Explore Troutbeck Valley on this beautiful 3 Wainwright walk. Enjoy the lesser walked Wainwrights
We start todays walk leaving Jesus Church in Troutbeck. Heading over the bridge we find the small path which takes us to Garburn Road. After ascending on this stable path we take a stile over the field to Dubbs Road. Crossing this, we continue heading up Sour Howes and soon find the summit and great views down to Windermere.
It is a relatively flat walk to Swallows along the crescent shaped edge. Once we've captured our second Wainwright of the day we work our way down with Yoke on our right and find Garburn road once again.
Heading down this easy path with Windermere ahead we eventually turn off toward Trout Beck and then follow it on a low level valley walk toward Troutbeck tongue.

    Good video again Tony and Allison! I did the Tongue at the end of April as a stand-alone walk and climbed it from the back, coming down the steep nose. Made it more fun for me, although I found the return down the valley a bit of a trudge, tbh. Truss Lane though, was indeed pretty clear. I'll take in Sallows and Sour Howes on a route I've planned, from Kirkstone Pass Inn via Stony Cove Pike, Ill Bell and Yoke down to Troutbeck. Allison, I, for one, would love to hear your thoughts on some of the walks you two do, especially the steeper of the ups and downs. You are, afterall, the unsung heroine of the videos! Keep up the great content!! 👍😁

      Thanks Adie, it’s a tricky one to get in with other mountains as there are routes to take in the surrounding fells but you need to head down and do the Tongue on its own. Hi Tony Hi Allison. Brilliant walk mate. Troutbeck Tongue is the pain in the back side one I have left in that are. Wansfell....check, Sour Howes and Sallows....check. I think it will be a winter one for me or maybe a summit camp. Whats the ground like on the top, is it relatively dry or is it quite soft? @@DAoutdoors Hi Dave, thanks mate, yes, I did that walk around it last summer which felt quite a slog in the heat 🥵. It’s a great one to pop up in winter when the cloud base is lower. The bottom 50 yards was boggy but once on the path it is dry, and dry on top. It can also be accessed from the other side where the ‘ancient kern’ is according to the wainwright book. Thanks mate, just about to get off the train. Enjoy it out there ⛰️😁🥾

    Loved this video, Tony, and you asked for feedback from anyone who has done the route - we did a similar route a year ago with Alan Metalman. You took a shorter route off Sallows: we left the Garburn Road about 100 yards earlier than you and fought our way through the ferns; we went round the back of Troutbeck Tongue, you went up and down from the front. We went back the same way though you kept taking paths off the road - Alan and I bombed down the road whilst Andrea stayed at the Queen's Inn!! It was a long walk in total but very enjoyable. We hardly met anyone all day except a few fell runners. Your commentary throughout was brilliant - I wish I had watched your video before we did our hike!! Regards, Ashley p/s I see you've passed 1000 subs - well done!!

    I know you post a video every Sunday but I'm interested to know the timescales to put a video out. Is it planned well in advance or off the cuff. Is it a full day job Inc travelling ? From filming to editing how long does it take. I don't think the likes of myself who enjoys your videos realise all the effort that goes into it.

    • @trekkingwithtony
      @trekkingwithtony 3 дня назад

      @@jamesnichols2619 Hi James, Good question mate. I plan the route, do my research so I can get as much information as I can. The filming is a day and the editing takes 8-10 hours as I generally film 90 mins plus drone footage and edit it down to make it as good as I can for you. I’m glad you appreciate the effort and that’s why it really matters that you like and comment as it helps the channel grow. Another great video, Tony, as usual. I did catbells a few months ago walking from Keswick town centre. Can you tell me where you can the bus from and what's it's called, as I'm hoping to do it again with the in-laws so want to make the walk shorter. Thanks.

      Hi Kev, glad you got to do it 😁. The bus is the number 78 from Booths supermarket. They are every hour, or you can get the boat to the jetty, again, every hour. Enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️

    1st time watching your content and I absolutely loved it. My only Wainwright so far I walked it about 18 months ago prior to a cancer diagnosis and have been recuperating since with an aim to get back out there very soon. I walked it from the independent hostel on the far side of Dewent water, round the top end via Lodore hotel , my ascent started roughly at the lay-by where the ice cream van is in your video and then I basically followed your rout to the top and most of the way down until the signpost by the Wall . I went right there and back round the top end of the lake again. I loved every minute of my walk and this just made me recall 90% of it vividly Thanks so much.

      Hi Chris, I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking time out to let me know. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I hope the recovery is going well. If you are sure-footed then by far the best route up Snowdon is Crib Goch. I did it in winter, over 40 years ago, on a sunny day, when it was covered in snow. That was really scenic.
