Nomura recently said in an interview with Young Jump (a Japanese magazine) that he sees Quadratum as a “fake reality set in reality.” Add that to the list of Versus XIII parallels.
Man, if Nomura does his "fantasy based on reality" for good in KH4, I acknowledge him forever. Especially if we really get versus 13 story, through verum rex. Maybe we get all of this KH4. After that, he can take his retirement for good after Ff7 trilogy remake done
FFXV for me is two fold, It was the last thing my mom bought me for a Christmas / birthday gift when I couldn't afford the deluxe edition. I put x amount down and she paid the rest for me as my birthday falls in the same month as when FFXV was released. She told me it would be the above as a combo gift. I then lost her a year later in the same month in 2017, so every time I hear, "Walk tall, my son." I cry every time! It's also, really the first Final Fantasy I can love as my own with no men romantically attached and those feelings. My first two Final Fantasy games I were give was from my first love, FFVII and FFVIII, he got me on the band wagon and a memory I will always cherish from him... This just happened to be really the game that made me love FF all over again and remember my mom, her frustrations with me playing the franchise, and one of the last times we even hung out and she just chilled out with me and asked to watch me play with no explanations.
Playing ff15 as someone was hungry to get into the FF series is melancholic experience. It was hard to not notice how incomplete the game was. Like reading a book meant to be a long standing trilogy stripped to a single novel. You see the build up and yet it all concluded so prematurely you can do nothing but mourn the subplots, arcs, and character development that is painstakingly and noticeably missing. We were left with a ghost of a greater game and for that i will continue to hold the stance that it needs to be remade to completion. But that will never happen.
Sometimes I still think about that Noctis and Stella battle... That few seconds of they facing each other have more stories to tell than Noctis and Luna had in the whole game.
It’s taken several years for me to come to terms with the changes and troubled development, the removal of Tetsuya Nomura, and all the drama. It’s been a roller coaster for me, I had been introduced to the world of square and jrpgs with kingdom hearts, so as I wait for kh3, XV was my most anticipated game and was looking like my dream game especially with the initial concept of Noctis being the icing on the cake. So with Kh3 being everything I needed it to be, especially the ReMind version, the thing that eased my pain was seeing Yozora and very clearly Versus XIII elements in KH’s future, this was the best thing that could have occurred. The vision is still alive and added to a series Nomura has full control over, I even like the potential of this MORE than Versus XIII because Nomura can actually use Noctis and FFXV in the Kh world and put his own spin on things because that’s literally what he’s always done with the series. Imagine Yozora, Noctis, and Riku interacting, yeah this is the new dream for me. I can live with FF XV being its own thing, and I can enjoy it now without bitterness. Also Nomura being in directorial roles with the super ambitious and successful remake trilogy of the most iconic Final Fantasy entry is such a fat W I can’t help but smile and be happy for the man he’s earned all this.
The thing you said at 15:00 really touched me. So much went wrong with Versus XIII, but i hope that Nomura can somehow do the things he wanted to do with the game somewhere in the future. Fantastic video dude, absolutely amazing.
Going straight into my versus xiii playlist! Excellent vid man. How are we supposed to let go when almost ince a year theres something in the industry that deeply reminds or references us back to the figure that still lies asleep in the fantasy...
When i first saw the original teaser I can't tell you how excited I was. I was under the impression we were still getting that game until I started playing it.
FFXV has great characters, plot and lore. But the game doesn't even scratch the surface of those aspects. *SPOILERS* Luna dies, but the player doesn't care because we don't have enough attachment to her. King Regis, but the player doesn't care for the same reason. Insomnia is destroyed, but the player doesn't care because we don't spend enough time there. In fact, it's 0 minutes. We don't know nothing about the city, about the people that lived there, we have no reason to care for all those people, for that city... The game has an epic lore, but the game simply does NOT tell that tale. Unless you read the ultimania, you have nothing about the lore, aside from what Episode Ardyn tells us during a exposition dump in a very small portion of the DLC. The world map feels empty, and every location feels looks and feels the same. Combat is broken, you never game over as long as you have potions. It's either too easy, "hold circle button down to get through", or get one shot, and use potion, repeat. The Royal Edition/DLCs help the game a bit, but unfortunately, the game cannot be completely transformed. I played the day one version, and the Royal Edition with the DLCs, and I mean... I like the characters, the concept of the lore, the themes going on, but the game itself is hard to call it good. The greatest crime was the total change on the Leviathan section in Altissia. The trailer from E3 2013 was showing us an epic moment, and we got none of that. - _Oh, you can grasp a little bit of this and that about the characters if you watch the anime and Kingsglaive._ Oh, shut up. That should had been in the game somehow. The amount of money they spent on making that movie and that anime, the could've put into the actual game.
A lot of the story was buried in the optional content - the manuscripts you could find in-game and the movie and anime series, outside of the game. Plus, Pitios Dungeon gave some context clues for Ardyn's story, as well. FinalFantaayPeasant has a very interesting YT video about that dungeon.
FFXV really is special. It’s one of those games people will hate on passing but when they pick it up even with all the flaws in our faces, we still love it. It just has so much charm and getting to know the boys, it really makes us care. The main theme Somnus and the ending will never not make me tear up.
I'll never be able to mourn what FFXV could have been. It's a game that, despite its flaws, I keep very close to my heart (enough to platinum it twice). I think about it every time I come across my boxed copy of the game, and I can't help but wonder how successful the game would have been if only it had been able to get rid of the flaws that were the result of 10 years of chaotic development. What it could have been.
I still love the story of FFXV and its world and characters will Forever stay with me, but man if the story was this good how it is now, then imagine how it would be if it had the full vision
No. IT IS WHAT MUST BE. Long live the Versus Epic. An Oath to Return. I feel Versus shall actually come one day, even if it is Nomura's last game. Nomura has openly said VERSUS was "his baby" and even cried years later when he drew Noctis for NT. Something awful happened and Nomura will NEVER let it go. I openly demanded Tabata's firing upon release, and besides all the fake VS fans attacks, he WAS fired. And Noctis' mother's name was Aurelia. Securing a copy of the final script is both a curse and a blessing. Because it IS the greatest RPG of all time. It reads like a movie script. 3 games, total. Based Roberto Ferrari.
Personally I cannot let versus xiii go at this rate. FF XV for all purposes existed just to be rushed out of the door and one of the companies biggest blunders of all time. Seriously Versus XIII noctis to me is the true noctis and the ffxv one is square enix managements version of him. Final fantasy versus xiii has to be the greatest game that no one played yet people got inspired by it from soul lost aside to raynatis to square enix own final fantasy xvi due to the battle system and Clive doing warp strikes. That alone is worth a study how can a game that was “scrapped” and a bunch of trailers influenced game devs despite not being released.
@OmegaKatanaXIII naah man ffxv still stands strong. If Tabata was given the time Nomura had, it would have been a better project. Tabata scrapped the experimental stuff and made what he could with the little time he had, and his team suffered due to square's decision. A longer development hell and then the project shutting down is deserved by you lots ik. Luckily it turned out to be decent. Lacking, Surely! Because it was split so much into different media, but still the toil could be felt. The sleepless hours in development could be felt in game. It's an art piece. Versus 13 would have been trash musical, versus 13 if Tabata would have taken it long ago would have been amazing! Look at KH4 😂 Nomura sure loves to drag a project
@@NutBuster99 Still stands seriously bro are you all right have you even played the game? Empty spaces everywhere, undeveloped characters and story to the point anybody cared about it. Even on its tenth anniversary square enix barely noticed the game or besides a tweet or two like they want to forget about compared to Final Fantasy VII or FF X (it had a play recently in Japan).
Wow, great way to explain your feeling in the end. Very spot on. Funny enough I was sitting here wondering why I love FF15 so much, and that explanation is part of the reason
You are absolutely right, I can't talk about FF XV without admitting that I hate what it isn't. I can say, I don't hate the game I just hate the greedy company that split it beyond recognition. I can never play Royal edition because I was a day 1 player who play something lesser than a demo, and then they wanted more money for a "complete edition". I did play the dlcs years later (I think it was gamepass) but replaying it from start to finish, was just too much so that's all I did.
It carzy how much impact a game that was never released had of Final fantasy franchise i heard that the same team that made kingdom hearts 2 was also going to make it
Finally, someone that shares my pain....the sting from what this game could have been to what it ended up being will never go away for me. Regardless, I remain hopeful that someday the true vision of FF versus 13 will be transferred to a new game or a remake of FF 15. Square would be absolutely remedial to not try and restart this IP...
I think Final fantasy 15 having all of the other media content was Square enix’s attempt in trying to expand the lore of a final fantasy game without having to rely on sequels given how FF13 turning into a trilogy became a controversial decision but yeah I remember the days of the anticipation of FF15, it was literally the talk in my middle school and high school days.
This was a great video and something I have been thinking about for weeks. I enjoyed Final Fantasy XV when it initially came out but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this game could have been more. After playing all the DLC, the feeling was that all of that should have been in the game. I also disliked the fact that to get other info you had to watch an anime and see a CG movie. The world was interesting but it also felt so empty and incomplete. I personally would have wished that Lunafreya was a party member from the start, then her death would have maybe had some impact. This game is just an exercise in wasted potential and it’s a marvel that they STILL managed to deliver something quite enjoyable in some aspects. I will say this: no amount of linking FF Versus XIII to Verum Rex/Kingdom Hearts will make me play Kingdom Hearts IV or any Kingdom Hearts title ever again, but I am glad that Versus is finding a second home.
The hype cycle for FF16 and its release really taught me that as much as i may be hyped for something i will never know how good it is till i get my hands on it. I loooove FF16 but my expectations were heavily warped by the marketing.
I miss the boys. The music. The car drives. This game started out so great but you could see it was unfinished once you get to the left side of the world map. Overall I liked it more than XVI
Gut the game, rename the game, sell the guts, don't finish the game, release a mobile game & assassins creed festival DLC, sell cut content as DLC, don't finish the DLC, Buy coleman camping supplies, american express stickers in every window, consume cup noodle. Every facet of this game was a big F you to the consumer. There wasn't a single genuine moment in this game that wasn't cut apart and rushed to sell you a product.
I hope we'll get to see the story envisioned but recent Nomura interviews where he wants to retire sometime in the next 2 years I feel a lot of my hopes slowly dying
I just wanted to experience a game that was created efficiently, and not tease us for a decade and give us a game that was so different because those "teasers" were not even real-time gameplay footage. I moved on a long time ago. And I'm happy that square has learned its lesson with 16 and 7trilogy, aka give us real-time gameplay footages for trailers, and be as transparent as possible when it comes to the status of development. If nomura wants to do verum rex, or maybe remake ff15 as trilogy, by all means do it, but in the same efficient fashion as 16 development. If not, then okay, moving on.
Imagine playing Verum Rex in 2026-2028, 20-22 years after the reveal of Versus XIII in 2006. Crazy thoughts. I actually think spreading it out over three games would have done wonders. I say this because I personally did not like Final Fantasy XIII and its sequel, but by the time of Lightning Returns I did get a little nostalgic for the characters and by the end I thought it was wonderful that these characters that I did not like all that much came together to fight Bhunivelze and gave themselves a better future.
The thing I mourn most between Versus XIII trailers and the eventual XV release is the tone. There was something so grand and somber in the early trailers that just did not translate after they removed Etro, Lucis Caleum connections to demons, and the Stella fight from the game. Even if the plot skeleton is the same, it feels like they removed everything biting in favor of an overdone reluctant-hero doomed by fate narrative. Unfortunately, I think Nomura is to blame for all of this. He had 10 years to make the better game and ultimately did not, we can't expect Square to write a blank check for his projects. For all its faults, XV has one thing on VSXIII-- it came out.
I really enjoyed 15 a ton even know I didn’t know what the hell was going on at the time. The lack of clearly explaining the plot and lore was my only issue.
Altissia is one of the best, if not, THE BEST looking fictional city Ive ever seen, especially the water man, like boats going along their routes is beautifull
Great video. I remember being in highschool learning about this game in a game informer and obsessively reading the articles and then eventually watching the trailers. Its probably the only video game where i still watch the trailers every few years. 15 was honestly a huge disappointment for me because the whole time playing it i couldn't help but think "its gonna get better and the story is gonna pick up, right"? Big sigh. Also i fear that even tho the dna will definitely be in kh 4 and possibly verum rex if it even comes out, will be nowhere near the grand vision and scope that this original project was going to create. This is the biggest disappointment in square enix's history.
As someone who waited since 2006 for Versus and stood by it since it rebranded to XV (only to be faced with massive disappointment in the final product) I stand with Nomura and his salt over Versus XIII! Verum Rex is essentially Nomura being like, "Gimme back my son! Fine, I'll make a new son!" 🤣🤣🤣
You ever look into the history of Duke Nukem Forever? That shit is even wilder. Or at least I think so, we know a lot more of the behind the scenes of ol Duke than we do Versus XIII. Maybe it's just because of where the game was being developed. I do hope someday square makes a book or a movie about the development history someday.
For the trilogy idea, i would’ve liked the 3rd leg of story to play out like the Dawn of the future novel. That alternate story ties up character arks and end conflict waaaaaay better than the original story ever did.
I agree. It was actually my first final fantasy game and its still my personal favorite since I started playing the game series. I just loved the combat. Closest thing that feels like it is xenoblade but it really is its own thing.
This is how I feel about Fallout New vegas when I hear about all that they had to cut from it. VS XIII and New Vegas are imo the biggest tragedies in gaming. And XV and New vegas are still both good games, but imagine if they got to fully realize their repsective visions.
i feel like the only other time ive seen this phenomina occur is with Justice League 2016, and the resulting Snyder Cut movement and eventual release of said cut. i admit i went through a very similar process when it came to XV, i even replayed it recently after watching the final weapon video to try and view it as a time capsule of circumstances, i sadly ended up despising my experience as the game went on, coming to realise how......hollow the main story is while the dlcs feel like it includes context that doesnt come around till way later in the game. i do appreciate the fact it was out and was my first FF game to have ever be played, but like you i just cannot ignore what it once seemed to be, what was promised, hopefully one day we can truly be able to come to terms with XV once Verum Rex/KH4 comes out, though i admit my KH4 hype is drawn from the hope of Lightning joining the frey (due to the FNC allusions and nods to Cocoon in some of Quadratum's imagery) and the fact the only trailer we do have implies Star Wars to be a part of this coming experience/ (that forest is undoubtly endor and that metal by the river stream is clearly an AT-ST Foot.) one game has come close to potential satisfying that want of something like what was intended, that being reynatis. inspite of its low budget nature it certainly scratches that itch so far, and has clear allusions in inspiration to nomura's titles, cant help but respect that i admit. this overall is a great video articulating what i feel quite a few people went through in relation to FFXV-KH3, myself included, lets just hope Nomura will be able to deliver what was intended this time.
The Snyder cut was echoing through my mind a decent bit while I was making this video. It is interesting to see so many FFXV fans feel the same way towards the game. Especially now after what could have been becomes clearer and clearer every year. Glad I’m not the only one who finds it hard to return to this game I love. It would be cool if Lightning returns in KHIV. Didn’t even consider that possibility. Reynatis has been on my radar since the world ends with you colab was announced (I’m a big TWEWY fan) and I gotta check out the demo at some point. Another game with FFXV vibes that I’ve been looking forward to is Lost Soul Aside. It’s been in development for awhile at this point but it’s got potential. Glad you liked the video! At this point we can only hope Nomura’s vision sees the dawn.
That’s actually a perfect analogy. The themes and concepts of the original JL script were absent from the theatrical release and what we got instead was like we were just totally lied to in all the build up and hype for it in the last 3 films.
Let me say this final fantasy versus xiii has to be the greatest video game that never came out. There I said it why because it had potential for its story, setting, tone, characters and even the battle system. Also versus xiii believe it or not influenced other video games like soul lost aside to freaking raynatis despite versus xiii being scrapped someone should make a video on that topic one day! Despite final fantasy xv being released in its place I still await for the true king I mean final fantasy versus xiii to be released I don’t care if I have to wait years for it to come out one way or another.
Did you guys know The final fantasy xv storyboard the story of Nomura one picture Noct and Stella in childhood Noct give Stella the flower called moon flower ,flower language mean forever love
Vs13 is only a conceptual thing which is why it seems much more appealing and sexy. XV however did accomplish what v13 set out to be - the antithesis to 13. People forget that part. 13’s whole thing was about escaping fate which lightening did and by 13/3 they killed the gods forcing fate on the humans. XV is about accepting the fate the gods have laid for you. Noctis learns that in order to bring the light back, he’ll have to die and there’s no changing that. However, it’s when Ardyn talks to Bahamut when we learn that the plan is far more sinister. Noctis and Ardyn were poised to be sacrificial lambs. Ardyn was made to spread darkness intentionally. It’s the same story of 13 just handled differently by the main characters. I will say the theme of death that Nomura showed and wanted to show in v13 sounded more interesting.
I'm glad I didn't follow the development super closely. I am currently replaying this game and still really enjoy it. I get being bummed about the cut content. But the vibe of cruising with boys, is something special.
Funny how I just finished the Reynatis demo and saw this on my feed. I have a really soft spot for FFXV. A game that could've been VSXIII, and a game that could've been Dawn of the Future, it's like the game was destined to be unfinished. Really interesting concepts from both sides, never coming to fruition on-screen. Yet somehow I'm also fine with XV in how it is currently. I also loved the Kingsglaive movie and how it fleshed out the world a lot more through the eyes of Nyx Ulric, a soldier who was forced out of his home country as a child because his people were the only few that could wield the King's magic. Which I've been constantly thinking how it would've been a perfect tutorial section similar to Roxas' section in KH2. Whatever Nomura decides to do with KH4, I'll forever miss VSXIII but will keep looking forward to what he does with bits of his original concept
The algorithm works in mysterious ways some time. How was the demo? Been thinking about checking it out when I’m done with Persona 3 Reload. Going to honest I forgot Dawn to the Future came out. Really should give it a read at some point. At first I was worried that Nomura decided to do KHIV before Verum Rex. He made it sound like the plan always was Verum Rex first but changed. Wasn’t sure how that would change KHIV’s story if it was intended to be played after it. But thinking about it now I think it’s smart to get people into that world before making that game.
I'm sorry 15 was a utter waste of time incomplete, game play was disgusting, and personally not a fan of the boy band, oh and Lunafreya the complete an utter failure of Luna ridiculous give me Stella back!!!!!
I will always have huge respect for Tabata san for the outcome we got with FFXV knowing what a fucking shitshow the development was and him taking over a dumbster fire. Its an amazing game if you completely forget what it "wanted to be"
The only chance the Final Fantasy community has to make Final Fantasy Versus a reality is during this short period while Tetsuya Nomura is still active in the industry. Nomura is the only one who can realize Final Fantasy Versus the way it should have been almost two decades ago. If the entire community pressures Square Enix they won’t have any choice but to listen to us. If we refuse to support any future games that aren't Final Fantasy Versus, they will have no other option.
Yeah Square Enix needs to actually get their shit together when it comes to doing stuff like this where certain DLCs should have been part of the base game at release. Especially with Rising tides Final Fantasy XVI Leviathan should have been in the base game
I wanted to try FFXV again I can’t . I played the OG on release, I don’t played the dlc and I will never do i tried on the screen i couldn’t start as i heard Soumnus. I sounds dumb i can’t play this game ever again. I will see what KH4 bring me and i hope it helps me close that chapter 😅.
Welcome to our pain. I genuinely hate 15 and I wish I didn’t. It’s just a result of so much untapped potential and the lingering of “what we could have.” Tabata also didn’t make it easy. Like most, we await the true King.
Aye, Idk if y'all know Resident Evil history, but I was introduced to the RE franchise in 1997 from a January GamePro magazine. Shinji Mikami had an interview for the original RE2(now known as Resident Evil 1.5), and we never got to experience that game..... Til the development files were leaked, and we now have a bootleg emulation of what could have been. I say that to say this, imagine this happening for Versus XIII. Never say Never...
It really seems to me that versus was conceived at the same time as xiii and xiii wasn’t really received all that well so they pivoted to make something that appeals to a general audience to make up for xiiis shortcomings. It’s very obvious if you’ve watched kingsglave, the sheer amount of real life in universe brands in the ads shows square screwed over the vision and made 15 the mess it was.
i liked ff15 largely because i tend not to like ff games. I just took it as a road trip game since the story was rather 'eh'. I cared more about exploring the world and doing the cup noodle side quest than the rest of it. Aranea was probably the only character I really liked too. Feels like what we got was a game designed for non-ff players which is a shame.
Never say never... I mean no one expected for FF7 Remake and Shenmue 3 to happend in 2015? We are on the way for a 3rd final FF7 remake... Nowdays game engines are so developed and so far ahead that its a different take for developers on creating a potentional FFV13 than what it was back then. They might surprise you when you atleast expect it, thats how they do it these days, things has changed alot. We might get a twist from KH4 that leads or connects to a alternative reality/timeline in to the world of FFV13..... who knows... Its Nomura afterall ! :)
Final Fantasy 15, like Final Fantasy 13, had so much potential, but Square made bad choices that most would see as common sense in not to do's. They cut content like the Leviathan battle and the battle during the insomnia invasion. Combat was watered down, magic grenades were lame af, item use in combat was broken and unrestricted, giant boss fights were also terrible. You can't even compare the Adamatoise fight in 15 to 13's. The invasion and downfall of the Empire of Niflhiem being destroyed behind the scenes and Intel of its downfall being explained by notes on the floor was embarrassing. After the Royale edition, I can give the game a 6.5
@@someguy_matt The game was originally intended as a prequel to MGS4, aiming to tell a dark story about how Raiden got captured by the Patriots and turned into a cyborg. It was planned as a stealth-focused game with a unique mechanic called "Hunting Stealth," where players would prey on their enemies, plan the attack, and then swiftly take them down. The story was written by Etsu Tamari and directed by Mineshi Kimura. It was also set to use the brand-new FOX engine, which was being developed alongside the game. Here’s the original trailer, released around 2010: ruclips.net/video/W0gpSEBVcCg/видео.htmlsi=C0UnRbX8SSH0yxQO
To be honest it would be kind of an interesting gambit by Nomura if FFXIII ended up coming to life through KH4, considering that half the reason it never saw the light of day was that it's "fantasy based on reality" premise got it gradually butchered to fit the chinese market until it essentially became a husk of a game.
It wasn't XIII-2 and LR that's doomed Versus XIII, it was Yosuke Matsuda wanting Final Fantasy VII Remake. If you don't like those games, fine, but let's stop trying to blame it on them when in reality by the time of XIII-2, it was also FFXIV that was the real reason for why V13 got gutted and ultimately why certain people were in positions to make the decisions that led to XV's cut and changed content. That's the only gripe I really have with this, because trying to gripe about them is an exercise in futility considering everything else going on during that time. Also, reminder that Luna was never in Nomura's XV, let alone Versus XIII. She was created to replace Stella and nothing more, the creators of her character were very candid about that.
I bought the ps4 just for xv, I hated everything about it, I hated the side quests, I hated the combat, I found it extremely pointless, I hated the characters, I hated the world which seemed like a tribute or a parody rather than a game in itself (but it seems you love that), not to mention the loading times (I'm sure you can get better in current devices, but back then!) making fast travel useless... and then I decided, after loving every final fantasy since ff4 when I was very young, that this game was nothing like that and that I didn't need to like it... I'm glad somebody does, for me it was the end of what I grew up with as final fantasy it stands out to me as one of the few games I disliked so much I couldn't keep playing, let along finish, not only I think it's the worst final fantasy, but I think it's pretty much the game I hate the most of all games ever as to what 13 could have been, to this day I don't know what is it that people dislike so much about it, I replayed it a few times, I even replayed 13-2, I really like both... today we want so much content around IP, but for the standards of those times, it was as big as story as any we'd have heard with a good world and characters I personally felt good about lightning returns is whatever, but I guess it doesn't really count for me to each their own but I'm glad none of the 15 stuff touched my dear 13
Trying to find it now and all I can find on RUclips is a short comparing it with the one from the game. Looking on google I found another creator reacting to the footage. Seems like square has done a good job wiping it from the internet.
The sad part is that you KNOW a) that all the footage from the orignal versus, since 2006 were makeable i mean, the game concepts just look like a small action jrgp with stuff from kingdom hearts and type 0 or crisis core, and lots of cgi cutscenes, if they made it like that but with ps3 graphics the game would have been amazing, and b) after Kingdom Hearts 2 you know the story under Nomura would have been creepy, criptic and fun, is that simple, even the stuff they showed in 2013 was nothing other studios in the industry weren´t doing, many parts could have been CGI, so what was the problem? lack of planning and maybe Square-Enix just can´t make big games like ubisoft or naughty dog, so they should have kept their small but sure jrpg formula but with pretty graphics, presentation, great gameplay and epic story and call it a day like the rest of jrpg makers in japan, many of the ideas in the FFXV game were good but bad implemented because there was a lack of vision, they tried to be a jack of all trades and master of nothing, and that never works, is sad when missed opportunities happens

It's still a flawed game bro. I'm gonna say it for everyone, I sympathize but your sob story doesn't change anything.
FFXV was the best incomplete demo of a game I've ever played
Crazy how they worked on a tease for Kingdom Hearts IV for 10 years.
@someguy_matt final fantasy versus xiii original was lot better than 15
@dytgyfgyffuh243 dude there was not even a vs 13. It was all concept. Stop the hyperbole
Still better than FFXVI.
Sometimes I still think about that Noctis and Stella battle... That few seconds of they facing each other have more stories to tell than Noctis and Luna had in the whole game.
i've always been a V13 truther. still in mourning and awaiting the true king's revival
Same here waiting until that time comes.
I am digging those Versus 13 videos so hard I love it
I still think about living in another dimension and play FFV13…
It's depressing to think that we're all gonna die and never play Versus 13. Imagine the alternate universe
Versus xiii was a complete mystery still despite xv being released that’s how much impact it had on gamers.
I need FF Versus XIII
When i first saw the original teaser I can't tell you how excited I was. I was under the impression we were still getting that game until I started playing it.
this game shook me and mentally showed me something I never thought I'd ever experience.
FFXV has great characters, plot and lore. But the game doesn't even scratch the surface of those aspects.
*SPOILERS*
Luna dies, but the player doesn't care because we don't have enough attachment to her.
- _Oh, you can grasp a little bit of this and that about the characters if you watch the anime and Kingsglaive._
Oh, shut up. That should had been in the game somehow. The amount of money they spent on making that movie and that anime, the could've put into the actual game.
Only problem I had was 15 was its story. I felt like it was extremely rushed. But I have so much love for this game for sure
I feel like the frame for FF versus is being added to kingdom hearts. Not all of it but at least key parts
I feel that so much. Every time I see it I always end up thinking “what could have been.”
I enjoyed FFXV for what it was, and have rose tinted glasses for anything Final Fantasy, but damn. We could have been eating good
I still love the story of FFXV and its world and characters will Forever stay with me, but man if the story was this good how it is now, then imagine how it would be if it had the full vision
That alone is worth a study how can a game that was “scrapped” and a bunch of trailers influenced game devs despite not being released.
yeah blame tabata. lmao. Nomura took way too much time. from development hell to making v13 a musical. lol . lol.
@@NutBuster99you still believe in the music part despite many people saying it’s a Mistranslation enjoy your broken games man.
I forgot Noctis and Stella was supposed to fight; man, that would've been sick
Wow, great way to explain your feeling in the end. Very spot on.
Funny enough I was sitting here wondering why I love FF15 so much, and that explanation is part of the reason
Versus 13 looked utterly amazing.
Still does to this very freaking day.
Versus XIII Noctis is still the Noctis I think about when I hear his name.
That noctis was still a mystery what was he liked and he wasn’t ffxv noctis or Clive that’s for sure.
Did you enjoy the DLC? Personally I think they got better as they went on but peaked with Ignis’.
It carzy how much impact a game that was never released had of Final fantasy franchise i heard that the same team that made kingdom hearts 2 was also going to make it
I will never recover from this loss. They just gotta redo everything and IF done right we are looking at goty.
Same here bro I couldn’t let it go I basically grew up with it to the point it became apart of me.
Dude I need a livestream of you talking about Versus XIII/XV
I’m down for more versus xiii material myself.
I wish that we had the original story of final fantasy versus xiii
7:06 yeah the opening attack on the city is very important i want to play that is was very excited and fun
Actually insane that this has been in development for basically 20 years
The hype cycle for FF16 and its release really taught me that as much as i may be hyped for something i will never know how good it is till i get my hands on it. I loooove FF16 but my expectations were heavily warped by the marketing.
Ok I didn't see the part where the game is only a THIRD of the whole story excuse me WHAT
I miss the boys.
I want to play that Versus 13 build the devs of Reynatis got to play when they Nomura.
Same here Mr Asobe the creator of raynatis actual spoke with Nomura and even let them use twewy Neo characters.
It’s rare that JRPGs follow the same cast. I find moments hit a lot harder after the player has a history with the characters outside of one game.
Shout out to Final Weapon. He did a badass job with that video
Final Weapon's video was a huge reason why I made this. I needed to write my thoughts about everything that happened after watching it.
I’m with you my friend I cannot let it go I wanted to get to know vsxiii noctis and want to get invested in that games world.
I wished that happened but square enix will never ever let that happen.
For the trilogy idea, i would’ve liked the 3rd leg of story to play out like the Dawn of the future novel. That alternate story ties up character arks and end conflict waaaaaay better than the original story ever did.
I wonder if Dawn of the Future is purely original or if it uses some beats from Versus XIII. Sadly we’ll never get an answer.
the disapointment of when i discovered during the finale of the game that there wasn't stella
And XV and New vegas are still both good games, but imagine if they got to fully realize their repsective visions.
i feel like the only other time ive seen this phenomina occur is with Justice League 2016, and the resulting Snyder Cut movement and eventual release of said cut.
i admit i went through a very similar process when it came to XV, i even replayed it recently after watching the final weapon video to try and view it as a time capsule of circumstances, i sadly ended up despising my experience as the game went on, coming to realise how......hollow the main story is while the dlcs feel like it includes context that doesnt come around till way later in the game.
i do appreciate the fact it was out and was my first FF game to have ever be played, but like you i just cannot ignore what it once seemed to be, what was promised, hopefully one day we can truly be able to come to terms with XV once Verum Rex/KH4 comes out, though i admit my KH4 hype is drawn from the hope of Lightning joining the frey (due to the FNC allusions and nods to Cocoon in some of Quadratum's imagery) and the fact the only trailer we do have implies Star Wars to be a part of this coming experience/ (that forest is undoubtly endor and that metal by the river stream is clearly an AT-ST Foot.)
one game has come close to potential satisfying that want of something like what was intended, that being reynatis. inspite of its low budget nature it certainly scratches that itch so far, and has clear allusions in inspiration to nomura's titles, cant help but respect that i admit.
this overall is a great video articulating what i feel quite a few people went through in relation to FFXV-KH3, myself included, lets just hope Nomura will be able to deliver what was intended this time.
If he is retiring in a few years, considering how long it takes for SE games to be made and come out we may never get Verum Rex
It's been years and I still haven't moved on from Versus XIII and it seems Nomura hasn't either.
Your not the only one either I can’t let it go either.
Did you guys know The final fantasy xv storyboard the story of Nomura one picture Noct and Stella in childhood Noct give Stella the flower called moon flower ,flower language mean forever love
thx for making this.. this game should have been a masterpiece
What a nice video !
nomura REALLY wanted to make VS13
I’m just wanting to experience versus xiii to the point that it can be a manga or even a freaking novel at this rate.
I would hope that someday they would be interested in reworking FFXV.
ReviveFFXV!!!
I would have loved to see what the game would have been like with the Crystal Tools engine if they hadn't used that on FF13.
I'm glad I didn't follow the development super closely. I am currently replaying this game and still really enjoy it. I get being bummed about the cut content. But the vibe of cruising with boys, is something special.
Dont dont do this to me, dont remind me of the pain
Good video
Speaking of raynatis I’m playing that game and I’m enjoying it more than I should have.
I'm sorry 15 was a utter waste of time incomplete, game play was disgusting, and personally not a fan of the boy band, oh and Lunafreya the complete an utter failure of Luna ridiculous give me Stella back!!!!!
Feel your pain bro versus xiii shoulda been released.
I will always have huge respect for Tabata san for the outcome we got with FFXV knowing what a fucking shitshow the development was and him taking over a dumbster fire. Its an amazing game if you completely forget what it "wanted to be"
Plsss make it happen the real Final fantasy 15 2013 e3 announcement trailer!
The devs put some effort in insomnia to bad the players can’t see it do to the invisible walls/small map
There is a way to glitch out of the map to see the city but I’m not sure how. There’s videos online of people exploring it.
Welcome to our pain. I genuinely hate 15 and I wish I didn’t. It’s just a result of so much untapped potential and the lingering of “what we could have.” Tabata also didn’t make it easy.
Like most, we await the true King.
Best FF FFXV and V13 change my mind
Aye, Idk if y'all know Resident Evil history, but I was introduced to the RE franchise in 1997 from a January GamePro magazine. Shinji Mikami had an interview for the original RE2(now known as Resident Evil 1.5), and we never got to experience that game..... Til the development files were leaked, and we now have a bootleg emulation of what could have been. I say that to say this, imagine this happening for Versus XIII. Never say Never...
I had no idea that was even a thing. Definitely have to look into it sounds super interesting.
FFXV is still my favorite ff of all time.
the big thing I dont like about modern ff is the soundtracks.
I didnt notice 15s soundtrack
i would love a FF 15 remake. just imagine that!
I would freak out if they announced a remake and called it Versus XV
I made it up.
we can still get a XV Remake for ps7 directed by Nomura
There was no need to dig all this back up :(
I let go of all of this years ago.
i liked ff15 largely because i tend not to like ff games. I just took it as a road trip game since the story was rather 'eh'. I cared more about exploring the world and doing the cup noodle side quest than the rest of it. Aranea was probably the only character I really liked too.
Feels like what we got was a game designed for non-ff players which is a shame.
I’m a Versus 13 truther too
Never say never...
After the Royale edition, I can give the game a 6.5
Im not a FF fan or ever played it but this looks like how i feel about MGS:R which was canned and we got MGR:R instead.
What was MGS:R going to be before they turned it into MGS:R? Didn’t know it went through something similar
This poor fucking game, we were waiting since like 06
It wasn't XIII-2 and LR that's doomed Versus XIII, it was Yosuke Matsuda wanting Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Came for the content, stayed for the cute guy :)
I'm glad somebody does, for me it was the end of what I grew up with as final fantasy
it stands out to me as one of the few games I disliked so much I couldn't keep playing, let along finish, not only I think it's the worst final fantasy, but I think it's pretty much the game I hate the most of all games ever
as to what 13 could have been, to this day I don't know what is it that people dislike so much about it, I replayed it a few times, I even replayed 13-2, I really like both... today we want so much content around IP, but for the standards of those times, it was as big as story as any we'd have heard with a good world and characters I personally felt good about
lightning returns is whatever, but I guess it doesn't really count for me
to each their own but I'm glad none of the 15 stuff touched my dear 13
Where can I find this Verum Rex trailer with Versus XIII models?!? I need to see it!
Trying to find it now and all I can find on RUclips is a short comparing it with the one from the game. Looking on google I found another creator reacting to the footage. Seems like square has done a good job wiping it from the internet.
I think Nomura will move Noctis from versus xiii to Yozora
I’m not ruling out that Yozora is Noctis. Unlikely but it could happen.
@@someguy_mattnobody knows Nomura planning do what
The sad part is that you KNOW a) that all the footage from the orignal versus, since 2006 were makeable i mean, the game concepts just look like a small action jrgp with stuff from kingdom hearts and type 0 or crisis core, and lots of cgi cutscenes, if they made it like that but with ps3 graphics the game would have been amazing, and b) after Kingdom Hearts 2 you know the story under Nomura would have been creepy, criptic and fun, is that simple, even the stuff they showed in 2013 was nothing other studios in the industry weren´t doing, many parts could have been CGI, so what was the problem? lack of planning and maybe Square-Enix just can´t make big games like ubisoft or naughty dog, so they should have kept their small but sure jrpg formula but with pretty graphics, presentation, great gameplay and epic story and call it a day like the rest of jrpg makers in japan, many of the ideas in the FFXV game were good but bad implemented because there was a lack of vision, they tried to be a jack of all trades and master of nothing, and that never works, is sad when missed opportunities happens
No. You replay that game.
