  • My road bike experience so far, 1 year on since I bought my first road bike.
I can't believe how addictive this is, I have ridden bikes before, but the efficiency of a road bike is unparalleled.
I used to believe that drop handlebars would only be needed by racers, now I consider them to be able to allow the most natural riding position.
If in doubt try, but be aware: you will be stuck in the loop!

Beautiful bikes! Consider cutting the excess steerer tube on the Merida, as the section behind the stem may not be entirely supported by the compression plug…

You are right, will do it soon. Seems stable so far and got it checked anyway. Looks better when cut.

I'm probably going to buy the Scultura 200 which will be my 1st Road bike. Did you having problems with cross chaining etc when you started out or any advice for a novice? I live in Sydney Australia, so most of my riding will be flat or moderate climbs. I can see myself buying a Bianchi if I take to road biking but baby steps 1st. I always worry about getting a puncture and getting stranded. Worry wart. Nice review.

I believe the Scultura 200 can be a great 1st road bike, just got back from my commute with it under the rain. Cross chain is not a big issue, as long as you don't go to the extremes. I stay in the big ring most of the time and use the cassette up to the last 3rd easy cog, i.e. leave the 2 lowest gears unused. If I find myself grinding after that point I drop to the small ring in the front. I always carry 2 spare tubes, mini pump, levers and multi tool as punctures happen and definitely you will need to get used to change the tube. Good luck!

I spent a long time deciding between the Canyon Endurace vs Ultimate, in the end I went for the Endurace... was it a mistake, don't know? I will find out.. only arrived recently, so looking forward to testing it out :)

I believe they are very similar, the Ultimate is supposed to be more aggressive and forward position. Don't think you can make a mistake with the Endurace.

Hi, very nice video. Please, what frame size do you have in Merida? and how tall are you? I am considering about L or XL (I am 188cm tall) Many thanks.

Thank you, I have the Merida and the Canyon both in L, on the Canyon I have a 12cm stem, 11cm on the Merida. I'm 185cm, with longish arms I believe.

Good question, at that time my local shop adjusted the wheels. I believe the Fulcrum came with the correct attachments for both
