    Thinking of trying out The Farmer's Dog? This long-term dog food review is for you.
    NEW: Watch my updated long-term review after 1,000 meals • The Farmer's Dog Revie...
    If you've been considering The Farmer's Dog for a fresh dog food subscription service or looking for a review, here's an honest testimonial of how it's been for me. In this video, I go over some important things to know about this dog food, and share some things that I've learned after a year of being a customer.
    The Farmer's Dog delivers real, fresh food that's personalized for your dogs on a schedule that works for you. You've probably seen The Farmer's Dog ads or commercials online when looking for healthy dog food that gets delivered.
    For us, it's been a great way to save time and stress when feeding our poodle, schnauzer, and westie/yorkie mix. They're all small dogs, and we have a puppy too, so it's been a good choice for all three. If you've checked out my review of The Farmer's Dog, this video goes into a lot more depth because I've learned a lot more about the service after continuing to be a customer.
    From delivery to feeding, to the very important question of "Will my dogs like The Farmer's Dog," I cover a lot in this video and hope that it helps you find the right food in your search for healthy or fresh dog food for your pups.

    I just ordered. My dog is very picky, turns down meals often and sometimes will not eat so long that she gets sick just because she does not want her kibble. I even put tiki dog flavor topper on top, which worked for a while, but not anymore. Her stomach is very sensitive and we’ve had bad experiences trying other foods in the past. I’m hoping she loves the farmers dog and I will transition her as recommended. She is 7.

    Hi guys I love you already, we used to feed them the kibble and canned food until I noticed their bowels weren't right either so I thought wonder if they would enjoy what we were eating, so I started giving them fresh chicken with rice fresh veggies, and they loved it!! And their bowels were perfect no more loose bowels,no more grumbling in their tummys after they ate they had energy, always happy, and another thing they used to have ear issues and eye issues, but as soon as they ate human foods everything cleared up no health issues. Thank you so much for doing this for the furbabies out their, I am exactly like you I love dogs more then people!😄 I am a retired dog groomer for 40yrs and I told them to cook for their furbabies with health issues they listened to me and they didn't have to go to the vets only for shots etc now my girls look foward to dinner, my lab loves chicken and rice veggies she watches me cook it's so cute! Your idea is wonderful and I wish you the very best of luck and by the way JADA AND HER DADDY ARE GORGOUS 😉😉 Please give your sweet furbaby a hug and kiss from me "auntie" Jo thx so much guys I love you!!!

    Thanks Dave, this was all good to hear since I had already started Farmers Dog. My Yorkie, Duke has only been on Farmers Dog since 10/15/22, so almost a month. Before that he was on Dr. Marty's and Petcurean lamb and coat formula. Better than most dry foods but lots of poop. The results: Duke loves FD food and will balance on his hind legs while I prepare it. I defrost two days at a time in the refrigerator. He gets 1/4 a pack a day and I split each days portion in half. He eats at 7:30 am and 4 pm. To take the chill off, I put the meal portion in a zip lock bag and insert in a cup with hot water. I don't like giving it to him straight from the frig. I didn't think this tiny little bit be enough to hold him but I have one of those maze bowls and I just scoop it out and spread it all over the maze bowl and he loves it and he doesn't seem to whimper or whine in between meals but is really excited when it's time to eat again.Im really glad that whatever is in it is holding him between his meals. He was headed towards 7 lb when his ideal weight is 5 or a little bit more and now he is back to being 5.6 and I'm thrilled. He's always had good energy and so that has continued he's very playful. Definitely a big difference in his poop before it was slightly smelly but he had several stools twice a day now he has just one tiny stool twice a day and barely any smell at all. I decided to try this to see if it would help with paw licking. Too soon to tell, but I think he died it less oI do know that he loves it, poop is better and energy is good and his coat is still good. As for the paw licking I'm trying a salmon oil and I think that is helping. Will know more after a few weeks if both did the trick. He is a happy dog and I feel like he's eating healthier with this food. I hope this helps your subscribers. Sorry for any typos!

      People with tiny dogs can spend a bit more and get much better nutrition with a cooked, fresh dog food like Evermore or Raised Right. These two brands don't have the grain/carb fillers and synthetic nutrients found in Farmer's Dog.

    Thank you for sharing this. My baby is a 12 y/o Bichon. She’s 12 lbs and used to be 17 lbs. She’s been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. She was extremely ill in September, started receiving fluids and phosphorus binder. She lost weight due to being sick. We fed her several healthy brands, then switched to Just Food for Dogs Renal Lamb per the Vet. She doesn’t like it. I started researching FD this weekend and I’m thrilled to find your video. I just went to their site and generated a diet plan for a 65lb female dog. It came out to somewhere around $340 a month. Most people would not be able to pay this, especially as in my case I also have a 100+lbs male as well. I weigh 150lbs and can eat well (lots of organic) for around $300 a month, so I think I could do my own home cooked dog food with similar ingredients for around $200 a month tops for my 65lbs dog.
    Not necessarily saying they are overcharging, but that the conviniece comes with a rather hefty price tag. One that is unrealistic for most dog owners. For owners of toy or other small breeds it is probably doable.
    Specialty pet foods are getting absurdly priced at this point. I have seen dry kibble formulas such as Ziwi Peak or certain Farmina flavors that are hundreds of $$ for a single bag. Currently, I am planning to do a 50/50 split of meals comprised of half higher end dry food, and half fresh human grade ingredients/ supplements. I guess for those who have deep pockets, and small breed dogs, brands like 'The Farmer's Dog'. are a convenient option.

      Thank you. Iv spent a good 20 min trying to find the damn price.

    • @DenaInWyo
      @DenaInWyo 4 месяца назад

      Wow, I knew the price within minutes of getting on the site. They're pretty transparent about that but they do need to know your dog's weight etc to calculate it. Digital, I totally get what you're saying. Until recently I had two pugs and a lab. Our old lady lab, who weighed 80 lbs, left us last week. So now we have two 18/19 lb pugs and it's going to cost about $200 a month. Previously I was paying $100 for the lab's Orijen kibble and $130 for the pugs' canned food. Dog size definitely plays a part in affording it. Prior to having our big dog though, I made food for our pug collection (we used to have too many! I'm a softy for rescues) and on top of the ingredients being expensive, it was also a pretty big suck of my time. This is definitely cost prohibitive to big dog owners. Totally worth it to me with two littles.

Also this company will give you their recipe so that you can make your own. They sell the vitamin packs that you can add to your homemade food so you can ensure they are getting all their nutrients. Additionally you can feed half fresh and mix with kibble so you are not using as much.

We’ve also tried feeding them canned pumpkin and raw goat’s milk but they don’t like it. My girl has just stated chemo for thyroid cancer & I’m looking for anything to help improve her health. Definitely smart to start with the trial! Farmer's Dog is human grade and fresh so that is very good. However, it is high carbohydrate, almost as high as most kibbles. That cheap filler is not good for carnivores. Yes, the starch is necessary for making a dough to make kibble but not necessary for making fresh food. My dogs have always had fresh food so I thought they would love Farmer's Dog. They disliked it because of all the rice. I figured why pay so much for a food that is mainly carb. Why not buy one of the other human grade dog foods, albeit more expensive, and to cut weekly costs, make some homemade stews. It is not true that an adult dog needs to eat a commercial, AAFCO compliant meal every day. AAFCO is bare minimum requirements, by the way and eating bare minimum every meal is bad. Once you get into supplementing with pastured eggs, (sunny side up to preserve the nutrition in the yolk (pastured eggs have deep yellow/orange yolks vs. factory pharmed eggs that have pale, less nutritious yolks)), canned sardines and wild salmon with skin and bones (packed in water in BPA free cans), rare cooked steak, 100% grass fed, low temp cooked ground beef, raw duck and turkey necks and other safe bones, you are feeding a much more nutritious diet than an AAFCO compliant diet and also saving a lot of money. The rotation of whole, fresh foods with some premium commercial products is a good way to make sure there are not deficiencies. Farmer's Dog is a huge step up from kibble but too high in carb for optimal health.
