I have a thing for pine trees. I have the wooden ones you do on your mantel and I would set all my pines up together with deer and pine cones. Something so simple you did that I love is the end of your hallway. That’s me. Dark wooden gorgeous reindeer and pine.
Decorating for Christmas makes me so happy. My family doesn't have a ton of money so every since my kids were born we've had a process where every year we buy one piece of decor to add to what we already have and one pack of ornaments for the tree. At this point we have a good amount of stuff to decorate with and ornaments for the tree and it's so fun every year to find the perfect things to buy to add to everything. We have more ornaments now than what our tree can hold so we just let the kids pick out which ones they want to put on that year. They decorate the tree and it's a little different every year and they always have so much fun with it.
Your kitties will enjoy the decorations and lights, then wonder why you took them down! (And I will agree, since winter is tough enough and so very cold!)
There's something special about earthy colours & decor with crafted, handmade ornaments... So very intimate and warm . Especially at Christmas. Love that big leather chair with the blanket draped on it - Chef's Kiss. Nut crackers turned out beautifully. I just saw them couple of days ago. I think I'll grab them and do the same. Thanks for the idea. :})
The whole house looks cohesive and yet each space shines on its own. Bravo for a job well done! I admire the way you weave big box Target with “love of the hunt” vintage while you balance the renter friendly choices. Your talent and design skills are excellent. We have evolved our decorative choices as the family has grown and changed. We still enjoy the tree with many memories and homemade decorations. The rest of the house gets a lighter touch depending on the mood, time, and temperature in the unpredictable north country. Sometimes there may be 5 feet of snow. Last year, almost nothing. Always deer in the front yard!!! Your home promises a warm spirit for your holiday season to match your warm temperatures and your warmer personality. 🎄🦌❤
I LOVE how festive everything is without being overly done! Since we have 8 (rescue) kitties ourselves, I love, Love, LOVE the kitty ornaments! I just might make some of those for my tree!
Coming from a more northern climate, I appreciate the incorporation of decor that still seems to "make sense" with your environment. And it's the perfect season for the fireplace, lol!
That cookie jar full of pepper mints reminds me of a hot fudge sundae. Love how interestingly everything comes together as a cohesive design. You definitely have a talent and flair. I appreciate your sharing all this with us.
Another fabulous video. I had to pause it half way through and change some of my Christmas decor. I really like your style and the way you explain your ideas.
I love what you did with the space - I like how festive it is without being too much. Swapping cushions and throws and similar things rather than adding more is a great idea. I tend to err on the side of not doing excessive decorating, but I pulled out and polished all my brass candlesticks so that they catch and throw light, and put a lot of small lights - for example, I wound one string around the back legs of our firewood rack, so that the firewood stacked in it is backlit by it and the lights are pretty as it gets used up. I also put Swedish-style advent star lamps up in a couple of windows (we live in Norway but SO is Swedish), and put out nice candles (some scented). We do not do a tree because of cats, but I need to go into the garden and cut some hemlock spruce branches for a vase (or several) to make the house smell good and look festive.
Everything looks lovely and cozy. Thank you for reminding us that Christmas does not mean we have to go out and buy everything new. ❤ I love a dressed down Ralph Lauren Christmas vibe.
You manage to style your thrifted eclectic finds so intentionally in very unexpected ways. I just love everything about this! I definitely share in your joy, LK! ☺️
Happy you are in your home now! Beautiful job decorating. My favorite item is the metal garland on the mantel! So unique. Enjoy your place and the beautiful decorations. God bless you and your loved ones.
I never did much Christmas decorating, but now that my wife and I are having a baby I want to start bringing some holiday magic into the house and you gave me so much inspiration! 🌈
yay and congrats! I never did much as a younger single person but once I got into it I realized it made me feel like the seasons were changing and I could be excited about something new!
I love to decorate with bright, saturated colors so I go all out with true red and green in our house. Three years ago I bought a giant contractor bag full of big fake poinsettia garlands, and I have them over every doorway in our communal living areas. They make our house feel SO Christmasy, I can’t believe I got them for about $1/ea!!! How can people afford to decorate with all new stuff?? I did buy a faux neon “Merry Christmas” sign at Hobby Lobby that I love. My husband says our house looks like a Christmas themed dive bar. Heck yeah! 😂
The mantle is my favorite area. I like the sled moved to the corner of the fireplace, perfect place for it. All the little vintage angels and trinkets are pretty cool. Those tiny trees, you put out in your room; at my house those would certainly be discovered by the cats!
Great video! Im liking the garland over the fireplace. We have a mix of style for Christmas, mostly Vintage but also some rustic cabin feeling ornaments since we live in a Northern Snowy state. Really whatever we like but always colors of reds n greens.
Love your look. It's very you and looks great with the existing decor, especially love the wooden accents like the deer, the metal angels, and the pottery. I tend to go mid century vintage with lots of bottle brush trees, collections of old angels, and santas. They are not all in perfect condition but very nostalgic. Have a very festive season.
Hygge is pronounced "HOO-gah" - according to DianeinDenmark. And I think your house looks very sweet! Years ago, I went all out with glass balls and garland, electric candles in the windows, satin patchwork stockings, etc. It was very Victorian. I'm more laid back in recent years (white lights on a small tree). But I've been picking up "little pretties" throughout the past couple years (with a young grandson in mind), and I handed down my big tree and lots of ornaments to get his family started. I was going to do another small tree with just fairy lights this year, but my (5-y-o) grandson visited and adorned it with elves. I couldn't bear to take them down, so that'll be the fanciest item for this year. And I do have a light-up Santa (the size of a small table lamp) that looks out the kitchen window. He and the elves will be packed away after Christmas Day. The rest can be enjoyed for some time: faux frosted garland, tiny trees, and small animal figures - enjoying the Solstice. Meanwhile, I discovered a bottomless trove of Christmas décor in storage. I had let the kids take some sentimental favorites. So I allowed myself to replenish - at thrifty prices. Next Summer, I'll have to purge significantly. Until then, discovering and handling those sweet bits-and-bobs makes my heart glow. ❤️
It all looks so great! Love your videos. You have a great talent for combining all your treasures. ❤ That mantel is everything. Thank you for the inspiration. I love christmas so much that I have five trees. One tree is new this year. It is covered with all those target birds. They put them out every year, little ones and bigger ones. Last year my sister convinced me I need a huge tree for the entrance hall. So I put up a 12 foot tree, which is freakin huge and it is covered with all the target birds I have collected over the years they have made them.
As a Kiwi living in Australia, its a shock how much decorating people do in the northern hemisphere. My household has just put 2 handfuls of decor on an already existing indoor monstera plant, and thats it! I guess you're inside a lot because it's cold so it must be nice to have something to bring up the mood, where as if i were to decorate a lot here it would just feel stuffy and take away from the fresh summer feeling.
Lately, I’ve been leaning more towards how my mom always decorated for Christmas. Very folky and homey. I’ve made some DIY ornaments out of beads, painted some wooden ornaments, etc. I’d love to collect more carved wooden ornaments or things more homemade looking.
Everything looks flipping gorgeous. I like the same things, a bit folksy but not too much. I love the little birds, I have similar white and plaid ones and all the metal ornaments are right up my alley. I’m going to decorate at the weekend if I can hold off until then. I’m trying hard not to buy anything new but it’s difficult to resist all the fabulousness.
I like a more traditional style with reds, greens, golds and some white. I'm not a big Christmas lover so don't go mad with it. One big tree and then a few bits around the living/dining room, bells up the handrail of the staircase and a wreath on the front and back doors. Yours look great 🎄
I found a way to keep my trees fresher for quite a long time. When you get it home, drill a few holes in the bottom of the trunk and a maybe 3 holes around the side of the trunk and the tree will take in much more water. Use hot water every time you water, as it will open the pores of the trunk. The other thing I did was put a portable travel size humidifier hidden behind or nearby and run that at least once a day. Game changer!!!
I loved the video, I'm so happy to have landed upon your channel! Also on your stack of blankets the checkered one, do you know where you got it from? I am in love with the color scheme of it!
Hello from Upstate New YorK! (We have tons and tons of snow here.....in case you'd like to "borrow" some?) :) Your house looks wonderful....love the Mantel decorations - love it all. Lovely - truly lovely.
looks great, wondering if your cats are well behaved around all those lovely decorations, especially the ornaments on the tress. I have to keep mine in mind whatever I put out. Enjoying your channel
At 7:18 you show some little figurines, a starburst and two deer, with hooks on the front of them. Do you remember where you found those? Or what they are called? Thanks!
I just go to flea markets, vintage stores, antique malls, or the regular thrift store! Or estate sales, those always have christmas decor all year round
My style is traditional, all the way. However, I enjoy every style and can appreciate that everyone’s style is different. That’s the fun of decorating, right?
Tell me what kind of "style" you like to decorate with for Christmas!🎄☃
Minimalist for me! 😊🌲
CHARLES DICKENS AND NORMAN ROCKWELL DARK ACADEMIA VICTORIAN ERA AESTHETIC. What state do you live in!
Northern European, with Krampus and St. Nikolaus, lots of lights, a real tree, old German and Austrian glass ornaments.
I have a thing for pine trees. I have the wooden ones you do on your mantel and I would set all my pines up together with deer and pine cones. Something so simple you did that I love is the end of your hallway. That’s me. Dark wooden gorgeous reindeer and pine.
I'm really into vintage 50's Christmas finds I've been collecting. Excited to see what you do!! ❤💚

Your kitties will enjoy the decorations and lights, then wonder why you took them down!

Thank you, LK! So much fun to watch your creative process. Now, it is my turn to get our place ready for Christmas. Cheers.

aw thank you so much!! I’ve never had a white christmas so honestly that sounds idyllic :)
Perfect!!!! I esp love that tiny tin on your coffee table!
I LOVE how festive everything is without being overly done! Since we have 8 (rescue) kitties ourselves, I love, Love, LOVE the kitty ornaments! I just might make some of those for my tree!
omg 8?! sounds like a dream but also I could never haha :) definitely make some it’s my fave thing to look at!

I love how the wooden nutcracker and snowman turned out with the dark stain. I think that was a great idea!😍🎄
Thanks Ian! I love them so much :)

I love those swedish star lamps!! How cool I can’t wait to visit Norway in the future, love it!
Turned out soooo good! My favorite parts are the garland over the mantel and the wooden deer in the telephone alcove. But I love it all!
You made it so cozy and inviting...a Christmas vibe where guests really enjoy their visit. (Maybe even overstay their vist!). Lol
The red florals you added to the small tree made such a difference, its beautiful! And those chunky bird ornaments, adorable.
ok they’re so cute right?!
Everything looks lovely and cozy. Thank you for reminding us that Christmas does not mean we have to go out and buy everything new. ❤ I love a dressed down Ralph Lauren Christmas vibe.
ooo me too!

The nutcrackers turned out really great, love the dark stain. ❤
I just love your style! What a great job you did. So Christmasy and festive. The fireplace mantel is perfect with the lights added. Great video. ❤
Just noticed the copper teapot on the wall - looove 💕

Love 💕 the little bird tree 🌲 thanks for that inspiration!
I do very minimal holiday decor, but this was very inspirational. Gorgeous!
Good design just flows out of you! So well done!
Love it. Keep up the great ideas. I’m somewhat of a minimalist myself so I really enjoy living and decorating vicariously through you.
I was just watching last week’s video and thinking, “I can’t wait to watch the Christmas decorating one” and lo and behold, here it is!
yay! hope you enjoyed :)
❤❤ the Lil tree by the fireplace
I just started the christmas decoration watching your video. Thank you for the inspiration. Your house looks so beautiful!

Haha yes! I'm sure we will lose some but for the most part they don't bother thankfully!
So gorgeous LK! You have such a beautiful home 💗
This was so much fun to watch and inspired me to decorate as well. Thank you ❤

We keep it traditional 😊
Good job!

I need that Kodak printer 😊
Its so good! We often print stuff to just put on the fridge haha
I loved the video, I'm so happy to have landed upon your channel!

My tree is Wizard of Oz theme.
omg I love it!!

they’ll get creative once we put the tree up but they only play with the low hanging ornaments :)

🎄
Love the metal decor items and the little birds! How do you find vintage Christmas items? Are there thrift stores that have items based on the season?

I like your house. Are you in PNW?
Thanks! I’m in so cal!
I love your videos but the handheld camera triggered my motion sickness. I wound up having to just fast forward through those bits.
