- I picked this 70s chrysler snow runner snow cycle up during the summer at a motorcycle show called rice o rama, its been sitting for over 40 years and it shows, lets get it up on the bench and see how it was built and if we can bring it back to life. then we crashed it broke it and parked it, now we have some snow again and bought some parts. lets see if round 2 works out better,

Back in the 80’s, a friend had on of these in his garage. We tore it apart and strapped the engine in a western auto go cart. It wouldn’t burn the tires, but if you had a long enough stretch of pavement, I swear it would go 60 mph. We rode it until someone got hurt and the kids dad made us take it apart. Ahhhhh….. good times. Peace.
It’s also known as a West Bend 820 - it was a common class when I was racing karts in the 2000’s.
👍👍
If you stretch the chain you increase the pitch of the chain the pitch of te sprocket is fixed therefore you will wear out your sprocket and you will have to changethe sprocket and the chain
007 Mustie
Mustie looks like a child with a big ole smile on his face while riding his toy. I love it. Good wholesome fun.

Hilarious comment 😆
This video and the previous one about that vehicle was particularly enjoyable, thank you! I´m really hoping to see the Ski-Doo again getting finished.
Watched the first episodes, was intriguing, looking forward to this session.
Good morning from Canada ! I get my Mustie 1 fix at 6AM every Sunday morning, and it's a great start to my Sunday, every time ! No snow here in Winnipeg, very little this year.
Greetings from a fellow Winnipeger, living on the west coast. Enjoy Mustie1 as well.
👍👍👍👍
Pretty much the same, in Eastern Ontario. Whatever snow we had is long gone and, it's getting replaced by rain.
Beautiful morning in Montreal Canada 🇨🇦, but rain later today, long time subscriber.

Cool to see the sno-runner revisited. I completely forgot you busted the skid in the last video on it. Good on you for fixing it up again!
👍👍
Hello from Norway 🇳🇴 😀
Remaining young at heart, as long as possible.
Priceless. The fun at the end, with the quad and Lola - smart dog - and the snow. Brilliant as ever.
Mustie is easily one of the funiest guys to watch wrenching on castoff stuff others would scrap.
Another delightful Sunday night episode to watch.
Coffee and Mustie 1 in the morning is a great way to start the day.
Starbucks Veranda Blend & an Apple 🍎 Fritter...
Fun to ride to school back in the day.
I had the same problem with the chain slack in my snow runner I modified 2 Dodge roller lifters that I had laying around and it worked perfect.
Good morning everyone back to my childhood watching Mustie attempt again
U two are like big kids having too much fun 😁😁
Good to see it running!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
I have many issues and like yourself Darren i will deal with them another day or when someone qualified deals with them for me. Until then i will use your videos as my therapy sessions
Mustie try using a bicycle derailer gear you know the little sprocket and make a chain idler gear for the clutch chain drive . I did that on mine years ago and it worked great.
Glad to see this thing is back for round too it a 😎 cool little ride 👍
Starting my day here in Washington state with Musti1 and my coffee.
Off to a good start.
you are a national treasure, love these vids, thank you
Wisconsin USA here. Bratwurst omelette, coffee, and Mustie this morning!
Good Mornin' Mr. Mustie! Thanks for another good one!
Great job Darren, looks like a fun project ,glad you got it done..
Just started the video. I was thinking okay, let’s make an aluminum rear ski! This thing is awesome!
Great job! That little unit is a real go getter!
I like that trike your friend has reminds me of the one i had as a kid
The body hammer 🔨 gets me every time 😂
Afternoon mate
Now that was a real Mustie vlog - just like the old days
C'mon Mustie your a talented guy you should be able to MacGyver a idler for that thing!
ANTRIM, NORTHERN IRELAND In for the weekly fix of Mustie1. That machine was in terrible condition first (1st) time around. Nice to see it back for resuscitation. Stay safe and enjoy everyone.
Just something out of the ordinary your friend looks like my step father did 59 years ago, I was shocked when I saw his face my stepdad's name was Jack Sutliff he was also related to the Sutcliff family , both French/Canadian, it was just uncanny.
Cool to see a comeback on this.
Oh i had to laugh out load, another Great video Mustie 1. Don, CA.
I was saying..."use the chain to rotate the shaft when grinding the shaft"....good to see you're listening....lol
Good afternoon! Greetings from Luleå, Sweden 🇸🇪
I read a good story on Hagerty automotive history. Lee Iacocca engineered the snow runner. Its flaw was a restrictive exhaust that cut the 8 hp down to seven .
St. Louis Missouri Robert. Looks like the most dangerously happy fun any human could experience in our trying times! God Bless you truly. Be My Friend.
Love that little thing, it's like a 2-stroke moped for the snow. If I had an appetite for snow, that would be my kind of vehicle... but I don't like being cold :p
Good day Mustie, I never seen this old style of snow runner before,
Can’t believe how good it works
The putting around for shits and giggles -part is always fun to watch!😁
I had a thought when you showed the worn off plastic from the broken original track guide. It would be cool if you could configure a hyfax from a modern snowmobile track to work on your new guide. Hyfax are dense plastic "C" shaped sacrificial strips that protect the aluminum rails from contacting the steel lugs in the track. They might provide a much improved life span for your new guide.
Your friend has a nice T4 camper van 👍🇬🇧
Enjoyed this update on this snow runner bro. Safe travels. Ken.
There's a hole with a witness mark behind the chain, I'd be tempted to make an idler to fit in there if you can't find another sprocket.
That hoop toy! My neighbours kids "had" one, my dog saw it, liked it and stole it! 😂
👍👍
Thank you for sharing.👍
Great video Thank you for sharing 😀
Awesome I was wondering if you were going to finish this unit and here you are getting it done thanks for the update and this very enjoyable video six stars brother
Good morning from Bucks County Pennsylvania! Enjoy the video! Coffee, blueberry muffin and Mustie, doesn’t get much better than that.
Yummy!
Outstanding and awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
He always finds the coolest stuff.
Maybe you could put an idler bearing on that stud that’s in the middle of the primary chain , like a rubber pulley with a little bearing in it to keep tension on that chain. Good fun in the snow 😁
Try pulling the clutch, you might be surprised that instead of a bushing it has a needle bearing. Back in the day late 60's we ran our mini bikes, with small B & S engines with the bushing clutches. But our Mc Cullough & West Bend engined mini bikes had to have that style clutch. Because of the high rpm's and extra hp also the heat it had to have a needle bearing to hold up. We would cook a standard mini bike clutch in a hour.
That goes really well great video Mustie 👍👌
you know I was a little teary when I saw you playing with a yellow lab.... I remember....
What happened to LIly?
@@Taydrum she passed- I think just because of her age
Thanks for getting back to this. I wondered and then I forgot about it, LOL. Although you must have filmed this months ago.
The Mustie1 video I didn't know I needed or expected, that was awesome! I'm so glad you revisited this project and gave it a new lease on life, thought for sure that thing had gone to Sno-Runner heaven. Lucky to find NOS parts I think. Really fun video and the doggy play time at the end was pretty wholesome. Definitely do a joint venture in the future, keep up the great work!
Try using a big set of channel locks and squeeze the chain together to stretch the chain. I think there should be a part 3 where Mustie1 puts a V8 on it. lol🤣 Thanks bro great video.
I always wanted one of these as they combine my love of weird snow machines and mopeds. (I have a Bolens Hus-Ski 444 which is also a lot of fun
)
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you, Mustie, you made my day. In the first video I thought, "You gonna fall bro!", then today I thought this is going be the day, but alas you managed foil Loki and some other gods of fate. Take care, don't want to hear you got hurt. I will hold prayer meetings each Sunday from 1pm to 3pm until you return :-)
👍👍
Watching from NC, good luck with the chain for your snow scratcher!
Triumphant return of the Sno-thingy. I bet they had a 2-story tall machine that squeezed those bearings in place!
Gotta Love it! At the end of the day you're allowed to have fun. Right on!!!
GOOD AFTERNOON from WALES 🏴
Is all about the ride/ rewards every project gives Darren back after the time & effort invested. The process ?? Well, is our gain in knowledge & distraction.
Living on the edge !
And one more time we go from 60 something going on 10 keep us all young Darren
Wow, more snow in NH. Not out of the ordinary I suppose. Mustie's body hammer is the constant, like Shango's green sweater.
Good morning
yay!!! best way to spend a sunday morning!
Had a model when I was a kid. Top Fuel Dragster (Don Garlits style). And the rear wheels were Snowmobile Tracks. Front wheels were front ski's LOL. It was a beaute. LOL Orange. Thats New York for you.
Hi , you think you have a problem no snow ⛄️ since we retired 11 years ago here in southern Spain not 1 flake of snow, plenty of SUNSHINE ☀️ BUT hey ho can’t complain, love the videos 😊 more please 🙏
Hello from the Oregon coast! love me some Mustie!
Excellent video Mustie 1 :) also nice Justin let drive Sno Runner on his property too also think a metal idler one gear or belt pulley on bearing use on vechile or Rottiller or lawn tractor would bolt up in hole on work ! If put cover over top too should work and hopefully that help ! Also super job did to it!
