Sinovuyo Mbonda's journey started with a genuine quest to find answers to his questions. When he accepted Christ in his early teens, he wouldn't have believed you if you said one day, he would be ixhwele or igqirha (sangoma). Infact he would have dismissed that thought without flinching. But as he grew in his knowledge of Christ, he continued to have many unanswered questions.
The questions led to more reading and knowledge seeking until he reached a point where christianity didn't resonate with him. He left the Adventist church, but saw himself coming back as it was the only thing he knew. Unfortunately his soul was not at peace as he realised that, going to church didn't come naturally anymore, it felt forced until he decided, this christianity "is not for me."
From there he had dreams and started learning about African origins and spirituality, he later answered his calling to become iXhwele - Sangoma.
He tells his story in such an engaging manner. This is part 1 of a two episode interview. In part 2 he talks about his African Tradition beliefs and what it means to him.
The interview is about him leaving Christianity for spirituality.

You know I had a friend who is christian at heart if I should say, the guys speaks of Jesus as if he knows him, he would walk out on his family whilst they are performing rituals/traditional practices, he defies everything his family believes in, every friend he has or had is either a healer or comes from a family that believes traditional ways, much like myself, I'm a healer and I come from a pro-cultured family. He decided to cut off all his pro-cultured friends, including me, so I decided to take a step back and give him what he wanted. The funny thing is that, before I made him aware that I was a healer and before he ended our friendship, he would tell about dreams he had or would have, about Sangomas playing drums for him and chasing him around and how his parents appear in his grannies dreams asking, where he was and all those type of dream's. I realised he would interpret those dreams in a way that would fit his understanding and state of mind.
I still feel bad for him.

Why do you feel bad for him??Is he not happy and fulfilled where he is...?

@@SomethingNicewithDinano I feel bad for him because he is not strong and smart enough to face the truth. I mean he is very intelligent, like in an insane way😥, he scares me sometimes, but with all those brains he is still not smart enough to see what's happening and strong/brave enough to face the truth because, besides the fact that he is a very stubborn individual, I believe he is afraid of of what people might say especially because people have always known him as a born again Christian, I even told him this.
Well it's been a while since we last spoke or met up, so I wouldn't know for sure, but the last time we did, things weren't going okay.

People must live their lives the way they see fit...one must choose a path that will lead to their own personal fulfillment and we as observers should be comfortable enough and matured enough to allow people to be...
