I am pleased that I watched this video. (I usually watch yours but this one just popped up). I have a mower similar to this that I have just finished repairing but the throttle cable was shot. I had taken it off and was looking for a new one. But like you said, it is not really required on this type of engine. So you have saved me a few pounds. Thanks for that. I didn't listen to your advice about starting with the easy B&S engines though and picked up a Victa that kept cutting out. But I am persevering with it. There are some governor springs or arms missing and I am struggling to get some spares but think I now have some coming from Australia. So I WILL get it sorted and sold. Thanks again for saving me some money and for your great videos which have helped me enormously. Keep up the great work.
I sell loads in roughly the same sort of condition, many of which do end up on allotments and even had one end on at a glider club!!! Good to see you back making videos again!!
When I delivered it up to the glider club I happen to notice that they have an aero tow aircraft which i have to say was stupid loud!!!! Still, I did stay to enjoy a full English in their cafe!!!
Don't understand why you take the plug out to easystart it. Why not just spray it in the carb?? I'd be interested to know if there's a good reason, thanks.
It's a different style carb on these and to do that you would need to remove the air filter each time. Also it isn't easy to direct down the intake on these
i would service that engine and keep it complete as a spare then if you find a nice tidy mower with dead engine you can buy it cheap fit this engine and make good money back from it
Good to see you have come out of hibernation Paul lol 😂😂😂 I couldn't believe it started omg 😱. I have 4 mowers at present and I havent got the time to do them up. Hopefully someone will buy the lot of me will definitely make a profit they were so cheap.
Hi I have got a Mountsfield SY150 , juts bought it as a fixer. , it will start up on choke , runs for few seconds the dies , ive cleaned carb twice , and still same problem . do these have problems with coils failing> anyone got any ideas?
I sometimes do that. I don't get many lawnmowers with engines I can't repair so I rarely end up with just a decent deck. Sometimes I break them down for spares also. I did consider a lot of options but wanted a quick sale and as it was completely free it was 100% profit. I've been saving up for a battery impact drill so the cash was useful. I bought one today. Cheers Chris.

Thanks, mystery solved. Just bought an old SV150 mower, pre micro switch so probably very old! Great videos, have learnt a lot. Thanks.
My favourite and easiest engine to repair
Another fun and informative video. SRAP :) made me grin everytime

Cheers Matt! I had a lady this week that wanted one for her stables! Pretty ironic the only engine at a glider club is on a lawnmower haha!

a cheap easy fix well done
Engine runs well, maybe a donor to a better deck?
Easy money, nice one Paul
retrorestore Lovely Jubbly Martin!
Would of been a nice mower before deck rotted nice wide cut. Looks like an American style one.
Yes, I bet massive 20-inch cut! love a free lawnmower

For the sake of 20pounds i would keep the spares.
Do the Briggs mowers not need the speed/choke selectors then?
Pedro Stanjel Anything with the same carburettor set up as this doesn't.
Damn! Could have done with the wheels off it aswell! 😂😂

Joe Shoestring Racer I've got a video coming shortly on sv150 problems !
Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you get spares. If anyone buys the wooded lot next to me, I will have a problem.
Not bad at all for srap!
Is it a 35 classic
yeah
@@MowerMan thought so! I’ve got 1 soon to be 2 or 3!
@@legowarriorsadventure3613 Good luck!
@@MowerMan thanks I’ll probably need it! 😂
Why would you not keep the engine scrape the deck , wait for a newer deck to put it on , make more money .
