- Installation and review of a custom carbon fiber steering wheel ordered from Jalisco Carbon Fiber. The steering wheel is composed of honey-comb carbon fiber and white leather with carbon fiber thumb grips.

Btw... ITS A T-30 NOT A T-27. You’ll strip the screw the if you use a T-27. Ask me how I know lmao
Yep, T-30 and it needs to be tamper proof (has a little hole in the top). I bought a short arm torx key set but the little piece of metal sticking out in the middle of the bolt prevented me from breaking it loose. Just a side note, when he says “ensure that your wheel is straight”, it doesn’t matter if your wheel looks straight, if your wheels don’t have a good alignment, the racing stripe at the top will line up. I didn’t realize this, so I did the whole process of readjusting the entire wheel about two or three times. Subsequently, this led to something going wrong with the electronic wiring. I am now unable to use the horn or the end call button.
EDIT: After doing more research recently, I am almost certain that my loss of button function was a result of me breaking my clock spring. The clock spring can be see at 4:49 when he removes the wheel. Is is the big black circle. DO NOT SPIN IT. I assume that while doing this install, I must have become bored and decided to spin that around. As a result, my wires broke and now I can’t use the wheel functions.

Thank you so much for the great video. I went and ordered mine and it just arrived and I got it installed and everything looks good but my only problem is now my airbag light flashes. Is that normal? I reopened everything just to check and everything is plugged in and everything is perfect so I don’t know what it could be? Mine is the exact same car

When you torque the middle main nut back in place, is there a certain amount of pressure or torque needed or do you just tighten it till I can’t can’t be tightened anymore?

How have the thumb grips held up? I like them but am a little concerned about the longevity of those and the adhesive or whatever is holding them on.
No issue yet but I also typically use the top or bottom of the steering wheel more.

Two springs dropped from my steering wheel when I removed the plastic backing , any idea where these two springs belong? Z1 clueless?
Just finished installing a new steering wheel on my Z. They pop into the back of the first metal bracket you took out of the steering wheel. They provide spring tension for the horn. You'll see a black cross on the back of that piece, that's where they pop on to. Probably a little late for you John but hopefully helps others out. 🤪
How long did it take to receive the steering wheel after you placed the order?

Hows that white looking? Is there any white thst can so well & be kept clean? Like perforated Italian leather or some other material?
It's heldbup really well, no discoloration so fat. I try to keep my hands clean.
It's probably not italian leather. Something cheaper but I'm not an upholstery expert.
Really? Sweet wanted to do White too match but I've seen some reds even discolor, fade or get dirty without being able to clean off. So that's good to hear you can still keep the White looking Fresh. What material is your white part? Leather?
@@gman2478 keep in mind I often drive with a hand in the 12 or 6 position, I don't handle the leather all the time.
The leather is white! And I keep it in a garage.
I do mostly too unless I'm at the strip or doing some sort of racing. So your saying then it is leather? Well if it does get dirty I'm just hoping it can get clean ha. Like I said I've seen some no matter if it was leather, suede or alcantata that it coule not regain it's original look. Appreciate your time & help tho.

Just for looks, been trying to get some I candy for the interior. If there is any weight difference it will only be a few ounces, nothing noticeable.

Success after a buggered torx bolt...
Love easy outs, however be warned... Torx bolts on side of column are case hardened and don't drill out very easy.
Suggest Titanium drill bit.
Once side torx bolts are off. It's easy as.

@@PoloZ34 high tensile Allen key bolts... Same M - thread... Just went to Bunnings which is our local hardware store.....
@@dainepetrou8011 okay cool ty , found some myself. Had to pickup a piece for the dremel tool ended up hollowing out the safety dot in the middle and than use an ez out 👍🏼 put some 10mm bolt with same thread in there and good as new!

Especially if the make the car and sell the car knowing it will be modified by it's owners anyway....
