Al Sr. Montejo, una corrección: NUNCA ha circulado en España esta locomotora, pero otras similares, de la Compañía del Norte y luego Renfe, como las 7200, 7500, sí que lo hicieron.Algunas fabricads por Oerlikon, en Suiza. He viajado de Ávila a Madrid remolcado por alguna de ellas y puedo asegurarle que eran aún más espectaculares que la cocodrilo suiza ( la que, por cierto, tengo en escala N, la marrón, 14253, la que se ve en el video)
Any Idea why it was on a turntable? By the looks of it they didn't even turn the locomotive and on top of that even if they did it would be useless as it has a cab on both ends.
To avoid storage damages, these old trains that are not in use get driven around once in a while. Usually there is a crowd watching and the SSB, for example, even charges money for participating. So it is mostly for entertainment and the turntable was either shown for the audiance to see, or, because sometimes these things get organized at disused tracks, the workers also tried to avoid standstill damage on the turntable as well. (just a guess though).
Similar to Pennslyvania railroad Jackshaft locomotives DD-1 Too bad there is only one pair left. Two locomotives connected via vestubule and Drawbar. as a unit.
Thats a neat design, semstrical, electric or hybrid, not a steam engine but has side rods. Maybe they couldnt make good electric motors small enough for each wheel at the time.
Translation - "you turned it the wrong way, you dumkopf!" :-) In NZ, in the 1950's, there used to be a horse, or two, kept nearby to move the turntables with the massive steam engines on them. I also used to see two men, one on each on lever, moving the t'table with the smaller, lighter diesel locos aboard.
Looks to me like they know about electricity since the locomotive uses it to move. Or didn't you notice all the overhead wires and pantographs on the roof? DUH!!!
