I'll be making up some links for the front of my XJ soon. It looks like you left ~1/2" of thread on each Heim showing? Also, when fitting the upper links, which of the three holes on the frame side bracket did you measure to? For initial setup, which of the three holes do you use? The cross member I bought also has three holes for the upper links. I am very green in suspension setup, but experienced in metal fab (fit steel on ships).
I like to leave about 3 threads showing which puts the shank almost fully through the bung threads. Leaves a little room for adjustment on the links if needed. For seperation all depends on the setup link length tire size and the like but I like to start around 55% of the axle side seperation at frame side
