Wendell and I got out for a Beauty trail ride on the Sussex Valley ATV club trail system. We take off from Animal Land Campground and hit trail #3401 going towards Poley Mtn ski hill. We check out a few amazing look-offs, fly the drone around and stop to have a campfire supper. I hope you like the video !

Thats sort of what I'm trying to do with my videos, I get comments all the time on how lucky we are to have trail systems like this, and that threy are coming from other provinces, or the US to ride...

Hey man ! thanks a lot ! We are really lucky to have the trails we have, you can pretty much get into everything if you know where to look haha You'll have to come up and ride sometime once the COVID stuff is gone.
@@Maritimer yeah I was just looking at that as a trip. About a 17hr plus drive, but it would def be worth it. Get this damned Ol Covid mess out of here and it just might be on my radar.
Yikes thats a pretty long drive ! but yeah this COVID stuff sucks...... we are lucky we dont have many cases here, maybe a few... we started the "atlantic Bubble" with the atlantic provinces and it's been working great. very low Covid numbers.

The farmers field lookoff is known as “The number 7 lookoff”
When you see the field from a certain angle, it’s in the shape of a 7. You can notice it from the highway as you’re passing the drive-in.

Awesome James. Man I am home sick now. Been on all those trails before. Glad you found Abbey House. After you left the house, you could hand a left on that first road and also drive up to Friars Nose. Your previous trip you came down from the top I believe. Just a note if you are not aware, Chaga should be harvested in the winter. All the nutrients will be back in it then. If you harvest when the tree is active in the growing season, it's less beneficial. Looking forward to more like this one. Man I miss the Sussex trail network.

I knew Friars nose was close but I wasn't sure where to go haha thanks for the heads up ! and I didn't know about the Chaga thing either, I figured it wouldn't matter what time of year you harvest b/c that chaga is killing the tree anyway (from what I read) but thanks for the heads up !

Harvesting chaga is best during the fall months when there have been at least 20 consecutive nights of temperatures below 20 degrees (-6C). The birch trees go dormant and the chaga will hold the peak amount of nutrients.
When you are harvesting chaga, only the sterile conk needs to come off the tree. Chaga is finite and needs to be harvested carefully and in a sustainable manner. When done correctly you can harvest chaga from the same site throughout the fall and winter months. Once sap starts to run, you should no longer collect the chaga from that site because the mushrooms will be as much as 80% water with almost no medicinal benefits.
Another great instalment. Although I continue to watch via my Apple TV , I’m guessing you don’t get the same value from this without the “likes “‘etc...so for the record, keep up the good work, have not missed an episode. Hey Terry ! Congrats on the new machine ! the King Quad is a very good bike ! I almost got the KQ 750 over my current Grizzly. I just went with the Grizzly b/c I had one before and really liked it. That's awesome ! and part of the reason I wanted to make some videos of our trail system was b/c when I first moved here, there wasn't much for trail maps and no videos on YT. Another great video man, thanks for sharing! I was out that way with a large group last year. We left from the Timberland and ended up at Friars Nose. Fantastic trails and look-offs in that area for sure. I wasn't a fan of the Picadilly Hill cliimb, but it does appear to be better now in your video. Cheers!

@@Maritimer we went a week to early the following week would have been much better for the fall colors. We did plan on going back a couple weeks later but the leaves changed so fast and fell to quick. Ohhhh you must ride up near Stanley/Juniper eh? I eat at the Pour House in Juniper and they have ATV trail maps on the napkins haha I saw that plane crash site and though t that would be cool. My co-worker showed me pics of Balancing rock and Chimney rock, they look pretty awesome. Maybe I'll hit ya up and come up for a ride sometime !

This is as close to ATVing as get now that mine sold. Still have the Jeep, but ya know how that is frowned upon. Luckily we still have places for that as well and we always do a little trail work when-ever we can. My dogs at 113lbs and 55lbs, just no ATV for all 4 of us!! Jeep it is! LOL
Hey Buddy ! Oh yeah the Jeep would be a lot of fun ! and the best part is you can buy a jeep for less than a SXS, wheel with it all day, then hop on the road (legally) ad drive home haha cant do that on a SXS for some reason lol
Yeah trails are bit smooth lol but darn nice be able connect to so many areas. Can't say much there plenty times we ride forest service rds or pipelines fair smooth.
Crazy those guys shooting so close think they would stop knowing your around . Look like great day out for sure cheers .

Yeah I think they were just out, having some drinks, smoking some stuff and shooting guns off haha I didn't trust them so I yelled over to give them a heads up.
@@Maritimer to funny it would be nice to have a main trail like that here connects to other towns / citys but prob never happen .
Far to much logging goes on trucks on most forest service rds we allowed on them but is risky they care less about atv rather run you over .
This part of Canada so far behind trails and connecting other Communities for trails compared to back east is not funny . Is why most trails we ride are just old log rds pipelines mixed with some odd registered trails . But 90 % trails i ride are just back rd old and new log rds
man thats tough.... too bad the Govenment there can't see the revinue that ATV's and sleds bring in.... why else would Quebec have such a vast network of trails... it bring in money.... I'm not a fan of large scale logging, there are so many other ways to get building materials..... I know we need some logging but the rate the are going now and the way they just rip and tear it all to hell bothers me.
This was a great video! Thanks for the great explanation of the trails. I am new to the sport here in PEI but would love to try this trail. Do you remember how many kms this was? I've also seen a ride to Martin Head, a covered bridge and Wallace Falls that looks awesome. Planning on a weekend trip this year.
Hey ! yes you should go check out the Sussex trails, I believe this was close to 100km trip. if you check out Polaris Ride Command, you can see the Sussex trail system pretty good, you'd want to get on trail 3401 by Animal land campground. You should check out this video, if's basically the same trip but I go to all the spots in this video and more, plus camp on Martin head with my brother and father.

Yeah man Sussex is a great spot to ride, it's crazy most of the work is done by volunteers !

I always get the impression that it is very safe for you to let Wendel run alongside of you on these public trails. Ever encounter other riders while he's not on the machine with you?
Hey Clinton ! Yeah for the most part it's pretty safe but there is always a risk. I usually pick and choose what times to let im run, usually on trails where I can see a good distance, or where I don't think I'll see many other riders. Wider trails so if we do run into someone they have room to avoid him.
it's a risk though, some guys ride pretty hard haha
Love watching what Wendall does in the basket. What does he think when you keep going back to get camera for the drive by shots. ? 😄
Hey Clint ! Yeah Wendell is really entertaining, and I think he's used to it now, but at the start of the trip he usually whines/ cries when I walk away from him haha near the end of the trip, he's usually tired and just wants me to hurry up haha Thanks for watching !

Sorry I'm late! I've been camping since this video was posted and am now just watching it Sunday evening. Good stuff, beautiful Fall colors all around, and thank you for giving us a good 43 minutes of footage. Drone shots were really nice and your helmet camera/microphone are still dialed in and looking/sounding perfect. Also good to see Wendell getting some riding and run time along on your ride. He just goes and goes! I'm also in the pork steak/pork chop camp and find it very versatile to cook with (pulled pork bbq, bone-in pork chops with applesauce, and look up "pork green chile enchiladas" and "carnitas tacos" to see how our southern neighbors in Mexico have shown us how to enjoy it their way). Winter is coming... I'll be in the Arizona desert and I'm guessing you'll have snow soon? Take care and I'll look for the next one. Pete - KI7LIL
