Great review, Andrew! I need Thor Epic collection volume 3 ,Wrath of Odin132-152 and I will finally have a complete Kirby run to read! I originally read them in Marvel Special Edition,Thor reprints in annuals& Marvel Spectacular more Thor reprints! Kirby was over at DC and Marvel would put out as much Kirby stories in reprints as possible! And I didn’t mind because it was the best of both worlds! 🎯👍😎

I read a lot of them in those reprints as well in Marvel Special Edition etc, and also in the Spider-Man Weekly (UK). Epic 3 still seems to be in print, I have those stories in Omni, only got Thor epic 6 and 7 (with 8 coming)

"Pardon me Mr Hercules .. do they have any of the lost plays or the scrolls of the epic cycle in Olympus?" how marvelous that would be. I like the Epic Collection books, fantastic way to fill gaps in a collection. Good review, I wonder when Thor stopped to armwrestle last, or go mead drinking with the warriors three.

You can't beat a bit of arm wrestling, though I haven't done that since about 16. The epics are a great way to collect these stories, I have omnibuses as well but many storylines are really fine in epic. Yes, that would definitely be one of my questions about lost plays etc, no time travellers to Shakespeare's time ever asks 'and what happened to that play, Cardenio ? or Love Labour's Wonne ?

A good title for this epic is not so easy, as it's one loose story after another. maybe Pantheons, as we hav nord, greek and egyptian gods. Looking at my Thor Epics, his title has had much love in the Epic line. The only big thing missing is the walter simonson era. ( for the time the Thor by walter simonson trades fill that gap). I think you are right about the covers: if it's done by other artist, name them! As always a nice review from you, keep em coming.

They always go for a title from the stories in the book but they always seem to choose one that barely matches most of the book. Minor issue as they have to give it some title. I look forward to those Walter Simonson ones, I have an omni of a number of his Thor stories. I will probably still get the epics though
I don't think they ever put any detail about the cover artists / inkers / colorists etc, I am baffled that they miss that off. There were a lot of Gil Kane (I think he did most of the 70s comics and I loved many of them)

Really miss the art and multi panels of the vintage comics use to feel like you really travelled places modern comics are all splash pages doesn’t convey the whole story

I must admit, I still like the multiple panels per page and the massive single page imagery is not something that I love, I guess many people do but I prefer the 60s / 70s style anyday
