negative commentary on this vid
As a drummer who suffers from tendinitis, I know how he feels.
He's lived the life of 10 men. Live long and prosper Catman
Perfect drumming!, great Peter!!
I saw him in March of1975 Schererville Indiana....they just put out the album....or 8-track "Hotter Than Hell".....no CDs back then.....I don't even think cassettes were popular yet. What a great band.
No better drummer for kiss then Peter Criss!! The OG Catman!
Eric carr was not bad too
Eric Singer isn’t the real Catman, but he is the best drummer. They need Eric lol
Paul always complained about Peters drumming he seems just to be doing fine.
Peter plays with a lot of Heart!!!
Peter was the reason I was a drummer in high school great drummer 😎
Awesome! Go Peter!
Go peter!
It’s good to see a younger fellow playing KISS on his guitar.
So natural , it’s all Peter here . The slag it’s unforced and plays itself.
pete was awesome here
A few years ago Guitar Center would hold a Drum off in LA and they honored Peter with an award. You could tell he was very honored.
He has a very similar style to his late friend Jerry Nolan of the NY Dolls. It's a loose R&B/Rock New York sound.
They were very good friends. Peter said Jerry gave him his first drum lesson.
Exactly ! Fuck the haters !!! Peter accomplished more than most of them ever will. How many of those idiots can say they played in one of the biggest bands in history ? How many Gold and Platinum records have they played on ? How many times have they been on sold out world tours ? How many have played on one of the most influential albums in rock history Kiss Alive ? Peter wasn't the best drummer ever and he never claimed he was. He played with feeling and from his heart. He was an integral part of Kiss's success in the 70's. He's not 27 anymore. So what, we're all going to get old. Peter's playing on those first 5 Kiss albums was great ! Fuck the haters ! Bunch of wanna be rock star losers. And oh yeah...by the way, Peter is still a millionaire.
Jerry didn’t have a loose feel, he had pocket so deep you’d lose your change in them.
That's because both of them were taught to play by Gene Krupa.
Peter Criss is one of the most underrated drummers in rock history, his style, rhythm and technique is unique. None other Kiss drummer can play with his nuances. He is a real musician that transmits feelings.
@BIG HORN MGTOW I totally agree, they are human beings, with feelings like everyone of us, so what happened with KISS is understandable.
Peter plays with feeling and has that mojo even now.
Your the man Peter Criss!!! My favorite drummer of all time.
HE PLAYS BETTER THAN PAUL´S SINGIN´
Heroin? Paul has been clean all his life and can't sing at all anymore. Peter has been doin cocaine like a madman and plays fine for a retired 72 year old..
Truth!! Lol
😂😂😂truth!!!
Hell I'd rather have this guy sing for two hours, then to have to listen to Paul barking at me all night.
Luke Cold truth Paul is shot
Peter plays perfect here ! That’s Peter Criss as we knew him back then !!!
Just Great !!!
I love Peter Criss…a big part of the original Kiss sound 🤟🏼
At first wanted to hate on this...but then thought it was awesome! You know that singer is someone's rowdy ass uncle! 🤘 Love it!!
gee funny how Paul Stanley was bitching about Peter and seems he did pretty damned good to me
He can still drum a lot better than Paul “lip sync” Stanley can sing.
Peter is well rested here. He can't do a full show let alone a tour.
@@natecannon6746 Oh yeah? Says who?
@@midlifecrisis13
Says his physical limitations. He struggled to get by back in 96. Peter on stage in 2020 would be awful. Eric Singer is a much better drummer and much better suited for the band.
I imagine seeing one song is different than playing full shows night after night. I love Kiss, and especially Ace and Peter, but playing in a band myself, I've seen where guys sound great one day, and they're a mess the next. Though Peter does sound good here, doesn't he?
My goodness. There it is! That Classic KISS sound!
For an old guy, Peter does pretty well I think...You can't compare him to what he did in 1974.
Mc90
Ringo is a human metronome. A solid drummer.
Anyone who says he isn't good is an idiot.
You are CLEARLY not a musician. Look, if you don't know what you're talking about...it's best to shut the hell up to avoid looking like an idiot.
Just a suggestion.
Mc90
If you're a musician, you're a shitty one.
Professional session guy here. Where have you played other than your parent's basement.
Peter sucks. The fact you don't know this isnproof you suck too.
It isn't an opinion. Peter sucks. Period. Always has.
He couldn't play jazz if he practiced for a year.
I was also young in the 70´s. Peter is an awesome drummer. Love the old Kiss with his sound.
He's still great ..love the way plays the best!!!
Peter is ripping this shut up. Damn good for an old man. Great Job Peter, and the singer was ripping that shit up too. Great Vid!! Thanx for posting
I think Peter is ready for a reunion
I think not. He struggled back in 03 when he was way younger. He couldn't handle playing a two hour show let alone a full tour.
That was surprisingly good!
Awesome!!!! He's still got it!
I need more of this
Peter Criss is and always will be my favorite member of Kiss.
That was really great to watch.
Way to go great jam!!
nailed it. that was great
The kids still got it. 2018 reunion let's do it
That was way cooler than I expected
