i’m trying tapestry crochet to make Harry Styles’ sweater and I could see that there was a wrong/right side, but I didn’t know how to make one side the wrong side. I couldn’t find a video on it, but this one was so helpful! Thank you!
EXCELLENT! Your tone of voice, hand positions, camera, lighting, knowledge and confidence in what u are doing cldnt ask for a better tutorial. Never done tapestry crochet. This is the most helpful tutorial about what you should know about tapestry crochet that I've seen so far!! Thank you so much for your wisdom and dedication to guide us tapestry beginners 😇
Ty so much for the tips on how to carry the yarn to the next row and to correct a slant. I knew how to change colors correctly yrs ago, but didnt know about the other 2 tips.😊🧶
Thank you so much - this tutorial is so incredible helpful and I am totally looking forward for my first tapestry crochet diamonds on my first (and for sure only) temperature blanket. Thanks a lot and greetings form Germany/Bavaria
Awesome, I just saw that on Sandys channel I'm so glad to see you doing that too. I was doing that stitch while watching your tutorial. I did sub. Thank you so much 💓
WOW thank you so much I have been looking for this information because I want to do flat when I do it it comes out being round more like a hand bag... I have to practice this way because I like to add different Picture graph to make like a baby blanket thank you again... I had made many hand bags and gave them as gift but I always wanted to learn to do it flat... 😊👌
Bonjour Tonya. I'm in a pickle with an alphabet cube as I had no idea about «tapestry crochet». Actually this is my first time hearing the term as I was searching some help. Thank you very much for uploading your video. It helps!!!
This video is great, thank you. One done lots of cricket but no tapestry crochet. I want to do the Scheepjes Cal starting in October. I think I be got the hang of it thanks to you!!
It isn't strictly necessary to work it throughout your project but there is a subtle difference between the look of the sc stitches. I would recommend working up a swatch and seeing what you are comfortable with. I hope that helps! 🌸
So glad you found it helpful Valerie! To give the project the same look throughout I would recommend using for the whole project. However, if you have a large section without color changes and the yarn over is more comfortable for you it wouldn't affect it wouldn't be obvious. Hope that helps! 😊
I'm making an afghan with tapestry crochet throughout. According to your instructions I need to carry the second color all the way through. This means I have to purchase double the amount of yarn called for in the pattern. Am I understanding this correctly? This is going to be my first try. Thanks.
I am happy to help! If you are using someone's pattern they should be indicating how much yarn you would be using total - even if you are carrying the yarn throughout. However, I would recommend ordering some "extra" just in case. You won't be using as much as double because carrying doesn't use as much as a single crochet stitch would. I hope this makes sense - and have fun trying your hand at tapestry! 💕
Thank you so much. I am doing a CAL that involves loads of chains behind a row of Xmas tree motifs. This makes it totally unsuitable for my grandson because the long chains are going to get stuck in everything. So I thought I would find out about tapestry crochet. Your teaching is wonderful and your video so clear. I am going to frog what I have done and do it in tapestry instead. I've just got to adapt the written pattern ???? Wish me luck lol. Thank you again.
While single crochet is most-often used for tapestry crochet, you can also work tapestry crochet using half double crochet or double crochet stitches. The basic premise I show in the video would be the same for other stitches as well. I hope that helps!😊
i dont get why ur carrying a row ahead. my first one im trying has 3 dif colors all through it. so am i carrying two ?? do you always ch1? why with the base color did you not hide in back?
@TonyaBush is there a way to carry the yarn when doing foundation single crochet? If so- how do you work that in? In the meantime, i'm gonna wing it and see if I can report back with my jury-rigged approach! sidenote: I'm trying to do a houndstooth thing in several patches.
Ur tutorial is amazing🥰 i hate the fact though that i can see the other color through it... like even on a few sweaters ive bought from stores i hate seeing the second color lol idky... 🙄 tis my downfall with my trying tapestries
I know just what you mean Sarah! My perfectionist side always hates seeing it, too. If I can get away with it I will drop a color and pick it back up again if possible rather than carry it depending on the project - more intarsia style than tapestry. I will have to work on a tutorial for that! ❤️
Thanks for the nice video :-) Can someone explain to me why you always carry the aqua yarn all the way to the edge? Couldn't you just leave it hanging there an pick it back up when you need it, since you are not going to use the aqua until you are back in the same spot? Also, I just realized that I have always been doing "yarn under" and I had no idea that that was not the default ;-) oops
Depending upon your graph and project you may not have that dropped yarn available to pick up where you will need it again. This will end up creating a lot of additional ends to weave in at the end of your project as you bring in multiple strands of yarn to work your graph. If you are working in the round and it doesn't matter if you see yarn floats on the back of your work, you could drop your yarn and float it over to where you need it again. I also wouldn't recommend carrying yarn for just portions of the project as this will affect the look of your finished item - thickness will vary depending on carrying/not carrying sections as well as the overall color of the project will be different because you do end up with some color "bleed" from carrying yarn. I hope that makes sense! 😊
I use an online service called Stitch Fiddle to create my graphs. I have a tutorial on how to use it here: ruclips.net/video/EPBTVrCZouk/видео.html I hope you find it helpful! 🌸💕
If you will be continuing to use the color from row 1 then yes. If no then I would drop it and pull it back into your work once you need it again. I hope that helps!
