An AHB where the sound stops after the barriers lower? Odd.

IIRC, AHBs in the UK, especially back in the days of mechanical bells (and I believe for at least a few years after BR adopted yodalarms). It appears that this crossing is still running on its original relays, despite the newer equipment across the board, so that's probably why the alarms shut-off when the gates lower.
