I love how her sound has matured. She sounds even better here than when she was in Nightwish. Nothing to complain about her looks either. She is absolutely stunning, and she looks so happy now. I hope that one day she and Nightwish can make an reconciliation, and we can see them perform some old classic together. Yeah, boy can dream.

She laughed and gave me a big hug, and she told me that she’s also much happier now than she ever was with that band.

I think this is my Favourite rendition of "Over the Hill and Far Away" ... Tarja's devellopment of chest voice allows her to Belt out most of the song with that dark powerfull voice, still reserving the classical technique for the higher parts... this "hybrid" singing technique really suits this song! And on songs like this that Tarja Turunen is singing for so many years it really shows how much she evolves and takes risks experimenting with her voice (Sleeping Sun and Stargazers are also other good exemples of how she keeps getting better). Sorry don't like it. It turns her from a unique singer to just another singer. The switching to the classical style for the high parts just does not match with the other "ordinary voice" she uses. Disappointed.
Not only her voice sounds different, she seems to really enjoy while she is on the stage. She looks so natural and organic. She didnt look like that in the final years with Nightwish. Good for her!!!!!

Floor is way better in versatility, she has an outstanding capacity to change between different styles even within a song, a very strong chest voice and hell of a belt. Just check out e.g. Ghost Love Score @Wacken 2013. There are 2-3 songs that suit Tarja's voice better, but for most, Floor is doing an excellent job. Tarja's chest voice is weak, belt almost nonexisting, transitions between head and chest son't pull out and the result is pretty awful. I really loved her back in the day. These days, I prefer Floor. Annette between them was a different story. She was pop singer, so she couldn't do the older songs, not really, although did a good job with those written for her.

I really love the stuff Tarja did with Nightwish. Even some of her solo songs are OK. The soprano parts of this are really great, but otherwise she's struggling a bit these days. She does look fantastic though!
Check out her classical concerts, her technique only got better. What is happening here is that she is having some (bad) stylistic choices by using her chest voice instead of head voice. Her chest voice sounds nice in some newer songs though it just doesn't fit for older songs wich were written for singing on head voice. She still needs develop her chest voice a lot and it is understandable as she never really formally studied pop singing, only classical.
