Back in the day, in their prime, they could hang with anyone on stage. They were something to say the least. Great band.

lol Warner Hodges was the person who made me start to love guitar. Saw him with the Scorchers more times than I can count a long time ago. They came to my house once and played basketball...

I discovered these guys sometime in the 80s. Probably from my culling roots music at Cellophane Square in Bellingham Washington. Never understood why they never hit. Still a staple in my music diet. They had an energy that has rarely been matched.

Thanks for doing this conversation. I saw Jason and several of his early bands as we were at SIUC at the same time. I saw and met Warner at one of his first shows with the Scorchers ... nice to talk to. Listening today has helped me reminice fondly over happy times. I hope to see Warner live once again.

I loved JATS. Saw them 2 nights in a row in Melbourne, Australia during the Still Standing tour. In front of Warner throwing his guitar around and other tricks like a lit cigarette flicked around inside his mouth. I don't know how to describe it. You had to have been there!

I just discovered the Scorchers due to a interview Warner did with Otis Gibbs. I'm from the bluegrass world and didn't know a lot about alternative music but I have been converted to a instant fan.

Fortunate enough to get know Jason from the scorchers some years back… Warner is one of the few guitarist I will drop everything and go see if he is near…he is a monster , last saw him with my favorite band Drivin n Cryin a cpl years back and man he made them sound stellar …this dude can play as well as anyone ! He is probably my favorite guitarist alive now…also I used to basically live at The 688 club…so many great acts there….cheers from Bradenton Fl finally got out of Atlanta the traffic got too bad…

Just saw Warner and his band last night. Lot of travelling to get to the venue but had no intention of missing one of the Greatest musicians a lot of people have never heard of. J&S, Dan Baird, you name 'em i never miss them playing if they are within 100 miles of where i live,as long as Warner E Hodges is there, guitar in hand.

Fantastic interview with my friend and mentor, I’ve had the best time playing and recording with Warner over the past 7 years. He’s a man who makes you raise your game, one of the funniest and most honest people I’ve ever met.

Great interview! It’s hard being a WEH fan because there are no WEH lesson videos on YT! Would love to know “Hot Nights” or those Sherman tanks on the Really Don’t Want to Know intro. Thanks for the long form and having good questions prepared.
