When I met her in Suffolk during filming of "Fearless".
she was a beautiful soul. I remember in the first lockdown both Helen and Damian were helping to send food out to workers who needed it while looking after others. During this time she was fighting this awful thing - it remained in my heart because I was going through the same thing. Sweet Angel
This one breaks my heart. I love Helen McCrory. I remember seeing her and Damian during covid lockdowns on television and she didn't always look healthy, but she was always out there advocating for others. Cancer is horrid. I'm glad she's no longer in pain, and I wish Damian and their children and family peace. I am sure Damian misses Helen's love terribly and I am sure that Helen would want her love to be happy.
For those saying he moved on too quickly......what's your timeline? How long is long enough? Just because he's found someone he'll always grieve the loss of his wife. She'd want him and their kids to be happy. I've never been in that situation. But you have no idea what you would do until it happens to you. And Heaven forbid you lose the one you love let alone the hope to find love again. Be happy, Damain. You and the kids deserve it.
It implies that she wasn’t fundamental to his life plan as an individual and just fulfilled a role. The position of his life partner was filled by her for a time. She’s gone so he quickly fills the post with someone else. Like replacing an employee. Him having someone next him seems to be more important than the actual person fulfilling that role.
My husband died a decade ago. I’ll never date again. For me it wasn’t having someone to wake up to every morning. It was waking up to HIM. It wasn’t having a husband it was having HIM as my husband. It wasn’t having sex with someone it was having sex with HIM. He is integral to those plans. If he can’t be here then those plans don’t work. For me the company was more important than the companionship. For Damian it’s the reverse it would seem.
@@edwardm1326I do hate it when people are replaceable but this is different. If she was alive. She's not. I agree with the above, everyone's different. There's no set anything, no rulebook, no 1 way. They were together till the end of her life. If that's not a success then I don't know what is.

She was extremely approachable I wanted to tell her how much I loved the series Penny Dreadful which she starred in I was just so happy to tell her what an incredible actor she was and she was extremely humble and thanked me with a beautiful smile!!!

Helen was one of my most favourite actresses ever! She was a shining soul, hilariously funny, incredibly in love with life & her family. I have terminal cancer too, & on a bad day, I give my head a wobble & promise myself that I shall try to have even half of the dignity, the love and the style, (because she was never not stylish,) of Helen. She’s among the gang of angels I hope to meet up with when my turn comes. Thank you, Helen, you give me faith.

In an interview she said her and Damien loved to dance. She said if they were at a party in different parts of the house, if "Pull Up To The Bumper" by Grace Jones came on, they'd both find each other and get on down. Made me smile.
I love ❤️ the way Danian and Helen kept their life private and were not in the spotlight. Helen is a beautiful and gifted artist and they truly adore each other looked out for their family. Also encouraged each other to take on their most challenging roles and made their 👪 relationship with each other most important 💚💖

Helen McCory was a strikingly beautiful woman. What wonderful performances she gave during her all too short career. I loved her as Barbara Castlemaine, Duchess of Cleveland alongside Rufus Sewell as CHarles II. She was also fantastic as Cherie Blair with Dame Helen MIrren as The Queen. She really was such a powerful actress.

She was one of my favorite actors in "Peaky Blinders". I didn't know she had passed away until the last season, which she was no longer in because she had died. That whole cast was amazing, so singling her out is a testament to her talent.
There are some people saying he moved on too quickly... grief is a weird thing. I have known many people who lost their significant others and I find that men patricularly who were very happy and in love with their spouses do tend to marry again in a year or two. But I dont' think it's a betrayal to their lost loved one. It's just how they manage their grief and continue to live.

I was devastated when I heard how sick she was. I watched all of her acting as much as i knew about. She was a fantastic actress and I loved her personality. She was so distinctive looking.😢

I lost my mom to cancer in April 2020 and my dad were married 38 years. My dad started seeing someone just a year after she passed away I didn’t surprise me if anything he was ready but at the same time like I know, my mom knew he was gonna date again and I know she would want him to be happy.
I wish him happiness but oh dear..couldn't he have waited a little longer..out of respect for that beautiful woman.

She's certainly not the type. I think he just wants to be able to be happy for his children and frankly, most men...especially someone who was renowned for being a playboy back in the day...need a woman to be happy.

I watched a drama "Dead gorgous" here on youtube recently starring this talented actress, great stuff and I highly recommended it.
She was just an amazing woman and actress. I loved her in so many parts, Penny Dreadful, Fearless and MotherFatherSon. I am not surprised he has moved on as she did give her blessing to him to do so. She said that love was not possessive. What a wonderful philosophy. Still, I could not move on if my partner died. I would find solace in our love and memories.
I think if the love was strong, like between the two of them he will never in his heart "move on" from what they had. Other woman will always be compared with her and she cannot ever by replaced. I know a few widowed people (both male and female) who never thought about marrying for the second time because in they hearts they know it will never be the same.

I think part of love is also learning to let go. Of course he won’t let go of her memories and life they had together but part of “ moving on “ from a former spouse is also crucial of building a new relationship. Constantly comparing your former spouse to your new spouse is toxic and problematic and quite unfair to the new person who is trying to build with you and only wants to love you. It’s particularly harder when the former spouse is deceased and that can make the current partner feel inadequate like they don’t live up to their expectations. You can see storyline with Tommy and Grace in Peaky Blinders where he destroyed all the women he was with because he couldn’t get over his wife’s death. Of course That is an “ extreme” case and for that to happen in life can’t be healthy for the “ new” couple . If Damien feels ready to love again then power to him, hopefully Helen wouldn’t have wanted him to mope about for the rest of his life .He still has to children to provide for and that also means creating a healthy family dynamic for them.
I really don't think the relationship with the new girl is meant to be too serious. Frankly, I think it's for his sanity more than anything. He looks pretty miserable and he wears his wedding ring. I don't think he wants to be alone all of the time thinking about his late wife while women stalk his home and the kids are at school & with friends. I think the children would like to see their dad happy and healthy rather tha in pain and unhealthy like their mum probably was for years.

There are some of those who will never marry, after the loss of their spouse, and some who wait to find the right person, & that could take anything from 2-10yrs. While others will find someone within,or just after a year.
We all grieve differently, some longer than others
Meeting someone within a very short time of a spouse's death doesn't mean you throw away those beautiful & wonderful memories. Thank God for memories. To reflect back on. One never forgets their first True love. Thankfully one can go on to love again. One can't compare the second time round to the first.

I've seen it in my personal life more than once. I think it shows how much they miss their spouse and perhaps are looking to fill that void. But knowing Helen she would likely want her love to be happy.
