This is a fantastic route up Blencathra via Sharp Edge. It is one of the Lake District's lesser known but most testing ridges so I hope to show you all you need to know in this video. I hope you enjoy it! If you would like to support my channel that would be amazing 😀: buymeacoffee.com/trekkingwithtony
Super video Tony and Alison. I did Sharp Edge and Blencathra about 30 years ago and you're right, the climb after Sharp Edge is the sting in the tale. The best edge that I've done is definitely Crib Goch, though it's not a day I'll forget in a hurry. Really enjoyed that and a great reminder of a day 30 years ago (with a hangover!!!). Thanks for sharing your film.
Thanks Martin, I always enjoy this one. Such a fun ridge. I did Crib Goch in the summer and it is quite the climb. I think people really underplay how tricky it is to get there, never mind walk the ridge 😆. Glad you got to do them both and I could bring the memories back. Enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️
Another fantastic video. Done it a couple of times and it’s a great bang for your buck hike. Short n sweet if you want it to be and bit for me is always the bad step. Feels like you’re stepping across the abyss - unless I’m missing something and there’s an easier way across that bit. Really enjoyed the video again. Thanks 👌
Thanks mate, it is always great fun 😁. There isn’t any other way over bad step unless you go down the side, and where is the fun in that 😆. Thanks for your support mate, all the best out there ⛰️😁🥾
@@louisesmith3860 Hi Louise, it’s a great hike and can be done in an afternoon. As the days get shorter it is one you can think about as an autumn hike 🍂. I hope you get to do it soon. Let me know if you do ⛰️😁🥾
Accidentally got on Sharp Edge, 3 of us, doing Queens Scout award. We got lost coming down in February snow and ice wind and fog about 50 years ago not been back since. Never been as glad to get off a ridge in my life very scary my mate said he knew where he was so we believed him, wish I hadn’t 😢
First, congrats on the Queen Scouts Award, I've also completed mine many moons ago. It is not a place to be in those conditions, terrifying in fact. I'm glad you all made it down safe😅. Enjoy it out there mate⛰😃🥾
Hi Tony and Allison. A brilliant video of one of my favourite fells. You both looked very calm going along the ridge, its certainly gets my adrenaline going when ive done it. First time with my brother and 2nd time with my wife and 3 kids (grown up) which was much scarier in windy conditions. My favourite way up though is Halls Fell Ridge which ive done a few times and love the scramble up there. Ive only just gone on Instagram, my kids sorted it haha so still feeling my way round but I'll try and find Allison and check your pictures out. All the very best 🙂
Hi Tony, Halls Fell Ridge is a great route up especially if the weather makes Sharp Edge a dicey prospect 😅. It is always one to be cautious on but very exhilarating 😁. Great, Allison has lots on there and is much better at photography than myself 😂. Thanks for the support, enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️
Hi Tony We did mungrisedale last weekend and Bannerdale Crags. The bog on mungrisedale was over a foot deep at one point. Gross. Sharp Edge looked scary. Nice video and I've followed Allison on instagram.
@@Room6photography It is a great ridge, much less busy than Striding Edge and a lot of fun 😁. Mungrisedale is a mess. I’m sure it’s one of Wainwright’s little jokes 🤣. Thanks mate, nice on for checking out Allison’s Instagram 👍. Enjoy it out there 🥾😁⛰️
Hi Tony, Hi Allison, brilliant video, not done Sharp Edge yet, will have to wait until next summer now! 😀 Not happy about you dissing Mungrisedale Common, it’s a cracking fell! 🤣🤣 I was in the lakes on Friday, what a belting day. All the best guys 😀⛰🥾
Thanks Dave, you’ll love it. It’s such a great ridge. As I say, it’s probably good from the Mungrisdale side as a walk up to Blencathra but the way I did it was as an offshoot from this walk so I basically had to walk a very squelchy half mile to the pile of stones then come back 😂. Excellent mate, just got back from Grasmere now. Enjoy it out there and thank as always for the support mate ⛰️😁🥾
Happy Sunday Tony and Allison! Looked like another great hike! Would also love to see Allison’s instagram - but missing the link and when I have tried to click the link in previous videos - it didn’t work. 😊
Hi Barbara, it was great fun 😁. I’ll have a look at it now. I don’t think RUclips likes me copying and pasting so give it 20 mins and I’ll sort it. Thanks for your support ⛰️😁🥾

Mungrisdale epitomises Wainwrights sense of humour, webbed feet all the way 😂
I’m sure you are right mate. I’m sure he threw some in for a laugh 🤣
Never done blencathra keep putting it off for some reason but it does look stunning must admit xx
