Your videos have really helped me be less afraid of urban sketching and just drawing people in general. Watching how you evaluate space & proportions in a simple way has helped me loosen up in my sketches which makes drawing less intimidating and more fun so thank you!
I like the way you simplify the head. The way of not connecting the lines. I think I get it but it will be useful if you do a tutorial on simplified heads.
You are so simple in your tutorials and I have found this to an absolutely amazing help. Thanks so much? Can you include some sketches of nature and wildlife in your tutorials? I am into nature journaling and your method of capturing silhouettes quickly would make it an excellent approach to capture nature quickly. Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion Yilma! That is a great idea. I have a few videos like that I would like to make in future like drawing buildings and animals👍🏼
It's just wonderful! It's so interesting to watch the unbreakable line. There is no construction, there is only one line) and there is such lightness in your sketches that you want to consider them 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks a lot ☀️
I love your style💗❤💞💖💘. I'm getting watercolor Saturday. I'm gonna practice this for 1 month strait. I'm gonna practice on sketch paper just the silhouette and when I get better I will do it in a nice book like you have with watercolor color. I can't wait!!! Thanks so much for your vids they are very calming like your voice. I hope you have a great life creating beautiful art.
Thanks! Yes I have started to sketch outdoors and am hoping to make a video about my experience soon. Eventually I plan to make it a regular part of my upload schedule to cover different topics 👍🏼
Your videos are helpful. I personally enjoy the not over technical explanations. However, I just can't get the width of shoulder right! I draw a basic ok head, but when I try place the outside shoulder/upper arm , it is pure luck if it is in proportion height or width to head/neck I've just drawn. Any advise?
Good question. For a man in front view, I start from the side of the head and go across one head width to find the side of the shoulder (A woman would be roughly 1/2 a head width across). So the total width of the body is roughly 3 head widths(2 to 2.5 heads for a woman). I also go down from the chin roughly 1/3 of the height of the head to find the top of the shoulder. These are very basic measurements that I have in the back of my mind as I sketch and it all depends on the person but I find it helps to start with these. As the pose changes from front view I have to guess a bit. If you want to explore other methods you could try drawing a mannequin with pencil to lay out these proportions. I hope that helps David!
So very helpful in this particular style, even after I've been drawing for 30yrs, Thank you keep up the great work.
I have been watching one of your tutorials after another over the last two days. Just amazing how helpful they are to me.
Thank you. Your videos are really relaxing to watch and your drawings are beautiful. 😊

I always have a hard time finding good references. Do you have any recommendations for finding photos like the ones you use?

Wow!! Very dangerous 💀
Thanks….however, better start in knowing the proportion e.g., percentage or sections the body, head, elbow, knee, leg and so on.
Yes good to start there for sure. If you want loose sketching please try this method!
