I played the first movement for my grade 8 and my A level practical and more recently at a school concert and it is a fantastic piece. Thankfully we have a professional accompanist at school because from what I hear, the piano part is ferocious!

I played the first movement in 2 concerts earlier in the year. I absolutely love the piece! Awesome job of it. I also had great difficulty finding a pianist.

Love the bit where it alternates between 3/4 and 6/8 - really wish I could play it like this!

The 2nd movt. is very beautiful with good intonation and air flow. The 3rd is very well played with the fast runs. If you start slightly softer, you have more space to move with the music and build the intensity. There is a common misconception that if something is hard and really fast to play, that it naturally gets played loud, this is not the case.
Thank you for posting this video, I enjoyed it very much. :)

Stunning. Great performance. I always like to tail off the phrases more in the second movement, but it's personal preference :)

Thank you! Dynamics is bad because of the camera sound balancing. In the middle movement I didn't have problems with breathing, but I agree it's difficult...

Thanks! Breathing is difficult in the second movement, but you can't break phrases with breath... I can't play without body movement :-)

Wonderful, full overtone profile sound that carries nicely but doesn't overmatch the piano. Clear fccus and fine legato. For other clarinetists out there, can you say what mouthpiece and clarinet set-up (brands and mdels) you were using in this recording?

Thank you. I did tail off the phrases, please read my previous comments... ;)

good balance in sound and very well played. Part II bit more romantic? but that's a kind of taste. Where is this played, in Budapest musicschool?

Ah yes, sorry!! :P Well done again and congratulations to your pianist as I know how hard that is to accompany after playing it for a student's exam recently!!

I played this this year for solo and ensemble. You are better than I am though haha. I feel dumb

You have a good, strong tone with excellent finger technique. Although the timing is not always constant and tends to rush as is the tendency to do with this piece because it requires the energy. Perhaps more dynamics would improve this performance with phrasing and cresc. etc to the 1st and 2nd movt.

I don't know this version for solo and ensemble. Can you show it please?

Very good, and the body movement is OK as long as it doesn't affect playing in a bad way, which it doesn't. And well done on the middle movement! Just some hints though, make more of the dynamics. It might be the recording, but it would make the music slightly better. And maybe more accents in the outer movements? And finally, the middle movement could move a bit more which could help with your breathing? Good piece though. Keep up the good work!

it's the same arrangement and everything. I just mean that I played it for a contest

Thanks. As I said, dynamics is bad because of the camera sound balancing.
